excelent and close to the water front

The place is very clean and the staff was was professional,but not stuffy. The adjoining restaurant had great food at very reasonable price. I will stay there again on my next trip.

The best!

This harbourside hotel couldn't have fit our needs any better. Great room, very clean, comfortable beds. Free coffee, bottled water in room. fridge for our convienience. Fabulous restaurant with AMAZING clam chowder. Nothing fancy here, just good quality at an amazing price. Friendly, helpful staff as well. We will return and stay here!

Rundown hotel in a sketchy pocket of town

This hotel has a bit of false advertising. We travel on a budget, as my partner is an artist and this one was booked in a pinch. It was fine...but not much else. The bed was so uncomfortable and the location was right beside the bus depot and liquor store. I didn't sleep too well that night; fearing that our car would be broken into. Good Value

My experience was great. I was welcomed by a very polite lady at the front desk. The room was clean and comfortable.

The guy working there seemed friendly, the room was kind of lower end and what you would expect from a cheaper hotel.

However we woke up covered in bed bug bites. Upon inspecting the room more we saw tell tale signs of them such as blood marks on the towels.

One step up from a Motel.Greeting was barely warm, told restaurant was closed, given a voucher for local coffee house for breakfast.Kept awake by smokers outside bedroom window(illegal)

Decent value with an excellent location. Convenient to the Ferry. The rooms are basic and no frills, but the hallways are in need of some TLC.

The pool area is nice however, the adjacent restaurant is very blah

Needs remodeling

This hotel and in need of upgrading. During this visit the bed sunk to middle and the pillow was lumpy. I had to return to Nanaimo for my dad's funeral. There was a dog show, lacross tournament and a special Olympics. All the other hotels were full. This time our bed and pillows were fine. The breakfast was very good. The staff were great. They said

Is it a fancy hotel? No. But for the price it's way better than what I would have expected. Room was very basic - bed, cable TV, Internet. Very clean.

The add ons make this hotel even more worth it. Breakfast at their restaurant is included ($5.95 value per person) and was way better than your typical continental breakfast. You can also get passes to the gym next door which is miles better... more

hotel was dated but clean. 2 floors but no elevator restaurant only open for breakfast. for the price not a bad deal close to old downtown nanaimo along sea wall. quite a few pubs and bistros within walking distance

Good location

The nice surprise was, we recieved a complemenaty breakfast every morning at the Hotel Restaurant. Walking along the waterfront into town is enjoyable and the view spectacular.

Very pleasant staff - average hotel.

We went for a get-away. The hotel was very affordable. The staff were extremely pleasant. We knew the hotel was older and in need of some updates, so no surprises here. It was actually better than expected. One downside, the dining room needed some cleaning, we brought it to their attention and nothing was done.

As cheap hotels goes, it was quite nice. Great complementary breakfast, very friendly staff.

The hotel was refurbished in 2008. The rooms were clean and the staff were helpful. We had two rooms, one had a fridge and one did not. The rooms were average size. We stayed here just as a stop on our trip to Vancouver. We chose the hotel because of it's low price and we were familar with the chain. We were not dissapointed, we were not amazed though either. If you plan on spending a lot of time at this "HoJo" location, then you mmight find your self to become uncomfortable. Excellent location

The best kept secret of this hotel is its location, adjourning the harbour with the walking trail ending/starting at the bottom of the parking lot. The room was also very spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our stay was overall a very pleasant experience.

Beware of the front desk staff!

On checking in, the front desk staff ignored me while phone callers were welcomed. After what seemed like an eternity, the calls ended and I was finally checked in. Great for taking walks along the waterfront

This is an older hotel but it is kept up and is clean and comfortable. A short walk across the parking lot and you are on the waterfront with a park and playground nearby and beautiful scenery of the mountain, water, ferries, sea planes and boats.
