Price was right, funky veneer on an old motel

Well appointed accoutrements and a nice job restoring an older motel while leaving the soul intact. Surprisingly quiet for being on Douglas, and very close to downtown. Stayed for 5 days, wish we had hit the pool more.

Comfortably central to area I visit

We have stayed in this hotel for a few years now and the improvements have just made it that much more enjoyable. Found the staff friendly and helpful and enjoyed some of the new ideas like the availability of the bikes to ride around the city and retro theme they presented. Very enjoyable.

Fun Vibe

Location was on a main street, with a shuttle to downtown area during the daytime in a micro VW bus. We used the shuttle 3 times. Excellent coffee in the lobby, Pool, Hot Tub, and a Ping Pong Lounge. Ate a few times in the neighborhood, which is nice to visit with the locals. We would go back for sure.

It was a lot of fun, the games room and waterslide were a big hit with the kids. If you have the time you can use the retro VW van for the complimentary shuttle service or borrow a bike.

The hotel creates a nice environment with its colour and theme. Hotel staff good. However the room needs a bit of an upgrade such as the fans in the washroom, stove is a slow cooker and space is limited for four persons if sharing the room.

We had so much fun here! The water slide was a blast. Made us feel like kids again. The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful with recommendations. Stan the shuttle driver was very knowledgeable and it's such a fun way to get downtown. My husband and I had an amazing time just the two of us. We will definitely be back with the kids!

Nice place to stay.

Very attractive colors on the outside of the building and we were able to check in quickly. The inside was clean and had a little theme added to it but mostly felt like a normal hotel on the inside compared to the outside and lobby. The bathroom and bedroom could match their rebel against the normal theme a bit more to.

Got the job done

This hotel is well situated on the main street in Victoria. Right across the street is a major shopping centre and numerous buses servicing downtown. The staff was helpful in the lobby was comfortable which was a good thing because the room was extremely small. Next time I would upgrade to a one bedroom suite as the bachelor pad is too tight for two people.

It was okay, but had some flaws. No air conditioning, bad neighborhood, noisy street noise, Kid friendly, not so much for adults hoping for friendly some peace n quiet not so relaxing. Lots of the noise coming from the pool and the surrounding streets. No breakfast included, just coffee, tea n hot cocoa.

Affordable hotel for family of 5

Hotel was fine for our overnight stay - clean, fairly comfortable and friendly staff. The drawback is the distance out of town. In the evening, there were only a few eating out options nearby.

Very pleasant stay at this hotel that offered us everything we needed for our overnight stay. Staff were cheerful and welcoming and our teenage boys had fun in the pool and water slide. Free transfer to downtown was very helpful.

Wonderful and wacky

Never tried the pool or hot tub. No a/c made it a little warm at night. All staff were great, in- lobby coffee was good and free bike loaners was icing on the cake. Next door to Tim's and KFC for a quick bfast or late night snack and close to downtown. We plan to stay there again.

Hotel Zed is not your typical cookie-cutter motel. The decor has a fun 60ish flair with some cool touches like rotary phones and a comic book in the room. Free biked and coffee were a nice bonus. I was quite pleased with the room decor and the flat screen TV. However, I was severely bitten during the night and when i told the front desk, they merely said they would tell maintenance. I hope this isn't a widespread problem.

The hotel was very clean and the staff were helpful. However, there was no air conditioning in the room and it was very uncomfortable. Only a small fan provided relief. Also, there was a lot of traffic noise.

Loved this place!

Unique and quirky hotel, definitely an experience!

I picked Hotel Zed for the colourful decor and I was not disappointed! It had been clearly updated and was in great condition. I recommend this hotel for anyone who likes more than just the ordinary. Also cool that it is pet friendly, that a 1967 VW van is the hotel's free shuttle bus, and the bike rentals are free for cruising.

The Blue Ridge is a very good budget option with free WiFi, a large shower, plenty of hot water, it is clean and has a television. It is conveniently situated on a bus route. The only downers were no tea/coffee facilities and no breakfast. Recommended.

staff was pushing us towards a certain whale watching company, telling us a higher price than the actual price (checked online) and followed up with a call that they arranged a discount for us which turned out to be just the actual price. Kind of misleading, other than that the hotel was nice.

By far this remains, year after year the single best deal in Victoria in my opinion. It is cost effective, has decent rooms and is positioned nicely in the city. Highly recommended for business travel.

My cousin and I stayed here for 2 nights for Rifflandia & it was great! Nice people, clean rooms, convenient location. Best value for your $. I would definitely recommend this inn. We didn't get a chance to try the cafe though.

Whenever I go to Victoria, I stay at the Blue Ridge. It is located right across from the Mayfair Shopping Centre and Denny's Restaurant is just a few minutes away. It has an indooor pool and the rooms are very clean. Best of all, the price is very reasonable!

Really average

Room was so small, there were no fridge and hair dryer. No air conditioning and it just had a little fan. Breakfast not included, it isnot bad for one night stay but more than one night... I dont recommend!! May be for just 10$ more you can have a better place to stay!

Its clean but no aircon

The place is clean and has a free parking. The only thing I don`t like during our stay was no aircon. We were not able to sleep comfortably because its so hot during the time of our stay. If they have that aircon, we probably enjoy our stay there.

Great value for money

We recently stayed at the Blue Ridge. The room was comfortable and tidy and the bed was fantastic. We found the staff very helpful. The location was great for bus routes into town which was only 10 min and close to shopping and resturants. Overall great value for money, we would stay there again.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this is an older hotel. Thankfully its been flawlessly kept up, so even if the decor is dated, the rooms are squeaky clean. Plain motel, but room was clean, new bathroom fixtures ,beds comfortable, microwave, coffee maker and fixings included. Small breakfast and lunch cafe on site. a bit of traffic noise, it"s on the main drag, but quiets down after midnight, I live in the country so quite unused to traffic noise.

No room reserved!

Room was not reserved when I got there so did not get my queen size bed. Water ran hot and cold throughout the shower. Room was too warm even though there was no heat on and there was no air conditioning to cool it down. Couldn't open windows and sleep because of traffic noise.

Good value for money! The room was clean and well kept. 2 double beds that were very good to sleep on. Everything worked well in the compact unit. Comes with fridge and microwave as well as small kitchen sink. A warm indoor pool with changing rooms and a sauna in the basement. We went for a swim before dinner. Friendly and helpful reception.
