Very good basic hotel

This is our 2nd stay in this hotel. It is a very good basic hotel with reasonable rates and friendly staff. We chose this hotel because it is walking distance to Schwartz's deli, our favorite place to have Montreal smoked meat! We also discovered other excellent restaurants - Lebanese, vegetarian, etc. It is also close enough to downtown and other interesting places around Montreal.

Internet did not work at all

The internet did not work at all while I was there. I chose this hotel because I needed free in-room wifi. Very disappointing.

C@!%!y but clean

The place looks run down from the outside and the inside. We were three people and our room was big, small bathroom. The room was clean which was very important. The staff is friendly and the location is great. The breakfast room was depressing and so was the breakfast spread. If you need a place to sleep for one night then it'll do.

Un grand lit King Size et un emplacement idéal

Nous avons été satisfait de l'hôtel Plateau Royale pour la nuit que nous avons passé du 5 au 6 septembre 2014. Non-functional plumbing; non-accessible.

Plumbing was insufficient to flush the toilet once without paper after normal use without clogging. Check-in desk and all rooms require a flight of stairs - no part of the hotel is accessible.

Too expensive for what you get

I think it was too expensive for what we got. No lift/elevator to our 4th floor room. There's no fridge and no kettle to boil water. Breakfast could be better other than bread, butter and jam, muffins, and coffee/tea. The location is not that great either. We still had to take a bus to the downtown area. Otherwise, it would be a 20-min walk. It took us just as long to the nearest metro station.... plus

Overpriced, misleading and not comfortable

I paid premium price to stay one night at this hotel. Although the hotel site claimed the displayed price was the final total price, additional taxes were charged. My room smelled of smoke, appeared frayed and not fully clean. It was also quite noisy.

Good location. Bus stops right next to it, park, restaurants. The inside needs a lot of work and if you get a room in basement well that just sucks. Your sheets will not be changed during whole stay. I only gave it two stars because of the location. Continental breakfast is very continental.

SCAM. Total scam. They advertise something and charge different to their customer. When the customer ask about the different pricing they show their fine print when the customer have no choice. Customer service is soooo bad. Rude. Over priced.

I am far from picky or judgemental however, I DO NOT recommend this hotel. The pictures online do it too much justice; the inside is brutal, the outside is worse. The staff, especially the manager, are unprofessional, rude and unaccommodating. Don't let their economical prices fool you, it's not worth the stay.

good for a night

It's am affordable 2 star Hotel next to the Mont Royal. The rooms are clean and there is a small breakfast available in the morning. Also, they offer parking for $20. I was here on business... Actually read a review on this site about the great location with a great tavern next door... TRUE, TRUE. With the Air/Hotel Orbitz price the hotel was a good deal - without the combo I would have been disappointed for the price they wanted.

Awful Experience

On Friday, June 6th my husband and I travelled to Montreal for a wedding to take place on the 7th. When we arrived to our original hotel, we discovered there was an involuntary error on their part regarding our booking. Surprisingly Great

For a budget hotel, this place is simply great. From the outside you'll think you made a mistake booking this place. Spent three nights at the Plateau Royale Hotel. (same address - 4455 rue du Parc). We loved it. It was inexpensive, clean, quiet and had a lovely king-size bed with down duvet.
