Centrally located with great views and homey suites, Hôtel Le Cantlie Suites accommodates long and short term stays. Try the in-house restaurant Le Mezz.
Our room was clean, but the rest didn't wow me. The bed was comfortable enough. Great location in relationship to bars and Mont Royal. Half a block away from the metro, with easy access to Old Montreal. The staff was pretty stiff and not too happy about helping a stupid american stumble through his french.
Full price is a bit out of our range. We stayed there because we got a good deal. Convenient for Montreal Museum for Fine Arts. Parking is expensive ($23), and you don't get that info until after you have booked. Our room was a kind of mini suite with a tiny kitchen. Room was quiet, even though next to elevator. We live in Ottawa and visit Montreal a few times a year, not usually staying... plus
Hotel was clean and well kept, also had a sweet old touch to it with actual keys to open the doors. Staff was extremely helpful and efficient. Rooms were nice and big! Would definitely recommend!
Hotel was okay. For $140 per night though you would expect a simple free breakfast and free access to wifi. Even to use wifi in the business center would cost you ten dollars. Seems crazy that you are charged for wifi. Only in Canada have I seen this. Also if you are driving they charge $23 per night for parking which is high. With that being said, hotel staff was friendly and the rooms were... plus
Excellent, memorable and the best. If given a chance I would love to come back and stay longer. There's so many historical places to see. It's amazing!
I came in from Toronto, and drove in with a rental from the airport. There was no proper valet at the front of the hotel, or even someone to direct us to the back where the actual valet is. I understand it is because it is on a main road, and no front hotel driveway, but this is inconvenient with traffic, cold weather, finding temporary parking nearby so that you can run into the lobby to ask... plus
Very nice room. Beds confortable. Parking a bit pricy and hard to access. Balance OK
The only negative thing I have to say is there was a ceramic tray holding shampoo etc. on a shelf behind the toilet. The shelf was slanting forward and even though we didn't knock it, the tray slipped to the floor and broke. I understand the bathrooms are being renovated so that is a good thing. Otherwise our stay was wonderful and considering there was a full kitchen, our next stay in Montreal... plus
Pro: downtown location, good price, clean, comfortable beds and lots or space Cons: old bathroom, leaking shower. There was a little kitchen in the room, the coffee maker's lead and the filter were dirty, not even rinsed. I tried to boil some water, and some old pieces of some stuff fell into the cap, I assume the coffee maker was very old and never changed. Also, the room was very cold, as the... plus
Outdated facilities... Room Key's are actual physical keys, no free Wi-Fi, no free Local calls, TV quality and resolution below par (images were blurry). Did not accommodate request for day bed despite request being made at time of booking.
it was okay for a few nights stay, staff were helpful and friendly, bed very comfortable but washroom in desperate need for update. Tub clogged up and would not drain, not that clean as well. if washroom was updated and cleaner it would have been much better and I would probably recommend.
The hotel is in a good location, would allows you easy access to all the wonders of the city. Facilities could be better but it's value for money for travellers or a family with a child.
We stayed in a premiere suite at Hotel Le Cantlie Suites. The staff was exceptional and extremely helpful. The room was large and very comfortable. Couple of negatives -- bathroom was very average and not very clean on arrival. The water pressure in the shower was really high and was hard to control so after each shower, the whole bathroom was soaked. Tub did not drain well. By the end of a... plus
Location is right downtown, but the hotel is in pretty haggard shape. The hot water was only warm. One elevator was broken, there was no bathroom fan. Comfy beds and clean though.
Outdated. Cramped rooms and washrooms. Did not give us king bed After calling and said they would will pay the extra 20 bucks for the omni next time
The hotel is located in downtown so it's in close proximity to many restaurants and bars. The hotel itself is a nice stay overall. We upgraded to an executive suite with a little more space. The room had a bedroom section with 2 double beds divided by french doors which led to a living space (TV, couch and kitchen). The bathroom was nice as well. They also have onsite parking ($23/day) which... plus
Convenient, clean, parking, tv, fridge, close to McGill, bellboy was awesome and friendly! Front desk staff were nice! Shower power needs work!
Would go back only if there are still special prices. Nice updates to rooms, comfy beds and quilts. Bathroom is a little dated but clean. Little european kitchen, super handy when you have yound kids. Very well situated. The only bad comment is We found a used coffee filter in machine... Appart from that, would definitly go back there.
The exercise room has a splendid view. The computer room is in tip-top shape
It was a pleasure to stay there and have breakfast in our suite with friends staying at the same hotel but the staff did not enough explain about the parking conditions. I said where we parked, very close to the hotel, and the guy did not say it was forbidden to stay in the early morning... then we got a fine... He should have been prevenant enough and inform us.
No complaints and only a 5 minute walk to a Bell a Centre
That was our third stay at this hotel. The room we booked - studio, 1 king bed - was very large and had a kitchenette with a fridge, which is very convenient even when you stay for one night only. The hotel is ideally located - just a short walk from everything. The only drawback I can think of is the fact that they charge a small fee for the use of the internet in your room. At most hotels it... plus
The location, staff and lobby of the hotel are excellent. The room that we stayed was renovated but a bathroom and kitchenette were very old. We asked for a quiet room and they gave us a room in the end of a hallway facing a low-traffic street. However some of the guests were partying until midnight that made our request useless. Service in the hotel's restaurant was excellent but quality of... plus
A little chaotic in terms of the staff. No room service after 10pm on a Saturday seems ridiculous, especially with no vending machines or mini bars.
Great overall experience with the hotel and it's staff
Nice place but in renovations Elevators not all working
We had several issues with the hotel: 1. Very difficult to find the parking lot it was not signed, we had to use a public parking lot to park before we could go an register as guests. Then go back get our car and find the other parking lot. Before we went to our car we had to physically walk to see where the parking lot entry was, if not we would not have found it. There is no sign!! 2. They... plus
We stayed 2 nights at the hotel with a 1 year old and it was great. Great location to walk or take transit from. All around a good value for the price.
I needed good access to McGill University and the Via Rail Station
very clean room. comfortable beds and linen. flatscreen, large desk with working area. I had a week stay and my room was cleaned everyday and everything i had to go do was in walking distance. Close to McGill University, museums, high end shops and many restaurants, walk to train or transit system. Fair price. I would stay here again.
Hotel Room was not ready upon arrival, check in was to be at 4:00. Room Service never came to clean our room on our second day.
Better than expected. Very nice room and appointments. Only complaint was slow restaurant service. Definitely will recommend it to others
Location super, close to shops, cafés, McGill+ museums
Hotel staff was very accommodating, so was staff in breakfast room and bar. Rooms were pleasant and quiet. An additional pleasant feature was the small kitchen, fully supplied. Did not use it very much this time, but will during future visits. Can well recommend the facilities to others and will certainly do so. Found the cost of staying very reasonable indeed and the location excellent.
We have stayed at this hotel several times when visiting our daughter at McGill. IT's a great location, across from McGill, and a short walk to the shopping on St Catherinet and the restaurants and pubs on Rue Crescent. The parking garage is in the building and has in/out privileges for $20 per day. I can't comment on the restaurant other than to say it seems rather pricey. But there are... plus
The bathroom should have more space for our toiletries, but we had plenty of room in the bedroom and we managed very well. It is a great place to be
We rented the suite, which had. 2 queen beds and a queen pull out sofa. The beds were extremely comfortable. We especially liked the kitchettenette, which included a fridge/freezer, stove top and oven, as well as a microwave. The location is fantastic and the staff were very helpful and professional. We definitely will rent there again.
The hotel is quite old, but well kept. The double room was very clean and had comfortable beds. I stayed in Montreal for one week, and found this hotel to be well situated. The staff was exceptionally helpful to me at the front desk. I have stayed at this hotel previously and will again.
Run down with basic facilities but great position
One of the worst hotels I've ever been to. On my first trip to Montreal I was highly disappointed. Upon booking I thought the prices were fairly decent, then upon arrival I realized that parking costs $23.00 per day, internet $5.00 per day, and continental breakfast buffet was $16.99. Ridiculous. Not to mention that although our room was okay, the shower leaked every time it was turned on... plus
Great staff upgraded my room for free because of an error
Great water pressure, w clean and good location. Beds were comfortable
This hotel is clean, has great service. There is $5 a day fee for internet, but my room was perfect for my business trip. There was even a kitchenette. The restaurant on the Mezzanine level has quite good food, and the staff are wonderful. The waiter in the evening, and the hostess in the morning, were both very friendly and personable. The restaurant tries to understand about gluten, but... plus
Worst hotel in Montreal over price... I have so many bad thing to say about that place its not even funny...way too expensive bad service, maintenance people don't even know how to switch a remote control for the TV ... No free continental breakfast.. Liking bath and freezer..overall not a good stay very bad stay actually... The only reason why I even put a 1star is because the valet are very... plus
Stay and accommodations were fine HOWEVER, 2 weeks after my stay I was billed $175 for a "no-show" for a night that I had accidentally booked, but was told by a hotel representative he could and would cancel. Upon seeking a refund, the customer service manager told me it was my responsibility to cancel the reservation after I repeatedly told her that the desk manager had told me he could cancel... plus
Great location. Quaint living. Close to everything you need. Rooms are a bit old school and the elevators are small. But it comes with the territory.
great location, right next to crescent street. nice room, too.
Save yourselves a bad experience and stay somewhere else.
They will nickel and dime you every step of the way. Our rooms smelled, service was bad, beds were uncomfortable.
This is clearly a poorly managed organization from the top down.
“This hotel had great service staff, a fantastic location, and the rooftop pool and the view it provides can't be beat.”
“ The hotel was near Museums and Galleries, Famous Architecture, Shopping, and Downtown. Transportation was easy to arrange, taxis, buses, metro, etc. ”
“Location! It was great to step outside the hotel and have many amenities close by. Overall, nice hotel to stay at.”
“Overall a good hotel. Great location. Great price. Courteous staff.”
“This hotel is getting old. The
TV in the room was the smallest one I've ever seen, and the exercise room was very bad. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to one of my friend if the price stay the same. It's alright if you travel for business.”
“This hotel is old and requires updating. Everything is worn. The sofa in the bedroom was completely unacceptable: old, dirty, broken down.”
“It was a good hotel. We are coming back again at the end of October.”
“Very good location for Downtown Montreal access, so good for both business and vacation travelers. Not upscale, though might have been 25 or 30 years ago; needs refurbishing. Kitchenette useful for longer stays and with family.”
“Decor is old and dated. Beds were comfy. Elevators took forever to get. Location was good. Kitchenette was convenient.”
“Do not waste your money. Bathrooms need help, kitchen area is awful and one elevator broke the second day. Night staff absolutely rude and could care less.”
“The hotel was very clean, spacious, the staff was very accommodating and they were very friendly, Im defiantly going to be staying with them again.”
“Loved the hotel. Loved the location. Loved the cleanliness and efficient maid service. Loved the room.”
“I would go to this hotel again. Staff was friendly and the bed was so comfortable.”
“Excellent hotel. Close to major attractions, Bell Centre, St. Catharine's St, McGill etc. Very courteous staff that was willing to go above and beyond. Items that we forgot were available at the desk (e.g.. toothbrushes) and arrived very quickly.”
“Guy at front desk told us we had a no-smoking room. He was wrong. Our room smelled like cigarettes. Parking was quite expensive for a non-holiday. We were directed to a garage because we had an 'SUV' and because of that- the hotel wasn't going to pay for parking. Breakfast was a rip off.”
“We have stayed there many times in the past. The rooms need upgrading great hotel - the cleaning staff needs help. Our bathroom was disgusting. other than that - great stay!”
“This hotel is worth the amount I paid. Great location, close to Downtown. There were a few hairs on one of the beds and the elevators were tiny, slow, and too few for 27 floors. I would not recommend the restaurant and room service ended too early at night. Staff was helpful.”
“Hotel is more than sufficient. The rooms are clean, and quiet. The staff is not the greatest, but they are adequate. The Downtown location of the hotel is fantastic, it is literally right in the middle of it all in Downtown Montréal, just two blocks from St Catherine. I would probably stay there again.”
“The location was fantastic. If you are willing to put with the exceedingly rude staff I would recommend it for a short stay. Interacting with the people that work there for more than two nights would be far too painful. There are plenty of hotels nearby so choose one of them instead.”
“The location of this hotel is great for the center city of Montréal, near the art museum with a number of restaurants in the area. The restaurant associated with the hotel, Le Garcon, has an haute cuisine style. The food is good, but not excellent, some food too salty or sauces too heavy. The room was very attractive. The attached garage very handy. The bar was very expensive, but the rate for... plus
“This is not 3-4 star hotel room had bed and one chair. Very tiny. I've stayed in better budget motels.”
“I stayed at this hotel with 7 of my friends (all young professionals) because it was conveniently located right in Downtown Montreal. We spent much on our 4 hotel rooms and they decided to overcharge us based on a "Security Report" while trying to pretend it was a "Police Report" that was filed (for which we are still trying to figure out what for). While trying to get the situation sorted out... plus
“Overall, I was very pleased with the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised with how nice it was.”
Our encounters with the staff and hospitality system at this hotel were the most unpleasant, frustrating, and inefficient aspects of our trip in Montreal. Front-counter clerks would call us up at 3AM to check if we had guests. At check-out, there were many unforeseen and unwarned costs: we had to pay more than $200 to check out due to parking (understandable at $20/day), internet ($10/day,... plus
“We were pleased with our stay. I have two young children, so it was wonderful to have such a quiet and comfortable room. The roof-top, 28th floor, pool and deck was very fun and had a fabulous view of the city of Montreal! We were disappointed that our mini-van was unable to fit in the hotel's 10-spot SUV/van lot underneath and we had to park a 1/2 block away. This wasn't convenient when our... plus
“The Cantlie was a wonderful base for our three days in Montreal. It was in walking distance to Mont Royal, the shopping district and restaurants. Old Montreal was a farther walk, but an enjoyable one. The staff at the Cantlie were always very helpful with questions they must get asked thousands of times!! This is a place I would definitely recommend!”
“Its star inflation to call this a four star hotel.”
“Great place to stay, a few minor flaws with the room. Would consider staying there again.”
“Le Cantlie Suites is a charming hotel that exudes much of the "old world" charm of Montreal. The lack of parking availability for my SUV led to spending 25$ a night that had I booked a moderately more expensive hotel, parking likely would have been included. The staff was friendly and helpful and everything was clean. Some might find the bathroom small, but it was keeping with the overall... plus
“Provide local maps, info on current festivals, highlight features in posters, handouts, of buffet breakfast, martini bar, pool etc. and specify cost.”
“It was a perfect hotel for the price and location. Overall, I was more than satisfied.”
“Location is great. Front desk staff was very helpful. Bed linens weren't all that clean. Room and public areas were run down. Additional costs for internet and parking was fairly expensive.”
“I walked in for breakfast, no hostess; I sat, no waitress; I saw the buffet at $10.95, there were three items. I was hungry so filled my plate and sat back down where my book and glasses were placed. The waitress berated me saying someone else was sitting there and I must wait to be seated. There were ten empty tables around me - I was insulted and embarrassed. Very poor service.”
“Great location and most comfortable beds I've ever slept in, however, this hotel should not be rated 4 or 5 stars. It's a 2.5- 3 at best.”
“The hotel in general is great. The weather was wonderful.”
“Near central location made this a good choice for business travel to Montreal. ”
“I was surprised that the manager did not offer to have my trousers invisibly mended or. Otherwise we had a delightful time.”
“The kitchenette would be convenient for longer term stays. Windows did not open. We were put on a smoking floor even though we asked for non-smoking.”
“The hotel is conveniently located to restaurants, bars, shopping, and the beautiful month-royal park. The rooms were comfortable and clean. And the staff was friendly and nice about still giving us a low rate when we needed to extend our stay. The galley kitchen was handy even though we did not do any cooking. The shower pressure was so great it felt like getting a massage. For an extended... plus
“I had made the reservations for four people but somehow the hotel said they had a reservation only for two so they charged us extra for the two nights, something that was very hard for me and my friends to afford as we are still students. I think it was wrong that we were not told earlier of this charge. We would have tried to find a cheaper location had we known. The hotel personnel was also... plus
“Good spot to stay if you want to be downtown Montréal. My only complaint was that when booking the hotel (and comparing rates) I was not aware of the $22.00 parking fee. This should be mentioned ahead of time.”
“The hotel staff were okay except for the front desk manager who rudely assumed we were having extra people staying in the room and tried to charge extra $. Everything, from phone calls to Internet access cost extra. Even the ice was 17 floors up from our room! The TV was very small, as was the bathroom - no place even to put a medicine bag. I would not be going back there again.”
“My computer was damaged by the bell staff when I needed to check it for two hours. Totally destroyed and no responsibility from the staff.”
“Overall, an enjoyable stay however hidden costs that were not outlined on the website were unexpected and unappreciated.”
“Friendly staff and great location, but rooms need an update. ”
We had a great stay. The staff was attentitive, and the hotel was warm. It felt rather homey. And the rooms were very oversized.
