Great hotel, great location

My daughter and I stayed for four nights during a college visit to Concordia. The hotel was extremely close to the school, public transportation, etc. The hotel was great! We had a corner room which was huge, great view, etc. I would highly recommend it and I would definitely stay there again!

Great hotel in just the right place

Our GPS was a tad confused getting from 20 to the hotel but after a bit of recalculating it got us there. Parking and check-in were a breeze and our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. Getting back from the hotel to the expressway to 20 and the 401 was the shortest I've experienced in a long time.

We've stayed at the DeFort a few times, as well as chain hotels in Montreal. We will stay here from now on. It is a very nice hotel with extremely clean, quiet, spacious rooms, and pleasant staff. It is also close to many stores, restaurants, and McGill.

Very nice hotel, too bad it is closing down

We stayed twice. This is an amazing hotel for the price. We actually had a third reservation, but were advised to find another hotel (well in advance), as this one is closing down permanently on October 31, 2013.

Decent clean hotel

Stayed here as the prices were far too high in nicer hotels. Service was consistent and pleasant. Parking was very expensive at 21$ a night- not even valet for that price. Don't bother trying to go down into the 'public parking' right beside the hotel before setting it up with the front desk- even though it says $14 per day... plus

Very good value, huge rooms

We stayed here for one night and were really happy. The location was decent, a little farther than some other hotels but still good. The rooms were HUGE especially for downtown Montreal. It's a little dated but they have tried really hard to modernize it and have done a decent job. Decent place for couples, family, single people, etc.

Hotel du Fort has a great location being in the down town area but not that close that it is overly noisy. Close to freeway, restaurants and other in city activities (such as festivals). Rooms are spacious and quiet. Nice breakfast set up and underground parking is available.

We arrived on a Thursday. Noticed that the one elevator that was working was very slow and the hotel was very busy so it took forever to get to the 17th floor. My concerns as a first timer in Montreal were safety, multilingual staff, free wifi and proximity to goods and services. Within one hour of checking in, none these were a concern. The hotel is a high 3 Star...pushing to 4 star.

Have stayed here before and it is a fabulous hotel

We stayed at Hotel Du Fort for three nights. It was so peaceful and the staff were so friendly. It was in downtown. So we parked and got a metro pass, which was super easy to use and tourist friendly meaning it was not a complicated system. Everything was within 5 to 10 minutes on the metro. The staff was courteous, the size of the room was exceptionally generous. It was also very comfortable! While the space was generally very clean, the bathroom had an unclean odor.

A good business hotel in a good location near a number of metro stops. No onsite restaurant but plenty in the immediate vicinity. Clean and comfortable, very quiet. Good value for the money.

Old fashioned furniture in the room, which I quite liked, and the room was huge including a small kitchenette with microwave, etc. But alas, you have to pay extra for each device you want to connect via wifi which feels just about as old fashioned as the furniture, so only four stars.

Great room - it had a fantastic view of downtown Montreal, close to the metro and plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby. I also used the fitness room, which was great. The room was spacious and cleaned meticulously everyday. It even had a mini-fridge!

Great location for shopping, bit further to walk to downtown/vieux Montreal but metro 5 minutes walk away. Felt very safe walking alone in the area even at night (not something I'd do in my hometown of Leeds through choice!).

Good enough

The location is good (right off Rue St. Catherine). Maybe it was the particular concierge person I dealt with, but they did not declare upfront the separate charges for the car parking while they gave me the parking pass. I had to ask them for the amount, which felt very deceptive.
