Great staff/Clean room/Fun bar amd dancing. What else do I need on a night to escape?
An older hotel but well maintained and upgraded. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Would definitely stay in this hotel again.
Old world elegance in the heart of trendy St. Catherine St. Loved the balconly; tested the weather forcast right outside my room to decide what to wear and what not to wear. A fantastic mix of university students and professionals makes this city my favorite. I feel like I'm in Paris but can speak English. This hotel has it all.
A 2 minute walk to St. Catherine Street. Large spacious and very clean room and bathroom. Great piano bar and very nice staff.
Nice Art Deco' environment; great location; great buffet breakfast; spacious rooms; great linen.
This hotel is located in the best area for shopping, restaurants, concerts, pubs, and hiking. It's near the Bell Centre (walking distance) and also near Mount Royale for hiking and to get a great view of the city. The hotel itself reminds me of being in Europe or down south with it's decor and lobby entertainment (the live music one... more
I don't think you could get a better hotel location in downtown Montreal if you tried. Right in the heart of shopping, dining, everything!
The room we stayed in was one that had not yet been renovated so it had kind of a 1980s luxury feel to it, with a pants-press and electric shoe shine machine (which was very cool)....

Good: large room (404), large bathroom, great water pressure, appeared clean, convenient location, pet friendly, polite and friendly staff.
Bad: room smelled awful, like a mix of old smoke and whatever was used to cover it up.
Ugly: old furniture, institutional concrete balcony that overlooked a parking lot, had to step over drop cloths, painting and construction items in the...

Me and my boyfriend stayed here on a weekend getaway and my love for the city of Montreal grew ever since! This is a boutique hotel, located in the heart of Montreal, just off of Ste. Catherine's St. It's so close to restaurants, shopping and nightlife. The hotel has Thursdays club and it also has a roof top pool bar.... more
I had a wonderful time here. the service was excellent. the rooms were clean and bathroom was spotless (and I am usually very picky). The only issue I had was with the wi-fi (the code was expiring very often) and a couple times, the key did not work. but the staff was very friendly and helpful and I had a... more
My husband and I stayed here for three nights of our 6 night house hunting trip. We booked through Hotwire, so we got an exceptional price. We were very pleased with combination of great location and affordable room. Hotel is walking distance to everything you possibly need: very good places to have breakfast (Eggspectation), lunch or dinner (Le Pois Penché) or have a great coffee and desert (Nespresso Boutique). Nice and clean room with king size bed. Poor choice of TV channels. Really outdated balcony. Bar... more
We booked through "Expedia Unpublished Rate" and got a great deal over Easter weekend. We checked in to room 505, a large corner unit with a comfy king-size bed and a huge bathroom. Nice room, close to St Catherine and good places to go in the evening. Noisy bar at night with live entertainment. Bathroom had no bath but large shower
The rooftop gives it 5*. wish it ws just a tiny bit less noisy )
Great Service Cheap Price, Amazing interior, Lots of stuff to do!
Hotel itself was very good, good location and nice and spacious room. I would of really enjoyed my stay and strongly recommended the hotel if it wouldn't of been for the very uncomprehensive and unfriendly staff. For a hotel in this price range ( paid around 750 $ for three nights) I would of expected to be treated way better by the hotel staff. Very unfortunate because the hotel is on point... more
I have stayed at many upscale hotels. This is one of the best. Really there is no reason to leave the hotel. Great food. 2 Dance clubs. 4 Bars. Pool on top of hotel. Great service. Very professional. Little pricey but within my range. Tip: Ask about Happy Hour for Bars.
friendly staff, but the furniture is very old, room is alittle noisy.
Arrival was simple, and easy. Valet parked my car, very helpful in downtown Montreal. Got help with luggage, and very short line at desk. Room was large, comfortable. Balcony was a bonus, though it could have been nicer. Roof pool/bar was seasonally closed, and no work out facilities. Staff was very helpful, rooms were thoroughly cleaned. Location great for shopping, dining, Metro, McGill, and... more
This is an excellent hotel. Very clean. Nice staff. Parking is $20 a night. There's a $13 a night outdoor lot next door. Restaurants, bars, club and lounges are in the hotel plus the back leads to Rue Crescent (Crescent Ave) which is full of more of the same. All the rooms have balconies, however i don't recommend the 4th floor back balconies they're right on the roof. The pool is on the roof... more
I have stayed several times with my daughter; this is our absolute favorite hotel. Huge rooms with balconies, great, long term staff, and an assortment of bars and restaurants for different tastes. The location couldn't be better. The bad news is that Ogilvy, next door, is planning to expand, and demolish this lovely hotel. Stay while you can. We love it.
great experience staying here-friendly staff, nice rooms, nice view of the city and a perfect location downtown
Excellent location in downtown Montreal. Very quiet. Was able to sleep late without any difficulty. Rooms would benefit from update. Would be great if they could add a gym
Overall this hotel was exceptional. Staff very friendly and accomodating. On site parking a plus. Only draw back was the roof top pool was open to the public and very crowded with local residents. Difficult to walk from your lounge chair to the pool.
Great hotel for the price. Much different from large hotel chains. Very enjoyable experience. Looking forward to going back again!
We were there for one weekend. This location does not get any better if you go there for shopping (right at the corner), drinking in the hotel, and restaurants in the hotel. It's not meant to go and enjoy a quiet evening with your spouse. This place moves all the time. That's why we like it.Staff was very friendly... right from the reception, to the doorman, to the valet parking. Room was... more

Stay here at least once a month. Its perfect for the traveler and close to everything.
Hotel in a perfect location for shopping and restaurants. Would stay here again. Staff very helpful. Recommended a nice bus tour of the city which was fabulous.
I got a pretty good deal here on some travel site or other, and with that I launched into a city I knew absolutely nothing about. This was a couple of years ago now, and I'm not cool enough to have had any sort of smartphone then - no urban exploring with Yelp apps or anything else to help me out. So the fantastic location, I quickly found out, is really helpful. Wandering blindly around this... more
We experienced a wonderful time at this hotel. The room was extremely comfortable. The only complaint I had was the lack of lighting in the room. We did use room service and they were very prompt. My only disappointment was the desserts we received. The apple pie was more of an apple tart and I have never seen a creme broule with a pie crust on the bottom and the sugar topping was burnt.
It's easy to feel at home in this hotel with its old world charm. The rooms are huge and the beds are so comfortable! Thursdays Restaurant is not to be missed--and you don't even need go outdoors to get there. The desk clerks are... more
We have stayed here 5 years running and will continue to do so in years to come. Montreal is a difficult city to navigate by car, valet it at the Hotel De Lamontagne and walk to all this incredible city has to offer! Our stay here is always trouble free, where else can you say that the staff has not changed in 5 years!
In general the hotel is nice. The staff is helpful. My room originally is on the side facing the fans from some restaurants. It was quite noisy even at the night. So, they moved my room to the other side of room which is quieter.
the hotel is strategically located next to the main shopping area, restaurants lined crescent street, metro station peel and central railway station. Though it appears at first a bit old fashion, you start to enjoy this old world charm once you stay in the hotel. the room is spacious and equipped with a shoe polisher and a device to press your pants or skirt, very useful when you are on... more
Perfectly situated. Although the rooms were spacious, they were dated. The service was poor. We found ourselves opening the door for the doorman rather than the other way around.

My overall experience at this hotel was a good one. We checked in without any problems, the staff was very attentive, the room was comfortable and large, the bed was especially comfortable. It wasn't anything special. The lobby was a little bit cheesy but nicely displayed. Service was aloof. The location is fantastic, but be warned that this is not the place to stay if you are looking for a good night's sleep. You'll hear groups of partiers on the streets and in the hallways until the wee hours of the morning. If you're a light sleeper consider other locations or bring earplugs.
$200 a night avg is what I paid - and the room was clean, smoke-free and we were given lots of fun little freebies. The bed was heavenly... really. We got off to a rocky start, but it turned out that Orbitz messed up the reservation. Some reviewers might have faulted the hotel, but we found them to be very gracious and the front desk attendent went out of his way to take care of us. From the moment that we arrived to the time we left we could not have been made to feel more at home than at Hotel de la Montagne. Location is first rate, the staff courteous and warm. Close to the Museum of Fine Arts, just a few blocks from the Metro and from all that Montreal has to offer.
The underlying factor was the door to one of the rooms. I had 2 room next to each other. One room, after using the keycard a few times stopped working. every time I put the card in it would not give a green or red light, it would give nothing. The other door worked fine. On our way out I went down to inform the front desk that there was a problem with the door (there were 3 people there I did... more
This hotel was much bigger than expected. The rooms are quite large and the beds and bedding are extremely comfortable. I almost wanted to stay in bed all day. Meaning you can only turn the volume up to a certain point which is good and bad. It is... more

We stayed in hotel for 3 nighs. We liked hotel for: location, cleaness, good food, etc. And #1 - very friendly staff from reception desk to the service at the restasurant and doorman. Big THANKS trom Texas.
The hotel rooms and service were outstanding. Great doormen and friendly, helpful service desk. However, there is a nightclub attached to the lobby area, as well as a nightclub on the roof top of the hotel. The rooftop club produces a constant queue at the hotel elevator (the same elevator guests use) from about 5 p.m. onward. The nightclub attached to the lobby is VERY loud. It is difficult to... more
The hotel is nice and the front desk staff were pretty helpful. The bar staff was not very useful or friendly. The rooftop pool is open to the public so it makes for an extremely busy, college aged clientele. Unless you get there early, you will have no chance of lounging and enjoying the place. This also affects the elevator use as they are constantly being used to move people to the 20th... more
Great location & price. A bit noisier this time of year due to street festivals. The very young crowd going to roof top pool & bar was constant but under control with a separate elevator. Pool really for young singles.Staff was bery attentive & helpful.
If you are a young person who likes to party, this is the hotel for you. There are plenty of bars/restaurants who cater to you steps from this hotel. The week we visited, the noise from the bands in the street were so loud that it made sleeping impossible. This hotel draws the single swinger to its bar on the rooftop terrace and also to the hotel-connecting Thursday's bar. For middle-aged folks... more
Great location in Montreal. Good size room with large bath , walking distance to Crescent St. Great Piano bar with nightly entertainment. Excellent Value for downtown Montreal. Will be staying there again on our next visit. Excellent staff , friendly and helpful.
Stayed at the hotel for a bachelor party. Great location right in the heart of Montreal. Steps to Crescent St and walking distance to almost anywhere. There is a pool open to just guests in the morning that becomes Terrasse Magnétic, a club. Fantastic spot to start and end your night. The staff was awesome, very friendly and courteous.
Hotel de la Montagne is a great hotel overall. There are some cons, but the pros over weighted them on our trip.We stayed there for 3 days on a mini vacation. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant in the hotel, Thursday's, was way in the back of the hotel, up AND down a series of steps, not convenient at all.
Very charming hotel. Service is just ok but the rooms were nice and it's located in a great spot for those who want to explore the city.
Have always loved this hotel 4th visit. Unique in its atmosphere.
This was a really nice hotel. It was clean, it was super comfortable, and quiet in the room although there were lots of activities on the main floor. The breakfast was delicious. Well located and easy to cab around.
Spacious clean room, very nice facilities for breakfast, lunch or to just spend some time, and a great location, all for a very reasonable price.
Fitness room is the only thing missing.
Girls weekend away, perfect location for shopping, restaurants and nite life!!!!!!!!!!
The staff was gracious and patient. We were able to go picnicing and exploring at our leisure. We look forward to returning.
After 11am this pool is open the general public with live DJ.This hotel is nice during the day as you can just go sit at the bar/resto and enjoy your day with a few drinks.
My significant other and I visited Montreal on a whim this year and we had an amazing time. Hotel de la montagne was all that we hoped for and more. I loved staying at this hotel. The location was superb. The staff was always helpful with where to go and eat. They also assisted us with how to get there. Great location. Clean Renovated rooms. Building is a little old and pool is small but rooftop bar is nice.

Hotel de la Montagne was a great launch point for enjoying all the art, culture and fine cuisine Montreal has to offer. In particular, this is the spot for partaking in Montreal's nightlife.
The room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. The hotel is centrally located in the city and close to the metro. The hotel is also a very popular spot for the pool bar and remains a party spot until closing (3 AM). The only downside was the pool was open to the public after 11:30AM and too crowded for the hotel guests to use.
Perfect for long weekend getaway. Terrace bar and pool were a super plus. Fun dance clubs a few floors away in same hotel! Great location in downtown Montreal. Walking or Bixi distance to everything, including jazz festival, historic district, MontRoyal, shopping, cool neighborhoods. Next time, I'll stay longer to lounge by the pool with a cold drink.
Booked with expedia and got a beautiful room and huge bathroom. I had read the reviews and was nervous about the noise factor especially since my room was near the elevator. entering hdlm is like being transported to another time. there are not many great options in montreal that offer a room with two queen beds and balcony. it's not a minimalistic modern property by any stretch but it fair value for our needs.
Let me start off by saying, the location of this hotel is fantastic, and I would probably return here, solely for this reason. The rooms were adequate, and clean, although we were unable to get a renovated room since they were all booked up at the time of our stay. The major downfall of this hotel was the way we were treated by the hotel front desk staff and the security guard. One of the best hotels in montreal.Central location to all the party locations. Hotel is pretty friendly but dont overdo it. The balconies are small but they definately add to the already spacious rooms. Thursdays below it is awesome and one of the better bars in montreal.Everytime i go to montreal i stay here and it doesnt look like ill be staying anywhere else.
This place is wild. So much fun if your looking to party. Rooftop pool and bar, nightclub for dancing, lounge in the lobby. There were bars and restaurants everywhere. And lets not forget the funky 80 style suites with large marbled bathrooms and mirrored ceilings above the bed. Good fun
Very nice place...the previous review hits the nail on the head. Very nice hotel right in the heart of downtown. Awesome accomodations, but it is a tad pricey. Has a huge bar "Thursdays" downstairs, giant king beds and robes to boot!!! Posh posh!

as my rating clearly underscores for each of the four criteria --namely, service (score: 5/5); cleanliness (score: 5/5); location (score: 6/5!!); and value (score: 6/5)-- i was very, very impressed with my overall experience at the hotel de la montagne. the staff were friendly and helpful; the hotel room we were in was as spacious, if not more, than the delta for example, at...

About the only good thing with this hotel was the bed & location. The bad? Jack-hammering on the concrete structure, rude employees, poor service, staff entering our room TWICE without asking. d)the confort of the room.

We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past. Very well located for shopping and restaurants. Large rooms back by good service. Lobby can be smoked filled and bar in the lobby can be noisy especiall between 6-8 p.m. Bar on roof during summer months and this can be noisy during summer evenings if one's room is located on one of the top floors. Again, good value and very good locations.

Growing up in montreal, i have had the privelege of staying in a lot of city hotels. Hotel de la montagne is an excellent value and is absolutely gorgeous. It is good for families and for romantic getaways. It also has great nightlife at the bar on the roof.

The bar on the roof and the resturant off the hotel were GREAT! The only thing we didnt like was late into the night you can hear some music from both bars.

In the summer the rooftop pool is busy and wonderful to be at. If there is a big hockey game in town and the Canadians are playing Toronto the place is packed.
there is no finer establishment in Montreal,
centrally located and everything you need and want is nearby.
The Montagne is an old-style hotel in which everything seems to be new. My King Deluxe room was large; the bathroom had a separate bath and shower. There is in-room Wi-Fi although it is not free. Besides the hotel's own bar and restaurant a stairway connects to another bar and restaurant and to a nightclub. There are many more in the area. I liked this hotel very much.
Very noisy lobby and area in general. Food is okay. Overall very disaponted
