Excellent stay at an upgraded hotel

Rooms are average and breakfast was very limited.
It was at the end extremely noisy at night because of a wedding in the palais des congres nearby and people coming back to their rooms.

Pricey for what you get
10 août 2013We just spent two nights at the Hotel le Castel, we purchased the deal for the hotel and granby zoo with breakfast, the deal on their website is $318 for four people which is pretty good. We decided to stay another night and that's where the shocker hit upon checkout. The charged us an extra $170 for one extra night.... plus

Nice place, but not great

Plus side: clean and spacious room. Great pool. Close to a lot of service.
Minus side : air conditionning making a lot of noise. Check in time is late 5pm. That's could be irritating when you arrive earlier.
At the price asked, I believe that we should have access to the room before that.

Good stay with young kids

We purchased the Granby Zoo 1 night package. Check in was good, kids played at the Lego table. Went to sleep quickly, hallway was quiet for having a lot of kids staying in it.
Rooms clean, beds comfortable. Breakfast was great, a little disorganized but that didn't bother us any. More lego toys in the restaurant.

Very pleasant atmosphere
22 juillet 2013Really nice to bring children. There is a sand box and swings and items for fun for children which is well kept. There is even a table of lego blocks near reception desk/entrance. The staff is bilingual and eager to help. The breakfast was very good with eager and acomodating cooks on assembly.

More a motel than a hotel

A clean place close to the Granby Zoo located about one hour from Montreal.
It is nice enough but suffers from the same problems as many hotels in Quebec. It is outdated and not much fun.
Internet connection is free but so slow , it is barely usable for more than e-mails. Even Youtube does not work on it. Maybe...

Better take breakfast at Chez Cora
28 août 2012Don't expect a 4-star breakfast in this 4-star hotel. A bit disappointing. I had the Zoo package, and was expecting a better déjeuner, but bottled orange juice, bad-tasting muffins and high complexity on how to order your food made me feel really disappointed. Better take breakfast at Chez Cora not too far.

The staff are friendly. The room are of a typical standard i.e. Plenty big enough , two beds, clean, effiecient shower.
