this is a very classy and chic hotel, for the rooms and the other amenities as well. they host many parties here, and my employer had a party here once that was mind-blowing. it apparently didn't cost a lot either!

Beautiful hotel, was tough finding parking around the hotel.
Beautiful Hotel!! Amazing service and very comforting decor. My favourite part of the stay was the art around the hotel, it's a very unique ambiance. Although the internet in my room was a cord, the lobby and restaurant had free internet and was very beautiful as well. I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends and family!!
It's a pretty good bar with fast service. They have changed their menu so it's not only dominated by raw seafood, and I prefer it that way because I don't like the seafood raw. Their burger is pretty good and their chocolate mousse with raspberry center is excellent! They should keep the chocolate mousse dessert for sure. It's good that they used what looked like a whole wheat bun for the... more
The inconvenience was unparalled... I unwittingly booked through hotel.com, an intermediary of Expedia, simply because I googled Hotel Arts and got that as a number. The person on the phone did not make clear that I was not speaking directly to a Hotel Arts employee. As a result I prepaid about $1500 for 5 nights. When I showed up to check-in I was refused my check-in unless I could provide a... more
Overpriced and inconvenient. The room was pretty, but awkward and barely functional. Internet was $11 a day. Not worth anywhere near what we paid for it.
Only had cocktails, but they were excellent. Recommend the martini
Watch you bill! I reserved a room for one night at this hotel, which my mother-in-law paid for at time of check in. The following day I made sure to go to the front counter to check out and make sure the bill was settled. The desk staff indicated it was. A few days later I checked my credit card and I was charged for the room. When I called, the girl from accounting said I was actually charged... more
We, (my wife, myself and her parents) booked this hotel through Priceline.com and received a great deal. Lucky for us. The rooms were small, the TVs did not work, the bathrooms have the smallest mirror, and were also cramped. The 'heated, year around pool' was not working. There was a reveiw of this hotel stating to stay away from the second floor. My advice ' Stay away from the second floor! '... more
I travel to trade shows across Canada, and the following story happens regularly. I ship items to the hotel, and one of the boxes goes missing. This happened at Hotel Arts, but a funny thing to note, Hotel Arts promptly apologized to me, and then they delivered the box to me at the BMO Centre. I was amazed. That is going the extra mile to me. Losing the box isn't a big deal because mistakes... more
A studio room in a boutique hotel sounded great when we booked it through Expedia - very avant garde. We arrived after a long day, tired and ready for bed at about 10pm. Floor 2 is where these rooms are located and first impressions were of a dark, brown unwelcoming corridor. The room was no better and was hot as hell and dark as a mine shaft! We complained to the front desk and were told the... more
stay away, they tried to gouge us 15 dollars a DAY FOR wi-fi connected at poor speeds, However, Calgary is a tech city so it was one of the first cities to have wide area wifi, we got FREE wi-fi from WESTNET Wifi, when the front desk asked why we didnt buy the wifi from them at checkout, i told him why and he got offended. sorry man not paying 15 dollars a day times 7 days ( a week) for... more
I loved the atmosphere of the hotel. Very chic.
The Valet were very helpful. Front Desk agents were prompt. and the view of the city from my window was fabulous!
The outside is not very impressive but the inside is all you expect from a luxury hotel: big rooms, large flat screen TV, very clean, outstanding service, everybody seem to be there to help, nice bar and a good restaurant! I will certainly go back there if in Calgary again.
When the remodeling of this hotel is done it will be a regular on my list when I go back to Calgary. I'll be anxious to see what's done with pool area. The service was friendly.
the hotel arts is a hotel in a class all by itself, I was truly impressed from the second I step into the lobby. The artwork were unique and extravagant, its like actually living in an art gallery. Along with the arts there were two very nice restaurants and also a very efficient room service. The staff was very nice and assisted in every way possible they know to make one feel welcomed. It is... more
I've stayed at Hotel Arts many times and liked it but had no idea they had such basic rooms available. It was ok. A comfortable bed and decent space but the bathroom was tiny with a lousy shower stall. I would recommend booking directly with the hotel for a better room.
One night in Calgary at the end of a lovely 4 week holiday in Canada & what a treat to stay at the Arts Hotel. From checkin service was fantastic, friendly, efficient and helpful.Staff service was a highlight both at checkin and in Raw Bar - helpful, cheeful, friendly just great. The location suited perfectly with an easy walk into centre of town and access to CT train. The bonus upgrade topped... more
by Jordan (from Calgary ) July 2011 - Hotel Arts is located in downtown Calgary, a little out of the way of all the noise and crowds. It's a close walk to all the popular restaurants and bars though, making it a great place to stay if you like nightlife. We stayed a night in one of their regular rooms, which I found to be quite nice, classy and comfortable. I will say that I was a bit bothered... more
by Lindsay (from Calgary) July 2011 - Although we are from Calgary, we booked a night at Hotel Arts to celebrate our anniversary. The website is beautiful so I had to try out the hotel. They have a good deal if you book in advance. We received 20% off our room for booking two weeks in advance. It's not much to look at on the outside and is obviously an older building that has been renovated and... more
The location of the hotel was very good-close to Telus Convention Center-restaurants-shops-walking distance. The bed was soooo uncomfortable. I woke up with back pain. Another thing, the hotel charges extra $150.00 "deposit" just in case you trash the hotel room..that is what the manager told me...that made me wonder???...mmmm. I wanted to pay cash but was told cash was not accepted ONLY CREDIT... more
I would recommend this hotel to others. The hotel is beautiful the lobby was very appealing, the one big disappointment was that the rooms were very nice and then you go into the bathroom and the bathtub is from 1980! It looks like they ran out of money and couldn't replace the tubs and also rushed to put new taps and faucet on the tub, which was crooked and not done well. I think the price is... more
Within easy walking distance of artist run centres and the Glenbow Museum (as well as the Avenue Diner -- a breakfast must!). Staff was courteous and efficient. The room was well appointed. Will stay here again.
Well, me and a very good friend, we decided that for her birthday, we would have a stay away from home. :)So we turned to Hotel Arts. And it is by far, the best decision I have made in a very long time. When I got there, the staff was courteous, I had a convenient early check in, which was very speedy as opposed to other hotel chains that I've stayed at.There was one blip throughout the night.... more
We went to Calgary for the Stampede and left purchasing accommodation to the last minute. In a city full of overpriced hotels during Stampede, Hotel Arts was reasonably priced and only 3 blocks from the Stampede! The hotel lobby was really nice, the pool and surrounding bar/restaurant was nice too. The main complaint we had was our room stunk of smoke (like someone had just vacated the room... more
I have stayed at this hotel a number of times and have never been disapointed. The rooms are comfy and beds amazing. The bedding is luxurious, furnishings sleek, stylish and comfortable. The two restaurants / lounges in the hotel are excellent. I have rec'd great service, always exceptional food, lovely cocktails and a great atmosphere to top it off! The hotel is in a great... more
My wife and I enjoyed a romantic weekend away from the kids and our experience at Hotel Arts was nothing short of fantastic. Staff are super friendly and eager to help. Rooms are very cool (beds are incredible and the enormous flat screen TV was a nice touch).
The Hotel Arts merges hospitality and high culture with delightful results.
by peggy (from calgary) November 2007 - The Hotel Arts merges hospitality and high culture with delightful results. The chic lobby also acts as a vibrant gallery, featuring the works of Brad Harms and a glass sculpture by Barry W. Fairbairn. Upon entering, the staff are welcoming and informative, and eager to show off the works that adorn the walls. The furniture is strikingly modern yet... more
Surrounding area a bit rough. Hotel itself very comfy, esp the beds. Large amount of construction work going on in the area right now, so expect relevant noises to commence around 0700. Staf good, very friendly. Rooms had huge LCD TVs in them, I was able to play movies from my laptop through them
Liked the decor but not necessarily to everyones taste. Friendly staff, great restaurant and very comfortable bed.
