My review of this Chinese restaurant , In one word its bland, you listen to the reviews and you can't wait to visit, the chicken balls you could use for tennis balls, you need a steak knife to cut them, the rest of the food not that good, this isn't the best Chinese restaurant in Halifax.

Just ok chinese food

We ate here twice this past week - with actual chinese people. We found some dishes to be over-seasoned while others lacked flavor. Beef with broccoli was good. Singapore noodles is overpriced. Fast service though.

well respected, friendly restaurant

This restaurant is hidden on the street right behind the waterfront. It provides great Chinese food, great dim sum. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Appropriate for families, large groups, and individuals.

The Great Wall is an excellent place to go for lunch. The food is delicious, the service is fast and the prices are great value for money. . The staff is also very friendly.

Centrally and conveniently located for visitors and business diners

The Great Wall Restaurant is a basic Chinese restaurant. Basic, but nicely done decor, friendly staff, reasonable service, convenient location and open a good range of hours.

Unless you've been to China you won't know the Difference

The Great Wall is as authentic as most westerners could handle. When we arrived for Sunday Brunch there were no forks or knives on the table and no English on the menu. It is good Chinese food. I stop here often because it is fast and a great value for the portion of food. It is located downtown Halifax convenient to most hotels. I have been invited to this restaurant while on business in Halifax so it is a popular local spot.

Worst chinese ever

I never had such a bad experience. Food was just warmed up and i had the impression of something re-heated. I can't believe that this is a good place like others wroted. Use to eat chinese in every city i visit but this was not even food! We left the "restaurant" after the first mouthful.

Excellent Depending

The Great Wall has some really good dishes, the egg roles are to die for.
The Spring Rolls not so much.
The fried rice is a disappointment it always has a "propane" flavor from sitting in the warming trays too long.
Despite those provisos it is one of our favorite restaurants.

Authentic

We stop by for Dimsum any time that we are in Halifax, it can't be beat! Also they have two menus one for regular typical Maritime style "chinese" with chicken balls and whatnot and one with authentic chinese style cuisine.

Dim Sum, lunch and dinner

Patrick is the consumate host at Great Wall. He is eager to make your meal a great experience all around. Sunday dim sum is crowded, but very authentic to what you would find in Hong Kong. Great Wall also does some nice Cantonese, Hunan and Sichuan dishes. The hot and sour soup is the best we have eaten in town.

Having lived in China for 2 years, I can tell you it's hard to get the same here (Western world) as you get in China.
