This place is one of my favorites for wings. Cheap, decent food, rotating taps and a good atmosphere. The servers are pretty sad though. We had to ask for menus more than once, and the wings took forever to come up (+30 mins). This place would be a 4.5 star if it wasn't for the service

It's a pub with a pub atmosphere. but unusually awesome food...Friendly staff and affordable. What else do you want for a lunch with a buddy

The menu has changed and sis and I tried the fish tacos (awesome) and chicken mini burgers. We like that it is close and the drinks are well priced. Give it a try as the food is good!!!

New kitchen with some great tasting new food! Plenty of parking out front, Sundays is ALL STARS KARAOKE - different than the karaoke they have Thurs and Sat. The Sunday karaoke is AMAZING - huge live sound - lights, smoke, digital song books - tons and tons of song choices!

You can play electric darts and pool behind a glassed area - so the karaoke is less intrusive if it ain't your thing.... more

-4 stars for charging 4 jugs of Stella to my friend's tab when we didn't order any Stella. Thanks for the rip off! Also the Waitress gave herself a 20% tip when we would have given a 10%.

Got the nachos again. Super greasy, uncooked cheese. Honestly this place just cannot serve you a good order of nachos

Majorly disappointing. For a pub the nachos were horrible. How about some cheese with my chips?

The waitress spent more time texting on her phone behind the bar than asking us if we needed anything or bringing us the bill.
The craft beer selection was pretty mainstream, but it's better than nothing. Decent price but the wait staff need to know their beer.

Looks like they updated the calamari to use lemon wedges now. Actually not bad, but the calamari was a bit on the spongy side.

The nachos come with 3 large bowls of toppings (salsa, cheese sauce, and sour cream), which is definitely nice. The toppings (especially the green onions) are fresh too. Unfortunately, the layering leaves a lot to be desired.

I went to the Great Bear Pub as a recommendation by a friend. The karaoke was a great addition. The service was terrible , our server Caitlin was inattentive and seemed to ignore us when trying to flag her down, walking right by us numerous times without so much as an acknowledgement. One of the few neighborhood pubs in my area. It's not the best, but unfortunately my options are limited. Can't complain in the service or drink selection, both are good. The food is slightly better than typical pub grub, when executed properly. If you have a better pub in mind or in your area I wouldn't go out of your way to come here instead.... more

Still winning me over! Reasonably priced and sized pitchers of beer, half price appys are delicious! The Jamaican steak bites are always good and cooked to perfection. Love the little offsales store attached, which after reno's is really stepping up their craft beer selection.

It's a pub. It has pub food. Pub drink. A pool table. TVs and more going on. Going there on a Staurday evening a bit on the early side it was quiet enough to enjoy conversation and service was very attentive as well.

Haven't been in the pub but the liquor store has some great beer selections. I love ipa and they always have a good amount available.

went there and took the table to sit. waited for 10 minutes for anybody to talk to us and tried to call server with no success. we had to leave due to disability to make order.

Paying for the food was also painful. i was standing there for 8 minutes for the waiter to come and do the payment.

I have to say, I really appreciate this place. If it was downtown or closer to a hub of things, I might not notice but because it's not super distinct but because it's right near my hotel I am loving this place.

They do pitchers, they have great local beer on tap, their food is hit and miss and the atmosphere isn't stellar but they are a great place to have a pint during the week or watch... more

Since I don't like greasy food and rarely order them, I can't tell what other food are like in this place. Once I ordered chicken wing which was not good at all, but salmon burger was very good. We ordered today beef dip sandwich was very good, so as yam fries & good salad with flavorful citrus salad dressing. Server was pretty and attentive, so as other server last time. I like the Great Bear Pub. It's just that the food at Great Bear is really inconsistent. Not to say it's ever really great, because even at best, it's just fine. Yet I keep coming back (although with slightly less enthusiasm with each visit).

Was where on a weeknight. Not busy. Good service, nice server. Food came hot and as ordered - apply hour was a bonus. Appy Hour is 3-6pm. Bar Manager was polite and friendly. Wing special was good but wings were deep fried and covered in choice of sauce. Overall a nice, regular bar/pub evening. Friendliness and politeness go a long way - and it did here! We will be back!

The pitchers of beer served here are ridiculously small. In fact it is the same size as my mug i used to get filled at Arts Club Bzzr Gardens at UBC in the day. But they did make up for this with their well portioned half-size nachos.

I had a burger here last night, and it was just average The beef patty was pretty small, and the bun did not seem very fresh. The service was good, we had a attentive waitress that made sure we had everything we needed. For that reason it gets a 3 stars instead of 2.

The Great Bear can be good and bad depending on servers and whether it's their awful karaoke night.
I used to come here when it was Delaney's and loved it much more then (even though it was scuzzier and old-man barish).
They have good specials and the food is good ol' pub food.
Went here for my birthday once and had lots of fun. I recommend visiting!

The food isn't great and the service can be anywhere from decent to terrible depending on the waitstaff. The people (both patrons and staff) are, without fail, plesant, though. It'll do in a pinch and their beer selection helps.

I'm quite happy to have found this place. It's about a 30 minute walk from my digs, and has quality food and attentive, friendly staff. It's a great place to unwind with a book on a weekday afternoon (I work early mornings and weekends, so nightlife is not my thing).
