I can only base my review on take out because i have only eaten it when my parents bring it home. It is one of our favourites. I LOVE their prawn noodle soup dish that they only have on the weekends, It is so tasty with big slices of egg in it.

The place is still in transition some months into their move across the street into a real restaurant premises. I don't know why the name and address are not updated on Trip Advisor, but perhaps that would change in due time. We arrived yesterday evening right after their Wii Game Night (Fridays 4 - 7 p.m.); so the LCD projector... more
Located in a waning food court with a char siew rice stall on the right and a Filipino food stall on the left, Gourmet Garden offers an overpriced menu of Singapore/Malaysian food. I've avoided anything "sambal" since they once served up vinegar-based chicken and didn't give a refund. Otherwise, the satay, char kuay teow, laksa, etc., are okay.
Sanitation leaves...

I love good Malaysian food but it’s not easy to find a place to will do it properly. Gourmet Garden fixes that for me. It’s part of a food court so it’s not an actual restaurant bur sometimes it’s these places that serve the best food. I was in heaven trying Asam Laksa, Mee Goreng, Oyster Omelette, Hainanese Chicken and rice, Satays, and so many others. During the weekend they even have Roti... more
It has moved across to the north side of Sheppard Ave. The place is huge and confortable now, and is full of people at nooon on a Saturday. The food remians the same price, but the portions, AND the ingredients have both shrunk! Something has the give, I guess, but I would rather a price increase than a reduction of... more
This is the best place I have found that serves authentic assam laksa, popiah and nonya kueh like in Malaysia. I come from Ipoh which my family considered as the best place to eat in Malaysia. I used to have the most delicious popiah near the old theatre or Kong Fatt in Ipoh. Gourmet Garden makes the best popiah. I have been overseas for over thirty years and this is the best place yet. Now... more
I went last weekend and found the place in an outdoor plaza. Reminds me of Ipoh Garden with all the hawker stores. You order and then wait for the vendor to call you over. Left Malaysia about 30 years ago and this is the best Malaysian food vendor I have come across. I tried the assam laksa and it was aboslutely just like back in the days when I bought my laksa from the Indian guy that carried... more
Ghetto food court style place, with a lot of character.

True south-east Asian cuisine in an out-of-the-way food court. Probably the only place in the Greater Toronto Area serving Poh Piah on weekends!
