Welcome to the Gatsby Restaurant, a new dining experience in one of the Inner Harbour"s most historic and cherished landmarks.
Built in 1897, this white clapboard Victorian across from the Seattle–Port Angeles ferry terminal has been fully restored and now serves as a B&B-style inn, along with two other heritage houses. With its hand-painted ceramic-tiled fireplace, rich wood paneling, stained-glass windows, frescoed ceilings, and crystal chandeliers, it evokes a turn-of-the-20th-century elegance with a dash of kitsch.... more
The ambience and character of this majestic old mansion is a delight. Unfortunately our lunch failed to inspire and left us disappointed that the gastronomic experience didn't match its harbour. The soup of the day (tomato - goat cheese and perhaps crab?) was puréed v thick, lacked all depth of flavour. Granted the serving was massive, it's only virtue. We also shared an endive salad along w... more
A Victoria Weekend trip is not complete without some afternoon tea. Initially we had our heart set on Afternoon Tea at The Empress, but they were completely booked. The Gatsby Mansion is just a short walk away along the water. The tea room was very bright with windows all around letting in natural light all around. Our server was very friendly. When we called to make an early reservation she... more
Walking distance from the Victoria Clipper dock and walking distance to the Inner Harbor and downtown Victoria. The room wasn't modern, but part of the attraction was staying in an old Victoria mansion in Victoria!
I prepaid when I booked the room in Jan. 2014. Upon arrival, they acknowledged that I had prepaid but required me to submit a credit card as preauthorization of $100.00 for incidental charges against the room. Upon departure, I was informed that there were no other charges but didn't give me a statement. When I returned home, I discovered they charged me AGAIN for the room WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE... more
Great 'Olde Worlde' style hotel, original features which I hope they never change or update. Rooms could do with a lick of paint but that's all. Food was good as was the service - great stay.
The hotel is an older building and the stairs creaked but we had the room against them and never heard them other than when we were using them ourselves. The resturant was great for breakfast. The food was wonderful and the table by the window is fantastic. We arrived by foot on the ferry and the location was perfect.
We booked 2 rooms. The room wiht the king bed was great. The other room with a double bed needed the carpet cleaned. The beds were very comfortable in both rooms. We enjoyed the antiques and the feel of a grand old house. The hotel could use some refurbishing. The restaurant had great breakfasts. We enjoyed our stay and would go back.
Nice, old mansion accommodations, as expected. Long steep stairway made getting bags upstairs somewhat of a struggle, although I guess a bellhop could have been sent over from the neighboring hotel.
We only went into the restaurant for breakfast. I found the hotel itself very interesting. The food was excellent, but the waiting was too long.
If you are expecting the chain experience walk on past the Gatsby Mansion. If you want a quaint experience in a revitalized older home stay at the Gatsby. Clean, spacious rooms; beautiful dining room open for meals and convenient to the ferry.
The exterior and ambiance is very misleading! We had breakfast before boarding the Victoria clipper Ferry across the street. It was probably the worst egg, sausage and potatoes combination we've had anywhere. They charged $13 for three undercooked "BananaRum Pancakes" ! I wouldn't pay $3 for it!
I stumbled across this lovely old mansion which is now a restaurant. It is part of a complex which includes a hotel as well. Afternoon tea was affordable and delightful!
My husband & I stayed here recently for 3 nights. We were really excited about staying is such a beautiful old style property with a four poster bed. The location is excellent, however we were disappointed by the service and the room. We were put on the third floor in "the LOFT" , the room was smaller than expected and there was NO 4 poster bed as requested. The room was certainly not like the... more
The restaurant at the Gatsby was way overpriced, however Artisans Lane was great, local artists have little shops all along the back of the mansion. The best part was meeting Mary who was featured on Dragons Den with her lovebird Luigi who tears pieces of coloured paper and then Mary makes them into intricate works of art as cards. She... more
Gatsby is in need of renovation but was still fine for our needs, especially because of the location. Easy walk to harbor and main areas of town. Excellent food in vicinity. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast at hotel was a bit pricey but very good.
You can't beat the view from the balcony of this hotel overlooking the inner harbour or having breakfast on the patio. However, the physical upkeep of the suite was lacking in a few areas. The drain in the bathroom sink didn't hold water, which took forever to heat up. And if you like taking a shower in the morning like I do, there wasn't one. The bathroom door didn't close fully. Half the... more
ホテルの外観、お庭には綺麗なお花が歓迎してくれるかの様に咲いていて良かったです。 ただ、お風呂にはシャワーが無く、バスタブだけで驚きました。 娘と行くには良いが男性は難しいかも。
Needs work! Everything old, musty smell. Linens and comforter in terrible shape.
The garden are fine, but overall looks like the building is tired Located right in the golden triangle tourist area, They seem to have ra restaurant and bar, but they did not look to be open, we tried once in t...maybe they are changing what is there. It is a large piece of property with not much commercial activiety
Lovely veranda and tea service. View of harbour and is situated in not so busy an area. One can also book a stay there.
Great little hotel with a lot of charm and character. If you want someplace that is not cookie-cutter, and feels like you're staying in an old Victorian home, a la Anne of Green Gables or the like, this is your spot. We stayed in one of the most inexpensive room options, and it was still lovely and large, with a great view of the harbor. Would definitely go again, and would recommend to others.... more
We went to explore Victoria's history and this was a great place to start. We loved staying at the mansion because it was just something out of the ordinary. The staff was super friendly and I will book a room here again for our next trip.
Our stay at the Gatsby Mansion was exceptional, the staff went above and beyond making us feel like royalty on our 40th anniversary.
Thank you to one and all, especially Kristen for a wonderful stay.
we enjoyed the High Tea at the Mansion. It was complete with little sandwiches and desserts and of course tea. Staff very helpful. Overall a nice experience
Spent one night at the Gatsby and loved it. Bed was perfect, hotel was full of character and charm, location couldn't be better. The only drawback might be the lack of showers -- we loved the clawfoot tub, but if you have to have a shower, be sure to ask for a room with one!
Situated facing the Inner Harbor near the Coho Ferry terminal, Gatsby Mansion is full of Old-World style and elegance. We chose it for our monthly breakfast with friends.
The Bennies that dominate the breakfast menu were great helped by a stellar Bearnaise sauce. Coffee, above average for a restaurant (ie, not at all bitter and acidic.) We appreciated the complete...

If you are looking for a modern new hotel then this is not the place. If you were looking for character and charm then this is definately the place. It was very quaint, historic and if you were looking for a romantic getaway with a very unique feel then I highly recommend this place. we loved it.
Property needs to be modernized even if its historic. Carpets worn and stained. TV non-functional. We moved to the next-door sister property, Huntingdon Hotel after first night at Gatsby. At least this property was of 1960's vintage. Can not beat location.
Will stay their again great location. Fabulous staff
What better way to spend our last hour or so in Victoria than on the porch of a Victorian mansion having afternoon tea. Located about 2 blocks from the ferry terminal it was convenient and very tasty. Berries and cream fresh, savory sandwiches great, blueberry scones hot, and the sweets delicious. We had an excellent server as well. The mansion... more
The location was superb and historic feel of the home was wonderful. Unfortunately, there was an unpleasant musty smell in the foyer. Perhaps the carpet needs to be replaced. The smell was not in the rooms, the rooms were very nice.
The Gatsby Mansion's new menu is small and well priced for the area and our party of 4 tried several of the options, and found the serving sizes were more than adequate, each dish we ordered like the appetizer share plate, the burger with warm potato salad, the clam linguini, green salads, seafood chowder , etc. were all tasty and... more
New Menu and New Management for the Gatsby Mansion restaurant is worth another try for locals, and worth a try for visitors. Prices are very reasonable, food and service both excellent at a lunch on the veranda, and dinner in the dining room with friends this month. The white linen tableclothes might scare customers in thinking this dining option is expensive, but it isn't for the inner... more
This hotel is a heritage building that needs a lot of interior updating and cleaning. The wall paper is old and peeling off the walls, the carpets are dirty, the sofa is ripped and frayed, it's dusty and looks uncared for.
I enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Gatsby Mansion Inn. The rooms are timeless with lots of space for luggage. Beautiful location with walking distance to the downtown area, has lovely gardens and ponds with outside sitting areas to enjoy. Located on the harbor with near by tourist attractions. The food was amazing and wonderful service by friendly and helpful staff. I would recommend this... more
We've been disappointed here before at breakfast. So when we found out our "mystery dinner" for a local fundraiser was at the Gatsby, it was with trepidation that we arrived for a four course meal. We were pleasantly surprised at the result. Service was impeccable. Table setting and decor made for a wonderful meal for the 8 of us. Each... more
It was a Grand place to stay within short walking distance to "Old Town".
Staff were very helpful, ready to please. Love the period charm of the place, Although it may be lackiing in modern comforts, it is made up for in charm. we were very comfy here.
We were here 20 yrs ago for Dinner. It was so well kept and beautiful. I don't think they have done Anything since then. It is in rough Shape. Even the menu was of no Interest to us. My wife is a red seal Chef and was quite disappointed. I, myself am a master electrician Who has been involved in the Residential industry for 25 yrs as a Business owner/operator. I will not be recommending this... more
This place looked interesting, and as it is nearly right across the street to the ferries that connect Victoria to the USA, it seemed like a potentially very good spot.
Also, they have a sign out front advertising special winter rates.
Thus, it seemed like an intriguing place to explore further as an option for a future trip.
Unique Quality: Looks to be set in a historic waterfront building,...

Gatsby Bed & Breakfast There are many B&B's to chose from, this was right on the Inner Harbor and I'm sure very expensive.
There was nothing really wrong with the room, and nothing wrong with the hotel - especially considering it's age (like lack of enough electrical outlets, need for extra space heater). There is nothing there that shouldn't be expected with a 100+ year-old structure. It is a beautiful building, squeaks and all :) I scored 'convenience of location' & 'surrounding neighbourhood' low only because it... more
We dined on a complimentary continental breakfast here one day. It was really very, very nice. The dining room in the house is just beautiful...white linen tablecloths and really nice place settings. Our waitress was very pleasant. And the biscuits and jam were particularly good. On our next visit we plan on dining there again!
I was the only guest in the restaurant and that doesn't surprise me. The prices were high even for that area, the menu was limited. I ordered a salmon with risotto and the rice was so poorly cooked it was crunchy and there was certainly nothing that resembled a risotto about the dish. As I stated, I was the only... more
We had a lovely time at the Gatsby Mansion/Guntingdon Manor. We stayed in the Judge's House, and had a lovely room overlooking the bay. The brunch in the restaurant was very yummy! We would definitely stay again!
Food is OK by the service is poor...mind-numbingly slow and inexperienced. Poor drinks,...they need a bartender. Soup and biscuits are good. Not going back any time soon.
poor service, lousy drinks, pretty good food. This might be a good place to stay, but should be avoided for dinner.
It was a great place to enjoy the way things use to be.
It's old and not renovated to today's standards... but the for the price and location: loved it! Loved the old style characteristics of the place.
The Mansion looks and feels authentic. The meticulous garden adds to the atmosphere with a nice terrace that offers a beautiful view on the inner Harbour. We took a table outside and ordered the eggs Benedict and an omelet. Both were excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive.
It was what we expected for the age of the building. Location is great.
Stayed there as it was close to Victoria marathon start. Good location and price. Generally friendly staff although the first woman who I spoke with was not pleasant. Very strict about the 3pm check in time. Confusing layout with Huntington hotel and Gatsby mansion-ended up walking through the restaurant to find the lobby based on the address. It was tricky to find my room. Room was fair.... more

We had already checked out of The Empress when we were told that our sea plane was stuck in Seattle due to fog. We had not yet had breakfast, and we had our suitcases with us! We found a place to leave our suitcases and began walking in search of breakfast. That's when we saw this place!
I got excited because I had wanted to eat here when we had passed it a few days before, but it looked too...

Hotel is a historical mansion, so obviously some things are old and part of the charm. But it needs some maintenance and updates, mainly cosmetic stuff, that will make it much better. E.g., there were a lot of tiny holes in the room that could easily have been patched. The doors were scruffed up and could have been easily painted. The light fixture in the bathroom flickers due to loose wiring.... more
We had a very nice breakfast at the Gatsby. It is an amazing old Mansion with good views of the Harbor. The gardens were still in bloom even though it was Sept. The staff are for the most 20 something, issued up...20's, but once your past that it is a complete pleasure. Smoke free rooms, rooms with beautiful views of the inner harbour, perfectly located with every amenitie available within walking distance. One of the first homes built in the area, so if you like architecture you are going to love this.
Very enjoyable and was close to all must-see sights
The Gatsby Mansion and the Judge's House are run like a "Bed and Breakfast". First we were going to be put in a room in the Judge's House but the "Smell" in the room was sicking, we asked to be placed in the "Gatsby Mansion" as booked. I do know what "Old Homes" are like (I come form an old country) but I was not ready for this one. When you go into the foyer of the "Gatsby" you get hit with a... more
The location, the restaurant and the staff made this stay pleasant. The beautiful old building is in poor repair and considerably less than immaculate, and the poorly kept grounds in this fabulous location were problems. There were some real antiques, and many reproductions. The original stained glass windows in the 110 year old mansion were lovely.
Good location with free parking which was a plus. Located within walking distance of everything.
We did have a great view of Victoria's inner harbour. The house is over one hundred years old, and has been converted to a 10 room B + B, so I guess you can't compare these rooms with that of a modern hotel. Our room was in the attic and had a number of issues.
The Good: Great central location, iconic looking mansion, great restaurant, attentive staff. The Bad: 1. Disingenuous/cryptic room descriptions makes impossible to understand the variety of rooms. Although the main building is indeed a historic Mansion, we were put into the "Judges House" next to the busy ferry loading ramp and a bar. I guess I selected that class of room, but honestly, I had... more
Hotel is atractive until you get to your room. We stayed in #1. Carpet inliving area was stained and dirty. The sofa was beyond threadbare. Shredded and foam showing in many spots. Noise at night and early in morning was ridiculous. Entry area looks lovely. Food good but had to go through several items to pick something they had in stock.
Nice Victorian charm. We stayed in the Judge's House. Tall ceiling. Nice period furniture. Great location in the inner harbor, but a little loud, being that it is right next to the Main Street. WiFi didn't work. Breakfast on the deck of the main house was delightful on a nice Sunday morning. Overall great value, especially because parking was included. Extra bonus was the charming maintenance... more
Nice Victorian B&B restaurant with decent food. Not too expensive. Nice location, within walking distance to Inner Harbour.
We stayed at The Gatsby for two nights and loved it! You can't beat the location, and the antique room decor was so cool. The bed was comfortable, and everything was pretty clean. I did struggle with not getting water on the floor from the claw-foot tub/shower, but that's a small price to pay since the tub totally fit the style of the mansion.
Had an awesome meal.... myself and son had the salmon, husband had the apple poached cod... absolutely awesome..
The best place for breakfast. Good location and fabulous waitstaff. The eggs benedict were perfect and the service was even better.
Staff indifferent to concerns. Type of room misrepresented. In spite of excellent location and price, would not return or recommend.
We booked the Gatsby for our 26th wedding anniversary, the room featured was a lovely picture of a King four poster bed with canopy and all the drapery. It looked beautiful. After confirming my booking, which stated a king room with a sofa bed, I checked with the hotel we had definitely booked this room, however the Gatsby said I booked two doubles beds but they would change the booking. The hotel is very old, lots of stairs. Not suitable for elderly or handicapped. No air conditioner, they had a fan in the closet.not very happy with the hotel
The only positive aspect of the stay was the location. Staff uncaring and room as bad as have ever experienced.
The Gatsby Mansion is a heritage building with a lot of history which is pretty cool. Unfortunately, if you are expecting that extra luxury touch you will be disappointed. The bed was old and very uncomfortable(hard as a board). Needs a new and modern mattress and box spring. Taps leaked, layers of dust on top of mirrors and wall on hall side of our room appeared to be collapsing(drywall was... more
I booked a room in the Gatsby house and get a Judge's room. It's right opposite to the inner habour and 5 minutes' walk to major attractions, including the parliament building, the empress, museum, beacon hill park, etc. Great location. Room is victoria style and over 100 year's old. But clean and neat.
Great place, great location, great service, friendly staff. Great price
Bangors and mash--a traditional British food I've heard about but never tried. The sausages were mildly spiced and I was given a generous serving for lunch.
Service was poor. The workers didntbsemm like they enjoyed their job. I had the fried chicken and it wasn't Knotts fried chicken. But the view from sitting outside was beautiful.
We were a little disappointed as we sat outside on plastic lawn chairs to eat an average buffet. The view of the inner harbor and the activity of the street was great. But the food was average and had a little bit of a meal included with lodging in the US.
Why is the restaurant closed?(except for Sunday brunch) I was so disappointed...it is one of my favorite places in Victoria! I don't like buffets so the Sunday brunch had no appeal. Anyways, just hope they are planning on opening again!!
I loved our waitress who shared the history of the house and the area. I had no idea of the haunting. The decor was in keeping with the Victorian theme and the original stained glass was beautiful. Brunch was okay the omelette was done well but the fresh fruit and pastries were supermarket. It was nice to go back in... more
We were the only people in the place on a quiet Sunday night which should've meant we had excellent service but it was only ok. We had to keep seeking her out and asking her for things. And then as we were wrapping up she came in to kick us out as they wanted to lock up..... just... more
Cannot think of a negative comment for this place.
Good location, good food, good service, nicely decorated in Old English style. Waitress was friendly and efficient.
The Gatsby Mansion had a fixed menu for Valentine's Day that was reasonably priced so while in Victoria we decided to try it. The salad with beets and goat cheese was nice except the beets were canned. The crab-cake had nice flavor, but was a bit over-cooked. The Beef Wellington was decent, although was cooked rare and I would have preferred if it had been more pink than red. The dessert, a... more
Extremely quiet for a Saturday night. Only us and two other tables. Server was pleasant, food was ok (steak mediocre) -overall nothing exceptional.
This was my 3rd time back to the Gatsby Mansion and they continue to impress. We were greeted with a warm smile and a very personable server. The food was promte in delivery and both parties enjoyed the experience.I will return and I will recommend to my friends and colleges.
It was a quiet Friday evening when we dined at Gatsby's. We had the prime rib special which was excellent. Service was good but it may have been slow if it hadn't been quiet. The classic "old world " surroundings made for an enjoyable evening.
Great location, terrible service in the restaurant. Staff was stressed, and not well trained. Could have been an off day, but we were catching the clipper to Seattle, and told them we didn't have much time. Other tables that arrived after us got served first.
We had the pleasure of staying and eating at the Gadsby, both of which were excellant. Meghan and D'arcy made our dinning one of the evenings we will remember for a long time. Location of the hotel is very convient to the US ferry and the down town of Victoria. When we come back to Victoria we will stay at the Gadsby.
The Gatsby Mansion is on the same road as the Parliament building, just a little farther down. You can see the Inner Harbor from the windows, although it's not the best view of it. The flowers around the mansion and the building itself are part of what give the place charm. Stained glass windows, crystal chandeliers, flowered drapery, fresh flowers... more
Victoria is a city well blessed with tearooms and hotels serving afternoon tea in the British tradition. We now have a great addition in the Gatsby Mansion which has new owners and a new menu. Great people. Funky place. Good...really good... location. There are three hotels on this property. We changed from the mansion to the "newer" 3-story part of the hotel. Price was good. At an auction we bought a package for two nights at the Gatsby Mansion. After more than half a dozen calls an email exchange over the last three weeks, we were informed that the owners will not honor the auction certificate. Strongly suggest you do your home work before deciding to stay at a place that does not seem to place value on taking care of their customers.
This was a nice addition to our stay...we'd recommend the Gatsby for breakfast to anyone staying or visiting the harbor!
Sunday brunch is fabulous! I had breakfast at Gatsby's every morning of my vacation. Loved it! My waitress, Taylor, was a sweetheart. I will definitely visit Gatsby's again next trip.
This may not be a fair review because it has been some time since we went there. If there is a restaurant in downtown Victoria that trades on location and appearance this is it. Located in a heritage mansion this place looks great from the outside; inside, not so much. The service was inattentive and the prices high. I still... more

Entertaining decor.
WE checked in late and couldn't figure out where to go. No instruction on breakfast so we looked silly going to the wrong place on Sunday. The place was cute and had lots of parking and a fabulous location but I most likely would not stay here again.
It is a great place to have breakfast, especially Sunday brunch! The atmosphere is great and the service friendly and outstanding (esp Taylor) and the food was very good! The cost was very affordable. I also discovered that their rooms were lovely ( victorian ). and quite reasonable. Next time I go to Victoria, I plan to stay at the... more
I think this place is more aptly named a bed and breakfast rather than an inn or hotel establishment, but that's just my take on it.
