Next to draw bridge

Comfy family restaurant with fabulous view of the draw bridge opening and closing when tall boats sail by. We were a party of 4 had sausages with pasta, shrimps with wild rice, grilled chicken, sweet potatoes fries as appetizer, a small Caesar salad and 2 beers. Great meal with tips it was about $110. The service was efficient and great.

Had a great supper

On a lovely June day we dined on the patio, over looking the Welland Canal. Very friendly waitress, we ordered different suppers and every one really enjoyed their meal. Great food and it was fun eating outside, watching a ship go by.

Tonight 7 of us went to this restaurant and had a delicious meal. Everything from the staff, premises, beverages, desserts and the main course were top notch. We will definitely be returning to this establishment. Great job...............Thank you

Nostalgic , great service and food

Just a nice atmosphere for friends and family . Uncomplicated menu ,food prep and presentation was excellent . Everything was fresh, hot and good portions.

Great family restaurant

Let's start by saying the building is older. But it's always clean and has an amazing view of the Welland Canal, Fantastic patio in the Summer with full view of the ships. ( which my boys LOVE)
The food is always consistent and the service is always with a smile.

Great Italian...about forty years ago

A restaurant with a great location beside the Canal...and a great tradition and customer base. But this place needs a makeover. The decor is dated. The menu is dated,with heavy traditional dishes devoid of interesting flavours. It was fine for the group of seniors i was with...but personally, i will wait to hear of their renovation before i go back.

We were staying in the area and this was close to our hotel. Looked good from the outside but we were not impressed with either the food or the service. Good Italian

Have been going to Frados on our yearly visit to the locks for about the last 15 years. We were there on Canadian Thanksgiving day, and although the special was roast turkey we opted for Italian. The veal parmesan, lasagna, and spaghetti and meatballs were excellent. I'd highly recommend a meal ther if you're in that area.

would like to have had a better experience

The food is sub-par, the service is not much better. As this is an Italian restaurant we ordered Italian. Veal Parm and Spag & meat balls for my partner. Veal tasted like it had been microwaved - burning hot and soggy. Although lots of wait staff, good luck getting one of them to actually wait on you. Won't visit again.

Ate dinner there last night and had to send back the Veal Carriciatore as there were two minuscule pieces of what was really pork not veal. For $18 I expect better. Pretty View

Great place to visit when the weather is good, so you can sit outside on the patio. Not so good view of the canal from inside the restaurant. Food is good, portions are good for the price.

Birthday Dinner

My husband and I stopped here after enjoying going to watch ships at the Canal. Salads were crispy and so fresh. I ordered GF Penne; and it was the tastiest I've ever eaten. My husband ordered Chicken Parmesan and enjoyed it immensely. We split a half bottle of Rose wine.

Authentic Italian Food

If you are looking for great authentic Italian food I would highly recommend this restaurant. Being an Italian myself it's always hard to find good authentic Italian food, this place is a regular for my husband and I. Their Eggplant parmigiana and gnocchi are the best!

They are in a perfect location, right on the Wellend Canal. The outside dining area could be cleaned up and made much more attractive. Food was average and average priced. Good service. This place could be so much more with a little work

A local Gem

Excellent Italian food, superb service, friendly homey atmosphere. This is a restaurant that is well known among locals as the place to eat Italian food. Located right on the canal ... you can watch the ships during the shipping season. I take my elderly mother there often when I am in town. A definite favorite.

Great food and waterfront view

We had the pleasure of spending a beautiful couple of hours dining on the canal at Frado's watching the odd boat go by and the drawbridge go up (and down). The food was very good and service was great.

Very good Italian food

Not a very fancy place, but the food was very good. I had the eggplant parmesean and my husband had the special. We were very satisfied. We ate outside and had a nice view of the canal. We did not like the smokers below us.

Frado's Restaurant

Frado's has been in the area for a number of years & has had two or more locations in the St.Catharines.The setting is quite ordinary but the restaurant provides a good meal at reasonable prices.

I had my reservations about Frado's when I pulled into the parking lot. It certainly doesn't exude the most welcoming atmosphere, but the food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. If your idea of Spicy Sausage Penne is tomato puree over penne pasta with two frozen "italian" sausages that you will send back because they're still frozen, then this is the place for you. Not to mention the fact that returning said plate will only cause the kitchen people to microwave it, add a little bit of sauce and return it to you.
