As a traveler passing through I figured I'd give the spot a try . .. it's seemed to be a cool funky, laid back kinda place but its more disgusting, dirty & gross.
The coffee was good, it was counter service only and I'd already left a tip. The server, counter person. . .didn't even bother to bring the plate...

The female owner is EXTREMELY rude to patrons, which is why the place is always deserted. The place is also very dirty. Expect to be insulted and demeaned at this coffee shop. My girlfriend and I were the only people in the restaurant, enjoying a coffee, when the owner confronted us with rude and offensive language because we brought a... more
There is a few coffee shop on Main St. ...I don't support Starbuck...and across the street is Fibonacci...well just walk a few blocks up to Belleview or St-Germain....they have better service, and it's wayyyyy much cleaner.
This used to be a great place but it is not the same anymore. It feels a little awkward to be in there.
The coffee is good. The food is OK, but the service is usually pretty indifferent and slow. The beer on tap is nice, especially for the open mic nights. It's never my first choice to go, it's too grungy.
This place has always been a favorite of mine. Nonetheless that does not leave me with a biased opinion, I have had the beef do air every time since I first went and it has always been delicious as the first time. The beef is cooked to perfection and the pasta salad is made exquisitely. If you come to Penticton... more
Well the website gives you quite a different impression than the actual place. That's all right, if only a sort of surprise. The reviews for the place was mixed here on tripadvisor so I was cautious. But everything turned out to be better than expected food wise. Didn't know what to expect, happy with the choices made. It is dimly... more
I like their lamb gyros and the wicked chicken thai soup. They apparently roast their own coffee....but everytime I've been there it's always been lukewarm. It's a young person's 'hangout'....which I sort of like (even though I'm not all that young myself). You hear lots of interesting conversations, though. And they have regular open stages and karaoke's.
We happened upon this cafe on what could be one of the busiest Saturdays of the year, the day before Penticton Ironman.
Outside seating area was bustling and inviting, indoors was a bit dimly lit compared to outdoors. Seating areas have a variety of configurations and furniture so something for everyone.
The menu offers smoothies, paninis, wraps, sandwiches and many...

This is a funky cafe with outstanding coffe and a very pleasant atmosphere. The staff are a bit off-beat but that adds to the charm. The patio out front is an excellent place to watch the world go by as you enjoy your morning coffee. I'm gluten free and they accommodated me with a gluten-free crepe wrapped around scrambled eggs... more
Unfriendly and slow service.
I took a breakfast crepe and it wasn't good at all.
Expensive for the quality of the food they try to sell you...
Just try a other place.
Firstly, the service was spotty, with staff who were not particularly friendly or pleasant. Even worse, the coffee cups had brown grime on the inside, which indicated that they may not have been properly washed - ugh! The food itself was quite basic.
sloooooooooooooooow service, disengaging owner. Surprised he is still in business. Disappointing.
I have been to Fibonacci's for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and have never been disappointed! Their Donairs are excellent, and the pasta salad is addictive! When you walk in the door, the beautiful aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans get you salivating. I would say they have the best espresso in town. If you're into teas they have a wonderful assortment... more
I think this place has a great idea but they are missing the mark. They need more efficient servers. Ive waited up to a half hour for a cappuccino and a sandwich. I've noticed some changes and I hope they continue to improve. I think its great that they do karaoke to allow minors to have something to do at... more
Although the food is good, it seems to take an incredibly long time to receive your food. Not only that, the owner is absolutely the most unprofessional man ever. I have heard from other women as well that he has made uncalled for comments. He is rude and sexist. I would only go in with my boyfriend for a while... more
Though the owner may come across as "in your face" and "lawless" when it comes to a pretty face, fibonaccis has very much taken an active part in increasing and promoting social interactions for the locals, and has become an active part of the community, a local meeting place of sorts. The food is still the same, a little lackluster... more
It seems to take FOREVER for a simple order. The food is medicore. The patrons are ... well ... nice enough, I guess.
I have only been at night. The crowd is very young (17-20) seems to be the typical age. They serve booze and allow under age kids in there till 10 or 11??? then it gets rather dead when they leave and you realize you probably shouldn't have been hitting on those girls... but they had some decent beers and didn't... more
I was in Penticton for my Brothers weading and I stopped in to Fibonacci for a cup of coffee. I don't know what all the negative comments are about because I had an amazing experience there. The place was spotless and the staff were so amazing! I was in town for a whole week and I was at Fibonacci everyday... more
The owner is a great guy always uses jokes to try and put a smile on the customers face. Food is great, price is good, and you get a good amount of food on your plate. It's a very good to go have a business meeting, or sit down with your friends and family to go have a nice meal... more
I love this place. We all loved this place I should say, We wanted to find out what all the bad reviews were about and now we know that all the bad reviews are from local people who have personal isues with FIBONACCI cafe. The truth is the place is amazing the staff is amazing the food is amazing and... more
I went here with a friend, we went in to go grab a coffee and what we left with was an awful expierance and absolute disgust. Please do yourselves a favor and go up the street to bellvue or even down to dream cafe or heck go to starbucks or timmies for coffee! The owner was awful and extremely rude.... more
Stopped for quick bite and coffee at lunch on two separate occasions in the year. Good coffee and tasty bistro type offerings . Prices typical for that kind of fare in town. Atmosphere is fine. Young staff not too concerned about timeliness of service. But it is the lack of cleanliness that is the big turn off. This place would... more
So we read the reviews before going and thought okay maybe people are just being picky or something....OH NO!!! We should have listened! The bathrooms were nasty and wreak of chemical or paint? The food wasn't bad, had some widdled spinach leaves, and not fairly priced for what you get. The WORST part though was while we were in there... more
went to grab a sandwich during the day on my lunchbreak, I had never been to fibonacci before. Walked in and asked for a recommenation or if they had a special, employee said "I dont eat here that , how helpful. ordered a chicken sandwich and watched the same employee handle my cash, then touch the raw/par cooked chicken with... more
I went there with some friends, and I liked the friendly staff, and how chill and relaxed the place is. I got the bacon beef cheddar donair, it was soo tasty! The coffee is really fresh, and they always have events and fun stuff to attend like karaoke and fundraisers and local bands and artists. I hear they are locally... more
It's unnerving to go into a restaurant that is not that clean. This place isn't that bad... but still it was noticeable that it is not as clean as it should be. The owners should really look into this. The bulk of their patrons seem to be students or young people and they may overlook it but it's not fair... more
On my 2nd trip to Penticton for the Ironman I tried Fibonacci and WOW! This is the cafe I can't wait to visit again when I return for 2011 Ironman. The aroma and the superb quality of the beans was amazing. In fact, I can't even go back to drinking mediocre Starbucks or other beans. Also, their pastry selection was... more
I went for coffee with friends at Fibonacci, the windows were filty,so was the counter and what is behind it,the place made me feel uncomfortable,I did not like to be served by some unfriendly, non smiling guy wearing a wool hat,he brought me the milk bottle from the fridge when I asked, none was out on the dirty counter, and there was no... more
Our coffee group checked it out again hoping for a higher standard and we were disappointed unfortunately. Nice atmosphere though with appealing tables and chairs but couches were uncomfortable. Disappointed with the dirty windows, not clean serving carafes at counter which left us wondering what the kitchen was like. Our lattes tasted milky with little coffee flavour. Good location downtown.
I am from Ontario just visiting, and my sister decided to take me here for lunch.
Very good service along with exelent food and a great atmosphere.
Not to many hippies, but lots of good and friendly locals.
Oh yeah, and great coffee!
Food is great-but the flis, clean-your-own-table, dreadlocked hippy atmosphere is not worth the visit for the cuisine. Take out is the only option.
I don't eat here all that often. When I do, it's often to have one of their donairs (which are quite good).
The food in my experience is fairly good, the waiting times can sometimes be quite sizeable (and occasionally flat out ridiculous).
The coffee was good and the tea was better than most. Most items were organic and fair trade. It was really neat seeing the beans being roasted on site. We were there in the morning and the atmosphere was quiet and calm. It looked like they had a live band the night before and a area that could be curtained... more
