No hot water and no water jet in the hot tubs. Also no towels in the hot tub room.
The free wifi was not available at all during our stay, linens came complete with other people's hair, housekeeping came in and took dirty towels out and did not give any fresh ones. Two separate calls to get towels were pleasant in tone but did not result in any action. Very disappointing, would not visit again.
it was a pit stop on our trip to the interior of bc. a bit confusing as to checking in at a different lodge; the clerk was not very informative................ i had to hunt for an ice machine, which i eventually found in another lodge.
It was a little difficult to navigate in the dark but the room was quiet and clean. The view was amazing a nice mountain view.
Room was clean, with new beds and furniture, but no air-conditioning. Not really a full-service hotel. (Staff is only available at the lodge on certain days.) Beautiful location.
Had trouble finding someone to check in. Lodge was locked. No a/c and no screen on window. Noisy thin walls and pub across the way with extremely loud music. Quilt had a yellow stain on top. Water damage on walls. Had trouble with WiFi and could not get in touch with anyone.
The room was clean, which we were thankful for. The lighting in the whole area was poor making it hard to find the hotel. Outside door was locked when we arrived- very disappointing! After getting our keys from another hotel, we found they had a totally different hotel name on them, so we were confused as to where we were actually staying. Finally got into our room, the temperature was almost... more
If you are going to provide a room to guests during the summer season, you should at least provide them with a means to cool off. There was no cool mountain air available on those 30° evenings. we could not open the windows to our room as there were no screens on the windows. Therefore all insects that wanted to come in did.
We come to Fernie Slopeside Lodge two or three times a summer. We were amazed to see the rooms which were refurbished. This had to be one of the best values for the amount we paid and the services we got. The entire hotel got a facelift and the rooms are spotless. The Front Desk lady was telling me that... more
Pretty good stay, for a basic hotel close to the lifts at a reasonable price this is a safe bet. With the low prices there were a number of younger people, 4+ to a room, drinking and enjoying themselves. You can't expect much else at this level of hotel though. I don't know if there is A/C in the rooms, it was pretty hot even with the window open, can't imagine it in the summer. A good bet... more
Visited Slopeside Lodge in early March. Spent two nights there. The Lodge is very convenient to the ski area. It's very down to earth, and the staff were quite accommodating. The only real downside was that the parking area was very difficult to access due to heavy snow.
Hotel was in a great location staff were reasonably friendly. The beds were unusually small.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Slopeside Lodge. We came for the 3rd night free special offer and were at the lodge for our whole stay in Fernie. Check-in was easy and hassle free. The lockers for boards and gear are super handy (your room key opens your locker). Housecleaning was quick and efficient; we would leave... more
Our room was under the stairs and extremely loud. You could hear every step and every move. Even a shower or toilet upstairs would be enough to jar us awake. Mattresses were way past the expiration date and extremely uncomfortable. Bedding was also worn out and uncomfortable. No hot water in the morning. Apparently this is when they fill the hot tub. Front desk staff seemed annoyed when we... more
Overall this was a good place to stay .. The hot tubs are nice but full of kids .. I recommend coming in from the hill at 3 pm if you like a quieter time or after 8pm when kids are in bed lol the hours for hot tub were better than most hotels open till midnight .. This hotel also advertises ski in ski out , this is not true it's a ski in walk out hotel ... You need to walk uphill to the lifts... more
The convenience of a ski-in/ski-out hotel was great and I would highly recommend it for that reason. For the amount we paid, quality and condition of the hotel wasn't exactly reflected as it was older and sheets/towels weren't changed. The staff were great about providing what we needed though. Also, there's only a couple restaurant choices beside the lodge so you might find yourself driving... more
Great location right next to the chairlifts and great staff.
We arrived in Fernie and discovered we were a 10 minute drive to the hill so decided to check the handful of accommodations at the bottom of the hill. We were lucky enough to find a few reasonable priced rooms with a great view at the Slopeside. The room had basic furnishings with rooms recently painted and some new furnishings.... more
I was definitely afraid of what I was going to be staying in after reading allot of the previous reviews. It turned out otherwise the room was very clean staff was on site from 8am til 8pm and for $75 dollars a night for a hotel at the base of the mountain ski in ski out, it was awesome and I would stay there again.
Rooms were pretty noisy due to thin walls, ceiling. Otherwise, a great place to stay.
Very reasonable rates considering it is right on the ski hill
The hotel location and staff were great. Unfortunately we were hoping to sleep. Booking thru Expedia they take your money up front, so I don't even know if I will get a refund that the hotel would have been willing to give.
It is really ski-in. At the price point, we think it is a good deal for a slopeside hotel, and parking is included right outside the door. We were a little confused with the name, appearantly they used to be called wolfs den, but have recently changed the name to fernie slopeside lodge. We would definitely stay there again. Please note that the number of restaurants at the resort is somewhat... more
No ice. Run down and noisy. Could hear the hill grooming machine running all night.
Great room for the price, right at the ski hill. Comfortable and clean, enjoyed the hot tub. A couple of lounge areas, one with a kettle and coffee, and microwave, for all guests to use which came in handy.
Having read other reviews I felt I had to add my own.
Late arrivals will need check in at the nearby Lizard Creek hotel as the reception closes at 8pm for the slope side.
The rooms were warm, clean and a good size, we had a family room for 2 of us. A nice size clean bathroom shower over bath...

I wasn't expecting the ritz, and when it comes to hotels, you get what you pay for. It's very basic rooms and very little 'comforts', but to be fair, for under $100 for ski in & out, i was satisfied.
I've stayed here before and will come back in the future.
Great location which fills basic needs for a father and sons ski trip. Don't expect fancy frills as this is a skiers hotel, a step up from your basic hostel.
Our stay was great. We were late arriving and had to check in at another location and come back to our hotel. That was a bit of a pain. I wish that they had attendants at the front desk all the time like most hotels.
Also known as Wolf's Den Lodge, so read the reviews there as well. The lodge is basic, but provides all the necessities for a ski-holiday. It does not have any restaurants or pubs, but there are more than enough to choose from within 500m from there. You get a comfortable room with bath tub / shower, TV, coffee machine, as... more
....not cheap enough, staff friendly but room horribly 2 star, beds old and lumpy, furntiture old and poor quality, bedding all very nylon, walls and floors paper thin, was woken up both nights a number of times, wifi not working, heating not really connected to the thermostat - pretty ropey all in all, left very tired.
Avoid

Easy access to the hill and has everything you need.
Amazing time, mountain was deserted because of the cold weather. Excellent vantage point to get to the mountain and there is tons of stuff to do within the resort!
Rooms were clean and very basic. Beds were hard but can't beat the price and location!
for the price it's just OK (but you are staying on the hill) no A/C, no front desk staff after 3pm and no internet in you room.
It's one of the most famous ski resorts in Fernie area, But this lodge doesn't have AC; the whole building was too hot, the towels are too old and not front desk service. The only positive review is the room was clean, but the common areas are dusty and look messy.
A- hard to find, 3 different lodge names referenced & the name on the 'actual' lodge #if you can call it that# was a totally different name - which is not Wolf's Den.... but here's a name...'dumpster den' B- no staff on site C- filthy does not explain or describe it
This should not be listed as a hotel, it is really a hostel. There is no one at the desk to greet you and incomplete sign in as to what you are supposed to do. The room was spartan (at best), there was a party at a bar across from the room that got louder as the evening progressed into early morning. I called for room assistance three times and never heard back. I asked for a fan as there was... more
After reading other reviews, I wasn't expecting too much. On arrival, the staff were very friendly and the lobby didn't look too bad, a little bit dated but I can live with that. Got to our room, not a bad size for 2 people, I guess it would be a little cramped if 4 people were sharing. The room, like... more
Great location for skiing but staying in Spring meant the village itself was very quiet - and what was opened closed early.
The hotel itself is badly in need of some investment. One in 3 lights in the bathroom were working (we told the staff but nothing happened), the blanket on the bed was so thin it had holes in...

The lobby and common areas are decent. The rooms are old and small. The beds were the worst. Paper thin scratchy old sheets on an old lumpy tiny double mattress with a gross comforter from 1979. You could hear everything from outside, the hallways and the other rooms because the walls are paper thin. There was rarely staff at the... more
My family and I stayed at The Wolf's Den at the end of July and I would not stay there again, even if the room was free. The place looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time, there were bags of laundry in the hallways, the hairdryer and tv didn't work, and checking in was a pain... more
Me and my husband went for the weekend. When we arrived, there was nobody to give us the room´s keys so we had to wait about 20 minutes to get in. The smell was horrible, the halls where covered with dirt. The carpet and the blankets where gross. The "hot" tub where cold!!! Not recommendable at all.
This was our third time staying at the Wolfs Den. The location is it's obvious prime feature, but there are other hidden parts that make it better than just a slopeside bed for the night.
They have a BBQ on the patio that's available whenever you need it, so I've made a habit of bringing beef ribs with me to...

It is definitely not a luxury hotel, but if you are looking for reasonably priced accommodation that is clean and quiet, the Wolf's Den fits the bill. We stayed for a night while we were mountain biking in Fernie. The front desk manager was welcoming and friendly, the room was clean and quiet, and we were located steps from the bike rental shop and chairlift. You may want to bring along a small... more
I cannot believe I've found this hotel so close to the slopes. For Mountain Biking/Skiing is the best that you can get for the price. Clean rooms. Not WiFi though, what a drawback, since any motel 8, Travelodge, etc has WiFi for free. But all and all I would recommend it.
We stayed at The Wolfs Den Lodge in July where you can rightly assume it was not for skiing but biking.
First off, when we checked in there was no one at the front desk and were advised to go around to the convenience store to check in there. Once we found this store the check in was fine but...

We stayed at the Wolfs Den Lodge in March for a ski trip - very well located for the ski lifts, and could ski right back to the door. Also turned out handy that the first-aid post was next door. Good for the bus-stop into town too.

Spent 11 nights at the Wolf's Den Lodge in January / February 2010; this is the second season staying here and our third season in Fernie.

Was excited to spend the end of the Christmas holidays going to Fernie. The Wolf's Den Lodge is a ski-in, ski-out location at the bottom of the hill at Fernie, BC. It is the most economical facility on the hill. There is less expensive in the town of Fernie but to be on the hill is great. The rooms are simple and clean. They seem to be rented primarily by people that are... more
