While walking through Byward Market, we stopped by Fat Tuesday's for their Buck-a-Shuck oysters. Although it was a quiet evening, the restaurant had a fun and funky vibe. We were seated promptly in a booth proximal to the entrance.
We ordered a few dozen PEI Malpeque oysters, which were fresh, sweet, and flavourful. While the service was a bit disappointing (especially since it was not busy),...

The food off the chain ... Poor boy sandwich was great. I was here on off night but staff was very friendly
Beers were okay (they have local beers from a microbrewery). The price was okay too. We came to see the palm reader and left the place before they started charging cover to see a pianist perform. At that point, the music wasn't too exciting so we decided not to stick. I have to admit that the most exciting part was the palm reader... We were all puzzled on how well she described our... more
This was just a quick stop while waiting for a hockey game - but the patio offered a great view of the Market, and we were excited to eat outside.
The service was quick and really friendly.
But most of all - the Blackened Chicken Nachos were incredible. I'm going to be making them at home as often as I can, and I just can't give any higher praise than that.
We had so much fun. Great live music and the food was top notch. Over all the atmosphere was fun, lively and friendly. Highly recommend
Great vibe. Wasn't too busy but staff was very approachable and friendly. Second time here and will definitely come back when I'm in Ottawa. I'll bounce between here at Heart & Crown!
Place was dead on a Saturday afternoon. Bartender was friendly. Food was fresh and hot. Beer was cold. Felt the menu items were overpriced. Not a wide selection of food options. A few traditional Cajun items on the menu.
A much better experience than last time! Service was friendly and there were not 4 bachelor/bachelorette parties this time, so that was a huge plus!
The restaurant was quiet for a Friday evening, but it picked up as the evening went on. Our group probably tried most of the menu, which was good. The pulled pork on the pulled pork nachoes was good, although a bit dry. The calamari, butterfly...

Duelling pianos and a tiny dancefloor make for a fun dinner!
Food is delicious and the service is great.
Thoroughly recommend a Friday night out.
Went with a corporate party (about 25 people). The food was good, but the service was exceptional and the music on Saturdays is a ton of fun. I do wish that they'd move some tables out of the way around the pianos, but overall it's a fantastic place. We were a very demanding party and had one server who was exceptional. I was very impressed with the service.
Went there for lunch and Eliza was our waitress, she was very friendly and all smiles. It was nice that the menu had options for sharing to help cut down the cost too. Overall a great experience!
I was here last year and had an order of blackened chicken mac and cheese and a tasty drink. I remember it being really good. So when my friend asked if I'd ever been I enthusiastically said "yes! and lets go again, it was really good last time!" I had immediately planned to order the blackened chicken mac and cheese without the chicken.
I was disappointed to see they no longer had the mac and...

O.M.G. Jambalaya.. I asked for it to be as spicy as possible (as I do) and they really did it up right.. The Cajun flavours I just tasted here haven't been in my mouth since cajun strips at The Sirloiner in Richmond, BC when I was 15 and worked there and had to convince the cooks to hurt me to get to the level of spice I require..
Friendly, knowledgeable staff..
Down-side: (Off-menu though)...

Went last night. The piano bar was tons of fun until 12am. There was a 6 dollar cover, but I guess that's because there were dueling piano prayers. They were awesome! We also had the hurricanes which were delicious, but the food highlight was the blackened chicken mac and cheese. We greatly enjoyed it. 3 drinks and an entree for 50 bucks while being serenaded by dueling piano players and the... more
I headed over to Fat Tuesday's for their Buck-a-Shuck Thursdays, with $1 oysters. The weekly event starts at 5pm, so it's perfect to stop by after work.
As an oyster lover myself, the fact that they're only a dollar sold me right away. A friend came with me who had never had oysters before, so this was perfect - rather than pay the regular boat load for a plate of oysters, anyone can have just...

My husband & I ventured to Fat Tuesday's for the first time recently, and had a great experience!
We went for dinner on a Sunday night, so it wasn't terribly busy, but the service was amazing! Our waiter was fantastic -- the perfect mix of laid back, chatty, and polite.
Our food came out less than 10 minutes after we ordered, and we both loved our meals. What more could you ask for?
We can't...

I've been to Fat Tuesdays a few times, mostly for lunch and the see the piano players. Last night we stopped by around midnight after about an hour at Velvet Room. We mostly came to hear the dueling pianos, but we had a great time even while they were on break. The atmosphere at this time of night was pretty insane - tons of people packed into a relatively tight space, dancing male bartenders... more
My experience at Fat Tuesday's might be a little influenced by the fact that I'd driven for a solid eight hours that same Friday evening, but overall I can't complain. Still not sure how I feel about the $10 cover charge, but once I was in the door it was easy to lose myself in the three-piece live band and solid drinks from the bartenders. Finding seating in the back might be an issue if you... more
New Orleans experience it's not, but a fun night can be had here.
Skip the food, it really sucks and is far from a NO experience. I've only tried 2 items here and one was unmemorable and the other I remembered...as being extremely terrible and a slop of a mess.
The drinks are solid and the live band can be fun. When the summer is around the patio can be rocking however the staff aren't always...

It was a pretty busy night, considering it is Valentine's Day, but me and my girlfriend were able to get a seat right away in spite of having no reservations, which is awesome. In spite of being relatively short staffed, we got good service and timely service, although there were a few mistakes made that caused us to wait longer to be served.
We got the pulled pork nachos appetizer, the four...

At night time on weekends, they now have a live band playing (not so much dueling piano anymore....still have two panio). The bands are ususally good, the food is okay.
They have a cover charge after 11:00 pm.
The crew at the bar can be annoying at times. It might be the last time i go there.
The plan was to come here for dinner, but in retrospect, dinner may have been the least exciting part of coming here!
Why? The drinks and the music! (well, and the food was good, but the small portions were relatively forgettable compared to the rest of this place!).
Gotta love eating ribs out on the patio, drinking a hurricane, (pronounced *hurriken*), and listing to the dueling pianos...

I've been to Fat Tuesday's for a low key dinner and I've been to Fat Tuesday for a night that was very much not low key!
I enjoyed both experiences but the first, the dinner, was decent but nothing spectacular. I ran into a friend who was dining on the patio and I sort of regret that our party didn't get to eat on the nice looking patio. The service was prompt and given that we were a large...

My friend and I went to Fat Tuesdays on a Friday evening around 6 pm (ish). There was no cover charge and we were able to get a table outside. The food was awesome (I'm a big fan of that meal) and so was the service. No complaints here I will definitely be going back.
I'd never had alligator anythiing before so we tried the alligator bites. They're kinda chewy. I'd say people who think they...

I don't even remember the cost to get into this place. There was a cover charge though that's all I remember. Specifically because there is still a very faint blue star on the back of my hand from the night we went. I didn't order any drinks mostly because of the fact that I was absolutely hammered by the time we got to this place.
The experience I had was not as good as my friend hyped this...

The incredibly high prices at Fat Tuesdays make it difficult to ever validate coming here. Paying $10 for one of their delicious cocktails is pretty expensive, even for the ByWard Market. Fortunately, their food isn't too expensive ($10-$20 per dish) and the selection is exciting since most of it is inspired by Cajun and Creole cuisine.
However, I'm more so attracted to Fat Tuesdays because of...

There may be a lot of bars in the Byward market, but not a lot of them are unique. Anyone can open a bar and serve a drink, but it takes more than that to make a place that lasts.
Fat Tuesday's has a New Orleans feel to it. Walk in and you might find someone jamming on the piano, or someone else putting beads around your neck. It's a great atmosphere.
There are tables to sit at, but standing...

Fat Tuesday's New Orleans Experience offers these services: restaurant.
Embracing Ottawa's love for all things eclectic, Fat Tuesdays really is a bar with a difference. Not only can you see dueling pianos on a Friday and Saturday night, there is a visiting psychic for guests to get readings from, and Scarlett's Dinner Theater murder mysteries. Fat Tuesdays serves up great food, some of which you might do a double-take at - the shrimp'n'gator kebabs are an... more
