Fresh, healthy multicultural cuisine. Brunch all day on weekends. Homemade soups and baked goods. Great atmosphere.
One of those unsuspecting little spots that is cool without even trying to be. Don't tell that to the chic-geek crowd that flocks here for hearty homemade soups like curried spinach with chickpeas. Quirky daily sandwich and salad specials are made with creative ingredients like arugula, brie, mint and fennel. Where's the beef? Flank steak with black beans or terriyaki chicken and rice will hit... more
Inconsistent - sometimes dishes are not cooked properly. Staff very friendly & many things are tasty.
Met a friend for brunch on a boiling Saturday of July 2011 and she wanted to try EM Cafe (our first visit, for both of us). First let me tell you that the place is beautiful in a art cafe kind of way, with a huge couch at the back, beautifully decorated bathrooms with changing stations for guests with kids,... more
have you ever actually been to em cafe.water is the first thing brought to your tablealong with a warm smile from genuine staff.all eggs are dead on arrival. so your comment makes little sense. and coffee is what they doso its hard to imagine there was none at your table.if you had a problem with your order that made youupset they would have resolved the issue. a friendlychill no fuss... more
EM Cafe opened two years ago and was a hit from the start, mainly because the decor is breezy and effortless. It's got tall ceilings, white walls showcasing local artists, and a big table in the middle for communal eating or large groups. The food itself is pretty basic, although recently there's been a dip in quality of some of the food (potatoes are getting complaints). Sandwiches, omelettes,... more
We were surprised at 1pm to be told that the did not serve lunch before 2pm, so we had to eat a second breakfast (we had reserved specifically for lunch but weren't advised of this). The waiters seemed to have tunnel vision and service was pretty slow, but to their defense today was mother's day, so the service may be better at other times. Overall, food was very good and the price is right; we... more
The food is good and of course if you go on a saturday or sunday the wait is a little longer but not too much! free internet and relax.
food is good, internet fast and the owners arte very nice :)
Sad. The service was really bad, ignored us the whole time except for the order and to bring the food (no coffee/water) and this was not during a heavy breakfast rush. When I told our server that the eggs were hard cooked for the benedict, not even an apology. The potatoes were cold and the hollandaise was already congealed by the time we saw it. Worst breakfast in Montreal ever. You know that... more
Great spot for brunch or lunch with varied menu and service that goes above and beyond
EM Cafe is the best of the new wave of coffee/breakfast shops to add some class to Mile End’s Park Avenue in the last year. The service is down-home country-style good, the breakfast is tasty and priced right, and the ambience is light and breezy. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but the hundreds of faithful patrons probably agree that there is a sort of x-factor to this place that makes it a... more
Situated on Parc Street just south of Bernard, Em Cafe is a place you would likely miss. Yet, when you step in you will see how it is more than an unassuming place and that it manages to serve up a... more
