I really enjoyed the Elephant and Castle in Ottawa. After a day of shopping i needed to get my feet up. As a solo travellor that trip I found the area to be relaxing and great comfort foods. A good sized meal with a pint while ready my book and watching shoppers go by, all good. (I could have sat... more
I really enjoyed the Halibut, Very good portion for the money, Really liked the fact that the restaurant had a window view of the city. I am defiantly going to have to go and see the other locations and would always recommend their establishment to any of my friends and family.
I've tried 4 different locations, and as with chains of any kind, there are some kinks. so it depends on your taste buds if you'll like it or not. It is based on what North Americans pass as English food.
being british it is a bit like back in england, good atmosphere, food is excellent. beer ain't bad either.
I visited this restaurant for the first time on a Wednesday evening after the Labour Day weekend. Noticing a free table on the “terrace” just outside the restaurant and asked for that table; terrace is in quotes as this restaurant is inside a mall and the terrace is not a fresh air terrace. I was given the requested table and... more
nothing special about this place. all of our dishes were predictable, average, pub type food. service was not so great.
Just a great night out. Another restaurant was busy but we where so pleased with the E & C in Edmonton. Everything was so easy, food was quick and so tasty! Will definitely go back.
I feel bad to be the party pooper and give a 2 star for this bar. But it is exactly as the Yelp sentiment puts it - "Meh. I've experienced better." The far better experience, in this case, is the Elephant & Castle on Whyte! The staff don't know much about what's going on. I was getting a little annoyed with how one of the waiters went on and on, talking about how Pilsner Urquell was only... more
Going to the movies at City Centre always includes a visit to the Elephant and Castle. I am usually always very happy with my food, but I tend to be the person that picks the same thing every time at a restaurant. First of all, the decor alone would entice me to eat there. I love the British pub look, and I love how the ceilings are low (inside) and the wooden looking walls. There's this really... more
I think this place is super cute and I really like it.It's a great little British-style pub in City Centre. I think it's a really good place to go for a beer with a group of friends. The atmosphere is great because it's traditionally British. It's got a comfortable feel to it.The staff are really nice here too - at least the ones who have served me were. They are always really friendly and... more
We stopped in here before heading to a movie at City Center. I wonder if the movie theatre wasn't there if Elephant and Castle would get the business it gets.My boyfriend and I came in and my mom and dad were already sitting down eating. They had both ordered a spicy vegetarian curry dish. This sort of set the tone for what kind of place this was- British pub food.I just ordered water because I... more
Another great place to come together with great friends and great food is the Elephant and Castle located in the Edmonton City Center Mall (downtown) on the 3rd level. The place is like a pub atmosphere and right before you get it there is a sigh saying "No Minors" so this place is just for the adults. It's kind of dark but I think it adds to the place. There is an indoor patio if you want... more
Elephant & Castle has the feeling of a British pub. If I watched soccer I feel like this would be a place people should be watching the game and drinking some pints. They have a patio, which is outside the restaurant but still in the mall and it is only a few steps from the movie theater. I guess it would be perfect for dinner and a movie's. They got it right with their sharing plates idea... more
I used to come here often with a friend who worked at a business in City Centre, so it was a convenient location for us. Usually we would just grab a beer (or two) and some of the warm, large, soft pretzels. They are served with mustard, have just the right amount of rock salt on them, and go well with the beer. The menu is very much like one would expect from a British style pub, like... more
This is the perfect spot to meet if you're waiting for friends to go to the movies with. I like the pub atmosphere - it just makes you want to order a pint - which I did. I introduced a friend to Stella which was on tap. Apparently they had some sort of promotion going on where there were scratch tickets. If you scratch the correct answer to the question you can enter to win a Stella jacket or... more
Elephant & Castle in City Centre is the perfect place to go before or after seeing a movie at Empire Theatre only a few feet away. It's kind of funny, because you can "sit outside" at this restaurant, as if you're on a patio, but really you're still in the mall. I don't come here to eat healthy. I come here to just enjoy my company and have some nice fattening food. This place is cool, because... more
