I found this restaurant again purely by fluke. Visiting Calgary for the 5th time I thought I was in an area I didn't know. I was looking for a completely different bar & then saw Eds. I 1st went to this restaurant 24 years ago & had chicken wings for the 1st time ever & they have never been as... more
What a wonderful restaurant for a special day; my mother and I were on 17th picking up my wedding dress, and we stopped at Ed's for lunch. I have severe gluten, dairy, and seafood allergies, so I am usually very weary about where I eat. However, Ed's was fabulous - our server was very attentive and caring about my allergies... more
We've been coming to Ed's for 23 years prior to events at the Saddledome and were so disappointed on April17. The service has always been slow but we were willing to tolerate that for good food. However, this time our server was unfriendly and both of us got sick from the hamburgers!! We will NOT dine at Ed's again, ever!... more
Very slow service and the food was even worse. Took 25 minutes to place a food order for 3 and another 30 minutes to get the food. The famous wings were average at best. To make things worse, they were cold on the inside. Burger was below average.
The good thing is I plan to never go back.

Ed's was just okay. The wings which is what Ed's is famous for were disappointing because the salt and pepper wings that we ordered tasted heavily of lemon pepper. The service was slow for a weekend even though the restaurant wasn't busy, and they forgot to order an entree for one of our party so they didn't get their food... more
I went to Ed's during the "Dine out Calgary" promotion. The meal was bland all the way through. The arctic char tasted like nothing, the vegetables were overcooked and the only redeeming quality of the meal (honestly) was the Dixie cup soy sauce for flavor. The ceasar salad had no lemon or bacon and was over-dressed with flavorless dressing. Finally,... more
I remember coming here when I first moved to Calgary, I tried it again before a concert. Not much has changed. I love the little rooms, the food is good, home-style not fancy gourmet but the prices are reasonable.
Unfortunately, this place has totally gone downhill. They used to be known for the best wings in town... not sure what happened but definitely isn't the case anymore.
Not bad before a flames game... more
I was surprised at how good the food was here! The waitress didn't write anything down and we had a huge group!
Sorry to say has nothing to do with food, just the manager! Tried to organize a dinner the night of the last flames game, wasn't thinking I'd get in but thought I'd call anyway, expected a pleasant phone call back saying we're sorry we can't accomodate you that evening, but if you'd like to make a reservation for another night... more
Decent food though a bit overpriced. Ribs are great though.
Best chicken wings in town.
Great wings before the game!!
A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.
Food is pretty good...good for before going out downtown.
The menu features AAA Alberta beef, prime rib, chicken, seafood, pastas, pizza, salads, sandwiches and burgers. Best known for pioneering Buffalo chicken wings in Calgary. Ed's also offers a large range of gluten-free menu items. Entrees: $$
Built into a large 1911 house south of downtown, this popular spot has been serving up plates of Buffalo-style chicken wings for ages. Seating at Ed's Restaurant is a little cramped up in the five dining rooms, however it is enough to host your own event. Besides the wings, which are definitely the main draw, the menu includes pasta, beef and seafood dishes.
Built into a large 1911 house south of downtown and a block off the Stampede and Saddledome grounds, this popular spot has been serving up plates of Buffalo-style chicken wings (CAD8.95 for 15) for ages. Seating is a little tight in the five dining rooms, particularly if the Flames are in town. Besides the wings, which are definitely the main draw, the menu includes pasta (fettuccine alfredo,... more
Marked by a turret, this Victorian-styled building houses one of the city's favorite places for steaks, buffalo wings, and business lunches. Ed's has five small dining rooms in the circa-1911 home, and all sport lovely furnishings and enjoy great light. A variety of soups and salads is available, as are gourmet burgers and hot and cold sandwiches. You'll also find prime rib, filet mignon,... more
