This restaurant has recently been remodeled and the new seating area is very open and comfortable. The service was great and the food was amazing. Kids eat free was a bonus as we had our youngest grandson with us as well.
Went to this restaurant years ago and didn't have great service or food and I had another bad experience with the chain in another city but we decided to give it a try as they had obviously revamped the food and restaurant based on the things we had read. Well, we won't be back again. The food was not restaurant... more
My husband, I and our brother-in-law ate here Thursday July 10th/14 and the food was delish. Ordered from the new menu - chicken parmesan with pasta, caesar salad and fresh bread. As we were staying at the Comfort Hotel we received a complimentary h'orderve. We went with stuffed mushrooms with pesto toast and they were excellent. The chicken parm with... more
With kids, you always know there will be something for them to order, which is a plus with any chain restaurant. Nice selection of salad entrees and the kids enjoyed the pizza. My husband is a vegetarian and was happy with the selection there as well. Waitress was attentive and always refilled the salads and garlic bread (some East Sides... more
We went here for dinner. We like the fresh rolls provided with the bottomless salad. The meals were quire good but the waitress trying endlessly to upgrade everything we ordered was a definite nuisance. This is a real no no for my wife, and it has happened before. When asked if we wanted another glass of wine, the waitress removed... more
On Friday - May, 16th. I visited this restaurant with a friend. It was before the Friday crowd rolled in it was at 5:30 pm. when we arrived.
First let me say the washroom was filthy, absolutely filthy. Almost enough to make you leave.
The waitress came and said she was in training and so would be with another waitress....

Once seated, waitress arrived within 3 - 4 minutes and was quick with beverage. Took order and waited about 5 minutes for soup. After finishing soup waited another 20 - 25 minutes for main course. Waitress did not check to inform of any problems or delays (I was seated next to the kitchen). This I not the first time that... more
Good thing we made a reservation for Saturday night, it was busy. They have a binder for food allergy sufferers. Breadsticks not listed but server & chef checked in the kitchen and bread was fine for us. Server was very good. We asked for extra toppings on someone's salad and she brought them no problem. Everyone's food was good, lasagna... more
It is not a fine dining restaurant but if you want good food with great service this is the place to come, I have gone there for over 15 years and have never been disappointed, Great Italian food .
Great place. Had a issue with my food and my server i believe her name is rachel was very understand sweet and took my plate back and brought back a perfect one. Drinks were refilled without having to ask. Manager came by table to check if we were enjoying our meal. Love this place and that sever was super nice... more
We have been avoiding eating at the local East Mario's for quite a while now...due to a few bad experiences, There was a coupon in the mail recently and we decided to give it another try! I must say that it was an ok experience! We were seated by the front windows which can be really cold and drafty in... more
Third visit. Third time the food was mediocre or overcooked. Service is great on all occassions but the cooking has a long way to go.
Unfortunately, i wont be going back or recommending this to visitors.
Had a 'Traditional Hamburger' and it was everything I had hoped for- a 'real' hamburger. Slices (not chopped or chunks) of tomatoes and onion with a leaf of iceberg lettuce. Could also have had cheese & bacon, but I just wanted a real hamburger, the kind you make at home. Delicious! Attentive service and fair prices. The restaurant could use... more
THE GOOD - Staff were helpful and polite.... atmosphere was decent....food was good
THE NOT SO GOOD - Portions (especially the salad) are tiny...we had to order 3 times to get a normal sized salad...they asked us to move tables half way through our meal to make room for a large group...not classy...
I would recommend their spicy calamari (for...

The Orillia East Side Mario's has been a popular spot for locals and travellers since its opening. It has a fun, family atmosphere with good food and good service. There's plenty of reasons why it continues to be a favourite spot for dining out, whether for lunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed!
I must say, in doing this review, I did not sample much of the menu, I had the Bruschetta a mountain of seasoned garlicky tomatoes surrounded by crispy pieces of oil drizzled bread which I found delightful and tasty and as I was dining alone for me it was la large enough portion to consider it a meal. This was... more
Was just at East Sides in Orillia. Apon arrival we were greeted and sat, brought menus, came back asked what we would like to drink, brought drinks and then things started going bad.
When our salad was served, had to ask for utensils, salad was good, when our pasta came, it wasn't what we ordered, on second attempt one of...

Not so great food and sort of pushy service. It was okay. Theo's just down the street is much better in my opinion
We ate here once and were not overly impressed. The staff seemed complacent. The food was okay but nothing special. We would return if there was an update to the site.
Was here early in the evening, in time for half priced appetizers (nice deal) the stuffed mushroom caps were delicious. Had a few issues with seating. Been here 3 times in the passed few months and each time we are say in the bar area without choice. People come in after us and they're sat in the dining area, kind... more
I stopped in at 11 pm to get some food to go. Waited for 5 min before any staff came out from back. Ordered lasagna and minestrone soup. The lasagna was very dry. - needed some tomato sauce and the takeout bowl of soup was ONLY 1/2 full - but here is the best (or worst) part. There was only... more
Restaurant appeared very dark and dingy. Drinks were terrible. Food was way below par for an ESM. Table was dirty. Did not enjoy dining here at all.
Great manager. When we arrived we were told by hostess there was no room. 2 hockey teams were there also. The manager promptly found us a spot no problem. He was directing his staff like a pro. The food was hockey but the sandwich I had had way too much mayo. The Italian Wedding Soup was great as usual.
It's funny to me, that if we go there late afternoon the lights are up in the dining room and I don't have to search for my reading glasses. Around the dinner hour they dim the lights (we've been there when they do it) and suddenly reading the menu becomes impossible, I am ever so grateful that they have done... more
Good food but a bit pricey. Appetizers and deserts likewise. Bathrooms needed a bit of cleaning. If wants to keep busy needs to keep up with competition. Was better before.
Standard East Side Mario food. I had the unlimited lunch special including soup, salad and bread. My soup arrived first and shortly after my salad. I wasn't more than a few bites into the salad when they asked if I wanted another soup. I was asked twice more while eating my salad. I felt I couldn't enjoy the meal and... more
Food is good but the service just ruins the experience. Every time I go to this place the servers are unfriendly and not accommodating. The place is always empty because they don't value their customers. Staff needs an overhaul.
Food is delicious and the service is excellent. Owner is always going around talking to customers. Great community feeling.
Well unlimited bread and ceasar salad is all I can say here! Too bad I am trying to keep the carbs off! I do feel that they are a little pricey for what you get, you can do much better on the same street!
try the spicy calamari it was delicious. The veal parmagiana and speghetti was good too. It was comfortable , service was good.
little expensive if you ask me but the food was awesome.... show your room key and you get a free appetizer with the purchase of an entree.....i had the salmon and the calamari di avalo or something like that....really great!
Waitress was friendly. It was my friend's birthday, he got a free slice of cake, but he didn't get to spin the wheel for a chance to win a prize. =T Meal was okay!
We decided to eat at east sides as you know what you're going to get ( pasta is not that hard ) . Before we even walked through the front door I was struck by how dirty and unkept it was . The cutlery , plates , drinking glasses all need to be replaced , and does any one know... more
Even when empty the service here will leave you frustrated.
Excellent food, waitress, no waiting to get seated and food was quick in coming.
Another ESM location that is a let down. Used to be good but not anymore.
The food was horrible. I ordered fetticine alfredo and it came with almost no sauce on it.
great food! great service, right across from the hotel - very handy
My husband and I decided to eat supper here before heading down to Kitchener for the weekend. We arrived at 6:30pm and found the parking lot quite full so we were fully expecting to have to wait a bit for a table. We were warmly greeted quite promptly and were shown to a table right away. The restaurant is huge!... more
I have been to various east side Mario and this is just like all the rest, nothing special just very average.
The mains, which were chicken parmesans, were fine - tons of pasta and sauce, plus average chicken.
The salads were absolute c@!p. Here is what they did (we got take out). They got the salad container, added ONE cherry tomato, ONE cucumber slice and a TON of iceberg lettuce that was brown on the edges. Thats it. Thanks Mario. I...

I have ordered online for pick-up at this location and find the food to be consistently good with much better portion sizes than some of the competitors. Staff is friendly and attentive. Always a pleasure.
If someone is willing to sell you unlimited quantities of food (Salad & bread in this case), there's probably a reason: It's poor quality.
It's a big chain, with plenty of manufactured "flair" on the walls, the food is fast and cheap. If this what you like, you're going to like it. If you like pasta that doesn't taste like...

the restaurant needs to be upgraded...it is old and tired looking and depending on where you are seated...it is either too cold or too hot.
Pastas are overcooked
it has been about 20 years since I been to an east side marios. The beer selection was good and the food was very tasty.
