This cozy Dutch/Indonesian restaurant on Cambie Street in Vancouver was worth a visit, but ever since John Dijs sold this business the management of this restaurant has been slipping steadily. The food is consistently good to great, but the lack of comfortable seating in narrow aisles with poor lighting (lack of big windows), poor cleanliness (dirty carpets and tables), and mediocre service... more
After eating at De Dutch a few times, I figured I never needed to eat another pannekoek again. They're not all that special, eh? But when my daughter was visiting, she was itching to visit Dutch Wooden Show for some reason. She also likes IHop, so go figure. We never made it in, but after working three straight midnight shifts, I figured I'd reward myself with breakfast here.I tend to go for... more
This cozy Dutch/Indonesian restaurant on Cambie Street in Vancouver is worth a visit. There is lots to choose from on the menu. The food is consistently good to great. The only reason why I don't give it a 5 star but 4 star rating is for the lack of comfortable seating in narrow aisles with poor lighting (lack of big windows).
Always good food with an old Dutch cafe ambiance. Friendly staff, good prices. Eggs benny with spec is a favorite!
I came here for brunch and it was excellent! This place should be featured on diners, drive-ins and divesAll the meats were so fresh and the cheeses were fantastic!! Definitely worth trying
The first time I was there I had no clue what to order, the menu was HUGE! The place specializes in serving Dutch breakfast and if it weren't for our friend Ryan I would of ordered... more
Really good breakfast. I tried their #28 (salmon) Pannekoek and it was delicious. Great atmosphere and the price is comparable with other breakfast/brunch place. Good and friendly service. Overall experience: thumb's up
If not my favourite, then certainly in my top 3 brunch places. Over-the-top Dutch decor, which reminds me of visiting a quirky restaurant in a small town, and there will most likely be a lineup on the weekend. There is almost too much choice on the menu, so it will take a while to pick what you want. I have eaten something different every time, and have never been disappointed. Much better and... more
Following the trend from yesterday's post, I met with Anita after my long road trip to do some catch up. However, this time, instead of dinner, it was for brunch. Her request was... more
My friend and I love pannenkoek so we had high hopes. Unfortunately the service was slow and inept with a half full restaurant. Food was good but it wasn't good enough to make up for the service. Try Trixis up the street instead
Best place for Breakfast/Brunch in Vancouver Period!!!!!
I went to the Dutch Wooden Shoe Cafe on Canada Day. It was very busy. The food was good, but the service was lacking. The server plunked down the menus without even saying hello. We received our coffees to start, but I had to go to the front counter to get creme. It might have been an off day for everyone.

This Sunday I wanted to get some breakfast with my friends, and a quick search on the internet, I came across the Dutch Wooden Shoe Cafe. Pannekoek mmm Pannekoek, what makes their... more
The pancakes here are good, they were a little over cooked for my liking, but the toppings were fresh and wonderful. I had the farmers and my companion had a banana apple one. We also had 2 hot chocolates because it was so cold in the restaurant, they were of course overpriced. The service was a little slow for us and we were puzzled with the decor. Though some of it was interesting and... more
An institution for pancake breakfasts. Just make sure you come early or be prepared to wait for a table!
It was hard for me to decide whether to click like or not like. In the end I clicked not like. The food was good but the service was awful. They never came to ask for our orders until we asked them to and they didn't even ask if we wanted drinks. The food came fast after that but they never checked in if we needed anything else. Food was good but I won't go back. If service is important to... more
Dutch Wooden Shoe Cafe is a Dutch restaurant where most Menuism users came for fun with friends, paid between $10 and $25, and tipped less than 15%.
