OK
Baking like fifty years ago but with a modern price tag.Seniors meet here for coffee and chat.
what the hell happened to this place? was great restaurant when I was a kid, kinda sad now, c@!%!y coffee, ok sandwiches and baked stuff, lousy atmosphere
We visited twice; the cooked breakfasts are delicious and large, lots of choice of coffees, excellent value. Lots of choice of breads and pastries to take-away. It is well used by the locals and obviously some come every morning. There is a large table for about 14 which is used by retired gentlemen who sort out the worlds problems over... more
I recently moved to Cobourg. It became necessary to host a memorial. Had no experience with caterers in Cobourg. Took a chance with the Dutch Oven.
Best move I ever made. Ordered finger food for 80 people. Loren did a fantastic job on sandwiches, veg. trays, fruit, pickles & cheese and pastries. Had more than enough food, all of which...

We were in the area visiting the Cobourg Waterfront Festival and wanted to find a quiet place for lunch. I was in the mood for a made to order sandwich and didn't want to go to the local chain stores (i.e. Subway, Mr. Sub). Walking down King Street, we came across the Dutch Oven Bakery and Coffee Shop.
We went...

Looking for a quaint little restaurant for breakfast near the Marina, nothing fancy but the coffee is wonderful! Dutch over on King is the place....and divine baking goods!
From the street it doesn't look like much, but its a nice clean bakery and eatery. Fresh baking (cookies/bars/cake/bread) and homemake lunch. Pricier than a sandwich from Timmys, but made with love! Pot pies are so yummy!
Always a treat waiting in store when you drop in the Dutch Oven. Their sandwiches are tasty, pastries are delicious and always a table waiting no matter how busy they are. They gave a fantastic delivery service for the office or boardroom. I know!
Server behind counter needs to smile once and awhile
I go into this place to get bread, cakes etc at least once a week and find it is not at all a friendly environment.
Place needs a good cleaning and renov
Prices are fair. Food so, so.
Great place to take out some baked goods and enjoy a cup of coffee. The "chop suey" bread is a favorite- like a moist fruit cake. The muffins and other goods are baked daily
food was under cooked or over theres no flavor to anything and i really question there health standards had a company hire then for catering and not one meal turned out barley eatable
For the past 8 years, this has been my go-to bakery when I need just about anything. Traditional fare such as Eccles Cakes, Empire Cookies. Great place to have a spot of lunch: soup, salad, sandwich, pizza.
One of the original restaurants in Cobourg, and conveniently on the main street. Two blocks from the waterfront, and Victoria Park. Casual dining and a great place to meet friends for a coffee/fresh baked treat.
Really enjoy the hometown feel of this place - hasn't changed in 40 years! Meals are home cooked and good. Baking is what they are known for. Open for breakfast and lunch and they do take out and catering as well. Served by this delightful young Laura.
The Dutch Oven is known to EVERYONE in Cobourg. This is a cafeteria style eatery that is also known for it's catering. The baking here is always great. From quiche, homemade soups and sandwiches, and deli treats, to their unmatched dessert bar, this is a "go to" staple in Cobourg. No white table cloths, no high prices, no hype, just... more
Went in to the Dutch Oven, and was greeted by the nicest woman at the front. I asked for a few icebox cookies from the refrigerated display case, only to find out, the refrigeration unit(s) won't work....I asked for a plain bagel. They were out. After naming the other kinds available, I find out only onion bagels are available....the rest... more
locals drop by and like a cafeteria style pick up on a tra the required food. Taste is good but I think the cost is too jigh for the portions.
I absolutely love their Fern Tarts and treat myself to a half dozen once every month or two. I recently picked up their Butter Tarts and found them delicious as well, but not for someone who isn't fond of sweets. They are very sweet! We've had lunch inside a couple times and taken it to go a few times, always... more
Regular here, 3-5 times a month. Decent food and well priced.
It does get busy and the staff can get a little flustered.
Keep smiling girls.
Pastries are fresh and clearly made by someone who both cares and knows what they are doing.
I found the prices a little high but worth the money overall.
When I visited they were out of a few items each time, both a good indication of the high demand but also a negative as I would have liked to try...

They've got the absolutely best birthday cakes! And the atmosphere for breakfast and/or coffee is comfortable and casual. They have good coffee and you feel welcome to sit and read the paper while drinking it.
the cutlery was dirty. The people are nice in the resturant but it seems unclean.
The baked goods are consistantly delicious and breakfast and lunch is always good.
Have been going to the Dutch Oven since I was a kid. Things haven't changed much and that's the best part. Great sandwiches and soups and traditional breakfast. If you're a local you know it's the gathering place and it's the place to go for good homecooked...

Our group leaders went to buy our breakfast and landed at Dutch Oven Bakery. What a treasure of morning delights. Definitely buy your morning treats here!
Being from the south we had never tasted tea biscuits, yet that all changed when they were purchased from Dutch Oven Bakery based upon their recommendation. Yummy. The cinnamon rolls were excellent. Bakery is located right in town with street parking nearby.
The soups here are always terrific. They usually have two to choose from. I also like the sandwich plate - four little sandwiches, all different. Lots of pastries and desserts for those who aren't on a low-carb diet.
Service is cafeteria-style - carry your own tray. Therefore no tipping required!
Atmosphere and decor are cottage-cozy but spacious.
Top notch is this place! Fantastic baked goods and lunches. We always order birthday cakes here....they make the best!
While in highschool we used to go in to the Dutch Oven for their breakfast special at least once a week during our second period spare. Great baked goods, good prices, WONDERFUL staff. Try the jams made by a lady who works there they are excellent! THE only place to get awesome fresh baked goods in Cobourg
