Charmingly attached to its global backpacking and hippy sensibilities, The Dream Café’s eclecticism is its main draw. The solid breakfast and brunch offerings, from classic eggs benny ($10) to the Baja Fritatta ($10.95), are a hit with Ironman triathletes and famished families. Lunch and dinner span everything from paninis and wraps to tofu and tenderloin and butterflied prawns. In the evening,... more
We stopped here for lunch and sat outside. The food was pretty good and the service was okay. having popped inside to visit the bathroom we were disappointed we weren't visiting in the evening instead as the restaurant looks pretty cool and has a stage for live music
We were invited to go to the Dream Cafe to hear a guitarist perform with his small band. We arrived to find a most eclectic atmosphere and a warm welcome from Pierre. Our table was close to the stage and we were able to enjoy the music with no interruptions.
Our meals were the absolute best we had here in...

I arrived with a group and we were crammed into a corner of the restaurant. The table I sat at blocked ingress/egress for half of our party. I told my friends if they had to use the washroom, to cross their legs.
Very cool décor; hippie central here! Lots of vegetarian options on the menu. I chose falafel and veggies;...

We went with a group of friends, mainly because we had dietary restrictions to accommodate and the menu looked promising at first glance.
To start, we ordered the salad rolls as an appetizer to share, which were advertised as being 4 for roughly 9$. In actuality, they were two smallish salad rolls cut in half, but they were otherwise not...

Some words that come to mind when thinking of the Dream Cafe are: Special, unique, eclectic, musical, laughter, fun, great food and wine, ambiance........there is nothing better than experiencing the music, food, and laughter at The Dream Cafe on a hot summer evening......except for maybe having a casual lunch with a friend (more good food) while surrounded by the unique... more
We have been here many times and always look forward to our next visit. Always great musicians and wide variety of music. Anyone who plays here comments on the intimacy and atmosphere of the Dream Cafe. It seats 100 and can be quite 'cozy'. Performers always stay to talk with people and sign autographs. Thanks to Pierre and Debra for... more
We 'discovered' the Dream Cafe many years ago because we were following Michael Kaeshammer's career. We'd seen him perform with Harry Manx in Red Deer and were dazzled by his talent. Then I read that he was performing at a place called the Dream Cafe in Penticton, I couldn't place it even though we had been to Penticton before. Then... more
We had one fabulous meal there, but the next time it was not that great--because of the hockey game, place was empty and they don't usually get guests then. We also went for entertainment only and enjoyed the music. So, timing here is everything!
Thank You Pierre and Family for all the years of Good Food and Good Entertainment. This is by far the best live music venue in the Okanagan, I have travelled to many parts of the world to see live music... If you are ever in Penticton be sure to check out this location. Matt Anderson show have been the best.
Our friend was gigging here so our group were booked in for dinner and the show. What a great place! Staff were lovely, even though it was packed to the rafters they were efficient and friendly. Food was good and plentiful. Great ambiance (reminds me of Penticton in the 70s) and a fantastic place for live music. Everyone there seemed... more
I was somewhat disappointed by this place as I had heard great things about it. My meal was average at best, and for the price not great value. The atmosphere is nice and this would be a great place for a staff function or something, but I wouldn't return here on my own accord.
We had a great evening at the Dream Cafe dining, and listening to the Michael Kaeshammer trio. Its very personable owner Pierre consistently brings in world class entertainment. Excellent acoustics.
After walking in the dark streets of Penticton, BC (because it was past 5PM where you see no one on the streets), we were ready to get back to the hotel and call it a night (at 5PM???).
Then, we wanted to take the front street to go to our hotel and on the way, we saw this place. We...

Great breakfast, eggs benny, fantastic lunches, grilled wraps, and dinner, crab cakes...yummy, parmesan chicken...awesome, fresh crispy vegetables, and 5 star entertainment! Gotta go here!
This is a wonderful little restaurant, the best part being the awesome performances that take place on a regular basis. Pierre, the owner, brings in musicians on a regular basis, people such as Ben Waters (fabulous BoogieWoogie/Rock N roll Piano player from England!), Alpha Yaya Diallo (West African musician now living in Canada), Cuban Fire, Van Django, and on and... more
The owner, Pierre, once described Penticton as 'Pleasantville' as he was right! We keep coming back to Penticton and specifically, to the Dream Cafe! At the Dream Cafe, they offer live music nights, where you will hear a full range of music from the likes of Matt Anderson to Willie & Lobo while leisurely choosing from a menu that ranges... more
Happened upon the Dream Cafe in Penticton last weekend. This is a funky, fun restaurant with a great vibe and a great lunch!! The chicken entree was fabulous with a plateload of roasted veggies and coconut rice. My husband had the crabcakes and a friend had the mango chicken panini and said they were good as welll. The waitress told... more
While visiting Penticton Market, my sister and I stopped by for lunch. The samosas were awesome and the patio was great for people watching. After our meal we poked our heads in to look at the decor and met the owner, what a nice man. Can't wait for my next BC visit to catch the evening entertainment.
This cafe is a dream. Pierre, the owner, has created a haven for some of the best musical talent around. The menu is a great combination of international flavours. The room is smallish, so the concert experience is intimate and memorable. You meet Pierre once, and you can not help but feel like he is a long lost friend. Just... more
Welcoming staff and very good food with vegetarian choices. I love the concert nights...food, wine and great entertainment. Go to relax and eat well.
lots of adjectives for this place. Let me try a few new ones. Kaleidoscope of colours and textures. Kites and flags and carpets and art work galore. An eclectic potpourri of many different cultures.
A very pleasing blend of jazz club, poetry den, magic carpet ride and quaint hang out that only locals are supposed to know about. The food...

From the decor to the atmosphere to the amazing music - the Dream Cafe in Penticton is a must visit. Top off an excellent meal with one of their decadent desserts or specialty coffees.
Stopped here for lunch while walking around downtown. Sat outside on the patio since the trees offered some shade. Our waitress was friendly and helpful in deciding which of the many options to choose from. As a vegan, this was a great place where I felt I had lots of options, but my husband (who is not vegan) had plenty... more
The environment is worth everything. We went there for a brunch, not much variety, but taste was good. Don't forget to try the jam.
Stopped by for lunch and enjoyed very friendly service while sitting outside in the sun. The menu is great, lots of choices and fresh.
We love the Dream Cafe. Whenever we are in Penticton, we try to get in for one of the shows. Recently just saw a blues artist there, was a fun evening. Its a great place to see music, terrific atmosphere, is incredibly comfortable, food is good, Pierre the owner, is the consumate host. We are from the U.S., so we... more
We were lucky to get tickets on a Saturday night. I don't think there is a bad seat in the place. Very intimate concert venue. Dinner was great - fresh ingredients, well prepared. It was a special night - great food, wine and music.
The menu has a lot of choices from tandoori or Morroccan chicken to wraps and papadams. There is something for everyone here. The decor is also eclectic and very interesting. The owner is welcoming and friendly. The night we were there we enjoyed first class entertainment by Gary Comeau and the Voodoo Allstars , a New Orleans style blues band... more
We had an amazing lunch on the outside patio. Serve was great and food was excellent. I had the tandoori wrap with the roast veggie salad. YUMMY! I would go back in a heartbeat and if I lived here it would be a regular hangout:)
Great venue for musical talent they bring in regularly. Best to buy tickets in advance for nighttime entertainment. Also small but nice outside patio for lunch and interesting interior for a good meal at other times. Located downtown on eclectic Front Street. Nice, and relaxing
A very romantic place to take your sweetie for dinner and a show. I love the seating arrangements. There is not a bad seat in the place. Pierre is awesome and a terrific host who takes fabulous care of you the minute you walk in till the time you leave.
We loved the Dream Café, the music was great, the ambiance is totally there. The food main was ok but we had the toffee desert which was very good! They also have good wines and the whole experience was really nice. We will definitely go back to see more live music there!
We showed up around 17:30 without reservation on Saturday before Easter and had no trouble getting a decent table, overlooking the side of the stage. The food (we chose the daily special beef stew) was yummy, and we could have eaten twice the portion having spent the day hiking (would have been fine though on a normal day). A fantastic... more
Very good menu with wonderful selections. Good atmosphere and attentive wait staff. Food well prepared and presented.
We came in for dinner and entertainment. This is such a wonderful venue for getting 'up close and personal' with the entertainment. Meaning that many of the tables are within feet of the stage, but all the tables give a good view of the stage. This is "The Place" for jazz and blues in Penticton.
Try the baked Parmesan Chicken...

A Caribbean influenced menu and atmosphere. Very nice looking place, and the food held a lot of promise..... while the orders took some time to arrive, the food was good...our group had the fritatta, chorizo eggs benny and kari kacang/veggie samosa combo with a veggie barley soup.....I wasnt overly impressed with the look of the chorizo eggs benny, but my... more
This place is awesome...the seating seemed very tight but then we realized the seating is in a tiered semi circle around a stage where there are evening performances on a regular basis. We had just stopped in for lunch. The food was pretty good, not the best I've ever had, but the ambience makes up for it!
Went there to see one of my favourite Canadian songwriters......Ontario's Fred Eaglesmith, playin solo. Loved it. Bought five of his cd's. And I ordered the roast beef and yorkshire pudding special. Real Yorkshire pudding! And the roast was beautifully prepared. I'll be back!
The restaurant has friendly staff so I feel bad saying that the food kind of sucks.. But it does. Nothing seemed homemade or even fresh. From the appies to dessert it all tasted premade or frozen. They did have a good wine list.
I heard and read so much about this place, that on my recent visit (last week) to Penticton I thought of having dinner there. To my great surprise the place was closed around 7:30 or 7:45 p.m. Needless to say, I went elsewhere.
We went here for breakfast, and had a great wairess, and great service! Pierre the owner invited us back for live music the next night, and didn't disappoint with great food and music! This gem is a must!
i went here for breakfast/brunch years ago with my son and his friends, before grandkids. i came back last week with my grandchildren. i had a delicious carrot lentin soup. they made my g'children a grilled cheese sandwich that was not on the menu. this place is incredibly decorated from the owner's world travels, so lots for the grandchildren to... more
Music is the best in the ENTIRE VALLEY ... Make sure this place is on your bucket list - and then you will end up coming here all the time if you love GREAT MUSIC / ENTERTAINMENT and terrific food and staff!
Good food, good staff, good music, good atmosphere. Good God what more can you ask for!!?? I take friends for their first time visit and always enjoy their reactions. Pierre is a hoot. His taste in music is excellent, (because it is similar to mine!), but there is something for everyone there.
live entertainment (jazz), very very good service(food came fast) , funky, good food with flare, did not dissapoint will dine here again.
This place has a terrific atmosphere and Pierre is delightful. Some of the best folk and jazz oriented musicians in Canada end up playing there. And it's quiet when the musicians are playing. Every table has a good site-line to the stage. The food? It's OK......but it would be nice to see a few other dishes on there. And I... more

The Dream Cafe is the place in the South Okanagan to go for live music and dinner. The food is delicious, and the place is usually packed at lunch, but dinner is the key. Definitely make a reservation on show night – tickets and food are affordable.
The Dream Cafe is a cozy and comfortable local cafe that allows its patrons to savor their cup of coffee and light snacks sans any disturbances. It also features live music concerts on certain days and every performance here is well-attended.
