This is a great family restaurant with a new updated menu. We have been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and always leave satisfied. There is a great atmosphere and the entire staff is friendly and helpful. Demetre is known for making his dishes from scratch.. from the amazing soups to the awesome whipped potatoes. He does it all. I... more
Family owned and run makes this place a great place to take the whole family. Demetre himself makes sure the food is great, while Leah runs the restaurant and very well too. I have eaten here for years. Don't take my word for just go there.
We visited this place based on Tripadvisor reviews. It's probably the first time I've been misled. The waitress was lovely and was very helpful. The restaurant is clean and pretty with lots of hanging, stained glass lamps. My husband ordered the steak and asked for mashed potatoes when they were offered as a choice. When the dinner arrived, the steak... more
This is a lovely family restaurant with a lot of choices on the menu plus some daily specials. The environment is pleasant as are the staff members. There is plenty of free parking available. I have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner--all were good.
Family Restaurant is a well put term. It is comfortable, clean and without pretence. Service was attentive . Greek food is their specialty . We ordered moussaka
and liver and onions. Portions were plentiful. The moussaka was a bit over cooked and lacked some spice. Greek salad served on the side was tasty. For dessert we shared a slice of...

We entered and had to wait to be seated as the lady at the desk left instead of seating us. Took a good 5 minutes to be seated after staff saw us entering dining area looking for some service. Cindy took our drink order and gave us more time to look at menu. We ordered and it took 45 minutes... more
I've been here twice, once for dinner and once for breakfast and I attended a dinner event that they catered. I'm not sure what the hype is about at all, honestly. I should have listened to my stepdad who said they make food for the elderly who need mushy food with little taste. Both times I had to ask to... more
Stopped by Demetre's for lunch on our way into Stratford to see a play. First impression was that it could do with an update- wicker chairs, dark wood and plastic flowers. However, excellent menu, servers were great and the food is wonderful. Very reasonably priced for a delicious meal. Great location and plenty of parking. Definitely recommend this restaurant.
This is one of the more pleasant places to eat in Stratford. The restaurant is well appointed--brick, plants, gardens, and serves family style (plentiful) meals at respectable prices. Had a nice display of Pelee Island wines on while we had lunch so could choose from a wide range of nice wines.
Service was prompt and food tasty. Nice atmosphere--pleasant staff,,good...

When we got to the restaurant, we were told that a bus full of people had just arrived at the restaurant so we would be waiting for half an hour for our food. However, despite being so busy, we didn't have to wait that long before we got a table and our food. The food was simply delicious!!! Best calamari... more
Four of us stopped here for lunch today. Our order was: steak sandwich, chicken fingers, fettuccine alfredo with chicken and a mushroom omelet. The steak sandwich was tasty but had to be eaten with a knife and fork. We were expecting thinly sliced steak and this was a steak on the bun. The side salad that came with is was... more
Away from the downtown core of Stratford is a little old fashioned family restaurant that is like a step back in time!! Breakfasts to die for!!! I have eaten at many many Greek style restaurants in my travels and Demetre's by far has the best tasting Mousaka! While living there for several years we went to this restaurant for our... more
Had been to the Stratford Flower Show and was really chilled from the cold bldg. The waitress greeted us and I asked if I could have the warmest place in the restaurant. She seated us in front of the gas fireplace and turned it on right away. We both ordered the chicken souvlaki, with very flavorful rice and the chicken... more
so easy to drive by this well run and super friendly restaurant
soups are home made and the service was warm and friendly
we had an hour to wait before seeing our next client and this place did not rush us out
their Greek salad was super fresh and delicious
my client/friend had one of their burger type sandwiches which...

The decor needs updating - it appears tried and worn out. The food is fresh and wholesome, you will not get an upset stomach....but it is a we bit boring. The staff is older and set in their ways....a great place for seniors.
This is true ... we found in this restaurant the best pecan pie we've ever tasted ...
Besides that, this is a very nice place, good food, fantastic service ...
You certainly must try it if you go to Stratford ... don't miss it ... you'll love it.
God bless you
On a recent visit to Stratford, our party of six stayed at a motel a bit out of town. Looking for a place to eat one morning, we spotted Demetre's, which looked most inviting. We stopped-in for breakfast, and immediately felt that we'd found a hidden gem restaurant-wise. The hostess and waitstaff were most welcoming, the decor pleasantly homey, and... more
Unless you remember the days of salad bars, and tiffany lamps, you might not care for this place.
but, I liked it, alot. the food is good. prices are very reasonable. service was great. lots of atmoshpere. and even though I did not get to try some desert, I saw the tray. yummy.
I had the spanokapita and the baked...

My family has eaten at this restaurant many times. Service is friendly and prices are much better than some of the upscale restaurants in Stratford. It seems everyone of all ages in our family, from two to 85 can find something they like on the menu. I have always enjoyed the chicken souvlaki...skewered chicken and Greek salad.
I thought this would be a diner but it is both upscale more elaborate. The kitchen was excellent, the menu diverse and the prices low. The dining room was comfortable and service was fine. I liked it a lot.
We had breakfast at Demetre's. The servings were generous, with real home cooked potatoes! The pancakes, eggs and bacon were good. Our waitress was attentive to our requests and seemed genuinely happy to be serving her customers. We were a little surprised that they did not have a breakfast special at a lower price and that is what put it... more
Here just after the lunch hour rush. Nice location, good food, ( the tomato soup tasted like home made, NOT out of the can) very reasonably priced. Service good.
This is a lovely family restaurant with food that tastes home cooked! It has charming décor and a relaxed feel. The prices are reasonable and they serve a variety of food, with many of the specialties being Greek cuisine. If you love Greek food this is the place to try! They are used to the theatre crowd and try to... more
The food here is wonderfully prepared and served well. There is something for everyone and the atmosphere is very comfortable and inviting. This place is in an excellent location just outside of town with plenty of parking right outside. (Not good for walkers from downtown.)
Our dinner was subpar. The one positive I can say was our table was ready on time. We reserved a spot earlier in the day for a night at the theatre. We suspect most others at this venue were also out of town theatre patrons. Service was terrible and we felt sorry for the obviously harried waitress. We had the... more
In my opinion, this place is nothing to write home about. It's adequate and that about sums it up. You get what you pay for is written all over this establishment! The best part for us was the waitress and her friendly attitude. We just wish the food was better in quality, although the serving size was acceptable. I had... more
It seemed like most of the restaurants in town were pricier with meals starting at high $20 to $30's and they just didn't seem to have anything that sounded good. Well Demetre's has some of the basics with more affordable prices. My group got the prime rib special with salad or soup, tea or coffee and desert which was strawberry... more
Below average food. We'd eaten here once before (2yrs ago) and thought it was fine. This time it was pretty bad. They were out of several items including mushrooms (?).
Even the hamburger was bad.
We stopped by in Stratford on our way and had lunch at Demetre's. The environment is friendly for little kids. The food is generally good but a bit salty. The kids' menu is a great deal. There are drinks, fish & chips and a huge bowl of ice-cream for $6.95.
We have had lunch here a few times prior to an afternoon performance. The decor is grandma's house: brick and wall paper. You go here for the food, not a date. Breakfasts and sandwiches are very good. The home fries with breakfast are fresh potatoes grilled on the flat top with a light spicing. The western and gyro sandwiches are... more
We have been twice recently for lunch and then another time for dinner. We had sandwiches at lunch and sole at dinner. Both meals were tasty and well presented. The staff was excellent but at dinner when they appeared to be very busy, the service was slow. We would return again when we are in town.
This is where we choose to go out for supper and we reccomend it to all our BnB guests. Good meau selections and senior's portions.
Close to Forest Motel, near edge of town, good food.We got a package deal with the motel, was skeptial at first, nice meal and good variety on the menu.
The place is c@!p the staff should learn to smile or at least look like they like there job ??.Second visit and it will be the last over priced and food sucks. They must pay people to write the reviews or are they family??.What a hole in the wall go taste for yourself.Big waste of time and money.
Demetre's is a great family restaurant. The meals are delicious and the staff is No.1. We go there at least once a month and would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
We went to Demetre's for Greek food while away at a hockey tournament. Service was quick and the souvlaki my kids and I had was fresh and hot - we enjoyed it. The restaurant and decor is a little dated - however the prices are reasonable and good comfort food.
Whenever we are in the mood for some comfort food, my family will head over to Demetre's. We always hope to be greeted by Leah's smiling face but if not, there is always a friendly persom waiting to take us to our seats. The specials are always good deal but my favourite is moussaka which comes with rice and salad.... more
Been around for a while. Generic menu with vintage décor. Local favourite but visitor well advised to try the more modern, dynamic restaurants in town. Good prices though.
Ignore the 1980's decor and enjoy the food. We shared asparagus soup and they brought us two full separate bowls! It tasted great! Then we both had Demetres chicken wraps which came with fries. Large serving and delicious ! Very pleasant staff. The restaurant was quite busy when we drove by it. Couple times so we figured the locals know... more
We had a very nice meal at Demetre's last Saturday. It was past the theatre season, so it wasn't crowded. We were just passing though, and we stopped because we saw the relatively full parking lot. The food was better than a chain family restaurant like Denny's or (dare I say it) Swiss Chalet. Our kids enjoyed their kid's menu... more
Slow service, but they were busy so a little understandable. I got fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy on the side, and vegetables. Fried chicken was greasy. Instant potatoes. No gravy. Overlooked veggies. My mom got the fish n chips. The fish was mushy and gross. Spend your money elsewhere!
Not to be. Forgive the horrible pun- it's Stratford after all and I can't resist - and enjoy this place for what it is; a good spot for comfort food at a reasonable price. They serve breakfast until 2p.m.;a huge draw for my partner. They have yummy homemade soups and sandwichs and the servers are the nicest people ever. The... more
Good food. Great service. Was a little crowded in dining area. Not much privacy between tables. Would go again
The food at Demetre's was plain, tasteless, and rather run of the mill. This is not an exciting place to eat. The decor is tired, dated, and uninviting. I am surprised how fun the parking lot was, however, it is not a place I will be rushing back too. They would do well to up-date the environment!
Not bad is about the best I can say about this restaurant. I went here earlier this week with a 13-year old niece of mine. To be honest, the service was absolutely fabulous. The food was also good. It was not, however, great. This is definitely not a fine dining establishment. As the name says, it's a "family eatery". We... more
Fantastic service I loved the atmosphere but by far the best part of the meal was my waitress leeane she made the dinner far more enjoyable
Demetre's offers a pretty typical family place menu. It is pleasant and quiet, which is a nice break from the bustle of in-town Stratford. The mature trees provide nice shade, and the interior is done in cloth and wood, rather than vinyl and metal. In cool weather they'll run the fireplace. ...but... you do have to accept that they use... more
We visited Demetre's on our first visit to Stratford a couple of years ago and so were not hesitant to return this year. What a disappointment! We were seated right away and the server came to us in acceptable time so that part was OK but that's where it ended. My virgin ceasar was bland, had no inkling of any... more
the food was ok, my husbands steak was not good, just average food, I would not recommend this place.
This place is just ok,home cooking??.The prices is a little on the high side for what you get.The service is just average as well, they have a senior menu. All in all it's just ok we would not rush too go back, you can find better in Stratford.
Demetre's Family Eatery offers these services: restaurant.
