Been here many times over the past 10 years- prices are creeping up way too high for a thin pancake.
This place used to be unique and interesting. If I want a thin pancake I can make that at home.
Pass.
Well I'd love to write a review about their food, but I unfortunately wasn't even served. Not water, not anything. Sat there for over 20 minutes and didn't get anything. Two ladies walked in after us and were helped immediately. Not sure why they thought we shouldn't be served, but I'm definitely not going back!
Well it's a Vancouver staple, and their pannekoeks are delicious. The apple cinnamon is my favourite. Service is spotty though and over the years it's gotten a bit dingy inside. Prices are a bit high for what you get. Avoid the lemonade as it is made from a powder.
Best breakfast place. I got addicted to their pan cakes. Try the hash or if you like sweets, the chocolate strawberry nutella.
This place has been here forever and it's a small restaurant, but I love it.
It's comfort food for families or just a nice brunch place to catch up with friends. Sweet and savory pancakes, traditional ham, sausages, eggs etc.
Fast service. Reasonable price. A brunch place to keep in the back of your mind :)
I love this place, it is my favourite breakfast place.
I always get the Mexican omelet with salsa and cream cheese, comes with hash-browns and fruit salad and toast.
It is fresh, not greasy at all, and they give big portions. I also love how the give large tea pots for your tea, so the tea last longer.
I came here with a bunch of friends just 'cause. I am a pancake person myself, however, enjoy a good crepe here and there. I found that the selection was awesome, staff were friendly and prices were fair. I love fresh fruit anything.
Breakfast was tasty, but VERY expensive. I have a hard time understanding how one glorified large pancake with a smattering of toppings goes for $14.50. Sure it's unique, but pancakes (I understand that a pananekoek is not a traditional pancake) should not cost this much. Some of the breakfast menu items were upwards of $20! Service was spotty at first but became better as our meal progressed;... more
This place has gone downhill and it's very sad. As I remember this location it used to have a large following of people waiting to be seated. This was clearly not the same as I remembered it because there was no wait (warning sign). This was not my first visit to DeDutch but I am afraid this will be the last visit ever again. Firstly, the photo looks nothing like the actual food and it was a... more
I am so happy that De Dutch now has gluten-free pannekoeks! Yay! It is one of my daughter's favourite places to have breakfast and now I am no longer relegated to having just eggs and fruit. They even have gluten-free toast! Definitely one of the better breakfast deals in town.
Be wary! I went here with my boyfriend and his friend. We all got the DeSausage and eggs and a few hours later we all had stomach problems. Two of us got scrambled eggs, one of us got over easy.
For most items, the prices are a bit higher than IHOP.
The food did taste good, but none of us appreciated the "issues" we encountered.
I will probably not come here again, unless it gets cheaper and...

a great breakfast place in the fairview neighbourhood. busy on weekends but well worth the wait! 'The Canadian' pannekoek is my favorite!
It took years for me to step into De Dutch, thanks to the kitschy, IHOP-looking exterior. Tragic, wasted (but slimmer) years.
Here's the thing: this is so NOT a generic pancake place. These pancakes are somewhere between a crepe and a pancake: thin enough to roll up around your choice of ingredients, but more substantial than a crepe. The choice of toppings is also far wider than you'd find in...

I first heard about this place from my white friends way back in high school... (no racial).. then i thought to myself.... "what the F#$K is a Pannekoek!?"
A Pannekoek is a Dutch pancake, similar to the the American one but the size of a 12" plate and a thinner!! mmmm. The menu was pretty big so i had a hard time picking what i wanted.. I'm more of a sweet then a savory kind of guy so that...

We split the Boer (Farmer's) Pannekoek ($16). The server was kind enough to divide everything onto two plates: ham, sausage, bacon, egg, and hollandaise sauce. Deliciousness served up in a clean, pleasant, and sunny location.
Four hours and a 4km walk later and I am still really full after eating 3/4 of my pannekoek! For those who have previously commented that the price that they charge for a "pancake" is outrageous, um, this is a pannekeok not a pancake. It is kind of like saying that the price being charged for an egg is outrageous when you have been served an omelette.
I ordered a savoury pannekoek with turkey...

I had scrambled eggs, turkey bacon and a pancake with "genuine" maple syrup. I ate it all. The pancake was thicker than a crepe and had a bit of a creamy texture.
Our server was very nice. We were seated right away (went Saturday around noon).
3.5 stars but rounding up :)
Came here with the boy because he loves pancakes with a fervour that I've never seen before. At 11:40 am on a Sunday, it's packed! We waited for about 25 minutes before getting a seat. The hostess appeared a little frazzled. "What do you want to drink." Was it...a question?
Our server was friendlier, which was good :) We ordered the Pannekoek with debakon hash...

Although I'm not partial to pannekoeks, I do appreciate the consistent breakfasts and great service at this local diner. I have several friends who have regular cravings for this place. The coffee is reasonably good. It's too bad they're not open during dinner.
The pancakes were a bit different from the Dutch pancakes I'm use to - the Dutch pancakes in California are less fluffy and more crispy. Not sure which is more authentic.
The pancakes here were good but I was more impressed by the perfectly cooked eggs (over medium) and bacon. The coffee was good as well.
The restaurant has probably been around for a while since it's a bit dated but it has...

I've never been to this place, but I'm trying to find the restaurant used in the filming of the tv show Dead Like Me, which in the series is called Der Waffle Haus.
Is this the place???
If you are craving pancakes for $11 then this is the place for you! I have visited several different De Dutch locations and really don't get the draw. The prices are bit steep and the food is pretty bland. The decor is pretty basic and really doesn't have any personality.
I can never get enough of this place when I visit Canada! My cousin/nephew took us to this place. And everytime we go to Canada we have to have it.. well I do...
The Place is clean and friendly!! But the wait to be seating can be foreverrrr... doesn't matter which de dutch you go to there is always a wait.. But thank god we didn't have to wait..
I'd say they have the yummmiest pancakes.. You...

This De Dutch has been around for ages and is in a great central location for early morning breakfast meetings.
When in the mood for pancakes I would certainly pick this place over an IHOP as their pancakes are extra tasty even just plain.
Smiles are as generous as the portions. Dig into omelettes, scrambles and thicker-than-crepes pannekoeken. $. B/L (daily).
De Dutch Pannekoek House offers these services: restaurant.
