Overall a good hotel for the money. We like that it is close to the places we need to go to in Nanaimo.
Hot tub closed without any notice for maintenance. After specifically requesting one prior to booking. TV system sucked. Hotel staff was rude and inconsiderate.
The hotel staff were wonderful! Very clean and a really nice pool for swimming laps. I'm not certain why all the negative reviews, but the hotel is more than worth the money spent.
The room was clean and staff were very helpful, pleasing and accommodating. Hotel in general needs updating and the common areas seemed dirty (ie. floors, carpet).
The room was O.K. The dinner was quite good. Breakfast was just barely a continental deal. The power went out at a little after 7 am. The halls were very dark with no emergency lights. The front desk person said is did happen occasionally, but was very inconvenient. We left quickly.
Nothing fancy, but the rooms were clean and the staff were very nice. Used the hot tub, the jets didn't work great but not a big deal. Overall, great value for the price.
Minutes from downtown, easy access to highway. Quiet rooms. Odd room layout but comfortable
Good hotel for a short stay and for the price; very friendly and good staff; clean room. Hotel needs updating.
it's a hotel better than some other places I have stayed
Pleasant hotel, close to highway, in between ferry terminals.
We were only staying overnight, but the room was comfortable and clean. We had a swim, relaxed in the spa and slept well. Staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.
Only stayed overnight. Was disappointing at best. Was very dated. Hard to get to from the north side of town. We had to drive past and then find a place to turn around and go back to be able to turn into the hotel drive way.
We stayed for 3 nights in a king room. It has been remodelled and the beds and pillows are of a good quality. Very clean through out. We would use this facility again.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Facilities good.
Arrived late in the evening after a long tiring journey from UK to a warm friendly greeting at reception. Receptionist was very helpful ensuring we were settled in our room with the minimum of fuss
Clean and ok. We were given a room below the ground level. Give the feeling of an enclosed space. Otherwise, it has good price and proximity to downtown.
I thought the continental breakfast you served was excellent, both my husband and myself were very impressed... more
Hotel was clean and comfortable. Pool was okay and restaurant was good.
The hotel was undergoing renovations which should help with the very dated look it currently has. The pool in particular looks older and in need of some updating and the hot tub had stuff (not sure if it was sand or what) sitting at the bottom of it. On our last day there, there was an awful sewer smell surrounding the hotel, both inside and out. It was gone by morning, thankfully. The... more
Friendly, efficient staff and a nice comfortable room
I bet this place was really nice 40 years ago. Nothing has changed.
Dirty pool with cloudy water and old damaged bathrooms with dirty carpets.
clean, spacey, kitchenette, continental breakfast. everything you need for your family trip. would like to go back.
My ratings are relative to the room rate of this hotel. To the point: All the staff was very friendly. Our room was spacious and clean with new carpet. The cleaning staff is meticulous. The air conditioner was a newer unit, cold and reasonably quiet. It appears as though upgrades are ongoing - the desk, chair, night table, and dresser/TV stand are contemporary, but the couch and bathroom... more
Hotel was nice, clean and up-to-date. Staff on check in complained about having to go downstairs and get us a pack 'n play and was also on a personal phone call. Unprofessional but friendly. Would stay again.
Our stay was during renovation I think, the halls are not too inviting. Also the continental breakfast is rather poor but there is a restaurant that you can get decent breakfast, we didn't have time in the morning, overall impression : not bad for the price.
Directions to the hotel were not good when in fact the hotel is directly on HWY19A ( trans Canada loop thru Nanaimo). The room was comfortable but the breakfast was dissapointing, some cold cereal and rolls. The desk clerk was inattentive as we were checking in. She was trying to talk on phone and help us at the same time. It took 15 minutes to get in when we were the only ones on the lobby. I... more
Pros: The pool and hot tub were relaxing and were hardly being used. The pool itself could stand to be scrubbed along the sides but it wasn't too bad to swim in. The room was clean and the breakfast was ok (could have been improved by a waffle iron). Cons: Not super close to downtown Nanaimo and if you were coming from the North, you couldn't turn into the hotel because there were double lines... more
Eén overnachting. Kamer wel netjes. De airco maakte heel veel lawaai, het was warm dus dat was niet prettig. Ontbijt was minimaal.
The bed was comfortable, but like another reviewer, I also saw a silverfish on the floor in the bathroom. We were also a bit taken aback by the demand of a $50 damage deposit by a slightly rude desk clerk, although he corrected his attitude. The fact that there are only styrofoam or paper cups in the room also could be indicative of the kind of guests they get. The breakfast at the restaurant... more
Our room was very clean and overall a pleasant stay. The front desk was helpful whenever we needed something. They were continually filling up the continental breakfast even up to the end. I did have a bit of an issue with restaurant. Although the food was good and service was great, there were a lot of fruit flies. I am not sure if that is common thing in BC but it didn't do anything for my... more
Good enough for 1 nights stay after arriving in the Island. Continental breakfast nice.
On the highway entering Nanimo. Enjoyed the pool, hot tub and free continental breakfast.
Terrible beds. Way to soft. Breakfast is very poor. Housekeeping forgets to replenish the room and even forgets to clean half te room. Overall not what to expect for a days inn.
I enjoyed my stay in the Days Inn, however I did notice a silverfish on the floor near the fridge. The toilet was low, and a grab bar in the shower stall would be a good idea.
Old from the outside, but very well renovated inside. Close to town and very very confortable bed
The rooms have partial view of the water/bay and is located by the highway and it can be a real challenge to turn left if your are comming from the downtown Nanaimo. The exit to the rear parkade was full of bad odour on the first morning.
After reading all previous reviews I had very low expectations. However I was proven very wrong with a Comfy bed, 2 TVs, a microwave, fridge and CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST! Thanks days inn. You made my stay in Nanaimo pleasant. Side note, you MUST go to Little George's in south Nanaimo. Food and service is amazing.
Todo perfecto , recepcionista solo habla ingles tendria q hablar mas idiomas para ese puesto
We enjoyed our stay. The room was very spacious, and we were happy to have a fridge that we could use as well.
Stayed and wa s happy with the cleanliness of the room. The hotel is very dated and run down and the pool was disgusting. Overall still one of the better hotels I seen in the area. The breakfast in the morning was disappointing to say the least but the restaurant in the lobby served a decent breakfast.
Was avail when everything else was booked. Close to town, nice indoor pool with super hot hot tub. Worth the 3 stars.
I was not expecting a Days Inn to be as nice as it was in Nanaimo. The rooms are very spacious & I liked the layout.
They had recently replaced the carpet and you could smell the fresh paint. The room was simple but clean.
tried to book online but found the web site unmanageable. called hotel and had a very nice helpful women book our rooms at the same price as they were online . Stumbled across this last minute on a good deal, the kids enjoyed the food in the restaurant, pool & hot tub were a bonus pretty quiet when we went. Writing this as I actually sit in the motel room. The staff arevery nice. The food was good value and quite enjoyable. The room was basic. I wouldn't say it was worth tge $100 we paid. Read the other (negative) reviews for this hotel, booked the room anyway, and then got into the room not knowing what the other reviewers were complaining about. I got a room with 1 queen bed and a sofa bed. Cost $101.00 CAD. My room was basically a suite: a living room area with the sofa, desk, fridge, microwave and tv.... more
Pleasant enough hotel, slightly further out of town. Could do with some updating. Breakfast is basic to say the least.
The stay at Days Inn Nanaimo is always a joyous one! Excellent, courtious staff, comfortable beds, clean rooms, bathrooms and floor. The newly renovated room was very comfortable. The staff very accomodating and the ABC Restaurant always wonderful.
Reception Staff was very friendly. I stayed at Days Inn for 2 nights and didn't find any problem. Secondly, there was a restaurant which made it easy for me to eat a variety of foods without going outside in the cold weather.
every thing was satisfactory except we were verbaly told room 354 when it was254 there wasnt a 354 .beds were good rooms good breakfast good
We booked this hotel because we wanted something south of the city. We were going to be doing some touring of the towns south of Nanaimo, and we also wanted to have easy access to the airport for our return trip home.
The staff were fantastic and very friendly when we checked in and out. But we didn't overly enjoy...

There was really nothing that I did not like.
Great staff - perfect room for my business and sleeping comfort- convenient location for me to go and meet clients- relaxing pool and hot tub after some long days- great food at the on site restaurant

Didn't like to leave such a friendly convenient location that made some long business days so relaxing and enjoyable
I liked that it was clean .. and well maintained. The breakfast was nice as well.
Staff tried hard

The breakfast was good. Steff were very friendly, Room was OK,

Carpets needed cleaning. The pull-out sofa was terrible. A hammock would have made for a better bed.

The bathroom fixtures, and Arborite panelling were a bit worn out, and the paint was very tired in the bathroom area.
My key card didn't work right after I checked in and then I had to walk back to the front desk carrying all of my luggage to get a new one. Frustrating.
We arrived late evening and all requested details pertaining to our room stay were met to our expectations and further. Thank you so much for a great, clean stay, we will definitely stay again.
I went to this hotel with a client in a wheelchair. When we asked them for a handicapped room, and told them the specifications, they assured us they had what we needed. Asked about pets, and they said it was alright. When we arrived they let us know there was no pets allowed and also charged us for her guide... more

Our stay was just what we expected, pleasant and welcoming. This was a great "home base" for us as we ventured off on day trips and explored central Van. Isle. The staff were super, the rooms were clean and overall we would stay again.
friendly staff. easy to find after a long day of travel plus the ferry ride. Nothing special about the room. clean enough and a good value for a one night stay.
Average hotel room. The tv in the living room was an old one really disappointing when the tv is old.
Execellent staff, upgraded us to a family room.
Pool was empty when we went in so great for the kids to splash and make a noise in
\n\n
The building is tired and not in a very nice area of town
I'd like to see natural light for putting on make up. And a guide of what is playing on which channels. I'd like to see some protein at the breakfast - just eggs would be good, need not be fancy. Human bodies need protein, especially in the am. Not everyone can eat yogurt.
Hotel was good, staffs are fine and polite
Well situated, easy to find. The parking was a little tight.
We shall use it again. The sea inlet is very near, lot fo restaurants within a short distance.
Thank you.
It was a special occasion for my fiance and I, we had our minister coming over to baptize my fiance in the pool it was perfect and the breakfast was awesome.
Our room was clean and comfortable and contained everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The staff were most polite and friendly. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. After traveling for close to two weeks it was nice to have guest laundry which was accessible and clean. they even offered to provide the laundry soap.

We've never slept on as luxurious and comfy beds as those in our room at the Days Inn in Nanaimo. It was like sleeping on a cloud! (The mattress cover and duvet were down-filled!) Although we slept in, I did like the included breakfast. And we LOVED the pool.

You really need to invest in adult size towels.... my towel was wet before I was dry. It didn't even wrap around my body and I'm not a very big person. Next time we plan on bringing our own towels, we are highly disappointed in your towels.
Typical what to expect from Day's Inn chain with a bonus of friendly accommodating staff.
