2009 May 1-3 I would even want to see steet people stay here for free. Hot water took forever to get to taps. Toilet pipes hummed if not flushed right. Toilet rocked when you sat down. Parking for register guest were up the street if you came to hotel late because an event took all the parking. Even though hotel signs said register guest only. Parking lot was full of garbage. Ice machines... more
I picked this hotel for it's proximity to the Chinook Center mall. Good value in a clean well-kept hotel.
I loved this property. It's located 3 minutes from downtown with easy access transportation ( bus service on the front and train station one block behind which I loved very much as center city is very busy by car ). One station from the Stampede Park. Nearby services grocery stores, malls, restaurants..... The rooms I got was very comfortable, clean big and lighted with mini-frige and coffe... more
For the price comparison to other hotels in the Calgary area, I did not have high expectations. I was pleasantly surprised to see thick white duvet covers and a beautifully decorated/renovated bathroom. The continental breakfast not only tasted great, but the kids absolutely loved it! Thanks for a great holiday.
1 night stay for 2 people. Checked into hotel in the early AM, found our room to be not changed over by housekeeping. Wasnt majorly annoyed by this, the nice British guy at the front desk sorted it out quick, and upgraded us to the best suite room in the hotel for the inconvienience. As long as things are sorted out quick, I can forgive. The lobby is nicer than alot of budget hotels, and even... more
Good location, nice rooms, decent price, not a 5 star accommodation but not a 5 star price either! Overall a good bet. One downside is no restaurant aside from the continental breakfast room, none that I could find. Hair salon buy no food, odd..
We were really impressed. It was very clean - including a duvet cover on the beds, which let me know even the tops were clean! And despite it's busy location (a main street on one side and LRT rail on the other) it was surprisingly quiet. Small bathroom, which was OK as it made the room space much more comfortable.
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable! My kids loved the pool!
Overall, I was satisfied with my stay. The room was clean and comfortable. And the pool was enjoyable. Unfortunately, I do have a few complaints. The toliet was too tall, my feet hardly touched the floor, making uncomfortable. I am 5'8". As well, The room smelt unpleasant, like urinal pucks. Don't get me wrong, the room was extremely clean, just smelt bad. And lastly, Due to the fact I was... more
Had a great time and Calgary and did not have to worry about the accomedations one bit... Thanks for the wonderful weekend... more
The only good thing about the hotel was the receptionist we met the first day. She really did her best to help us out. Otherwise the beddings were not very clean, there was a lamp with a completely broken shade in the room which we asked to be taken out and it was not done until we asked again on the second day. There was a fat chunk of gum which someone had chewed and left on the chair. ... more
stayed here for a convention at stampede, staff was extreamly friendly and went above and beyond. Charlot at the front desk recommended Rissotto at the Metropoliton grill for dinner and was bang on. Food was great! Everyone at the hotel was friendly and the overnight guys made coffee for us before the breakfast opened so we could have a hot... more
I've stayed there twoice. Good value/location for Calgary.
Check in was relatively smooth, the front desk staff is nothing to write home about. One lady in particular was very nice with character but the others were challenged there. When we got to our room it smelled funny, not sure what it was but it was stinky. I noticed a connecting door in our room and realized that I... more
We stayed there in early January and have stayed there before - both times for business travel. I find the location of the place very well located and close to downtown where I have business meetings and epecially great if if you want to take in a Flames game. I see some decent renovations are going on which I look... more
After reading the other reviews I see there is a pattern here. Check in was fine, the people at the front desk on nights were not so helpful but Mathew on days was excellent. I used points to book this room to start. As mentioned in other reviews we were also put over the local bar, the bass made the... more
This was our third year to Calgary in March, and although our travel was arranged by someone new in the office, this was our first and last stay at Days Inn. The check in was fast and efficient, and the folks behind the counter were helpful, but the first room we were given smelled of stale vomit, so we asked... more
One of the best values I have found in Calgary.
I stayed at the Days Inn Calgary South recently for a business meeting. Wasn't sure about the place after reading the reviews, but I found it to be great! Comfortable beds, clean room, and the front desk staff was extremely helpful. Apparently there is a new manager there so perhaps she is helping them improve their image. There were some... more
Check-in went well but on my way up to my room (over the bar UGH) there was empty beer bottles on stairs and what looked like dried spit on the railings. The bottles were cleaned up 3 days later and it was a sunday night check in. First glance the room looked good but on closer inspection the dishes were... more
Let's start from the check-in part. When I asked the young lady at the front desk if the parking lot was safe enough for me to leave some things (very large items) in the back of the car her response was "as safe as Calgary can be"... In the room when I wanted to take a shower before going to... more
We just got back from an overnighter at this hotel. Let me first say that the first impression is really good. You walk in and it's all nice and new and looks great. Reservations were through expedia and that process went great. Then we took the elevator to our room. On the surface it looked okay, however as I was... more
I stayed at the days Inn south from the 31st Aug until the 8th of september. For the worldskills competition as part of a supporters tour. The PC in our room was not working for the ENTIRE stay even though every day I went downstairs and asked for it to be fixed or at the very least looked at. Now... more
If we hadn't pre-paid we wouldn't have stsyed.
I have never seen this kind of hotel. This is the worst I've ever seen, even worse than the $50 range motel. The bedsheet and blanket cover were so dirty and have yellow stains. The maintenance was so bad. I even stepped into their renovation time in the hallway. Wow so scary, no carpet, and smell extremely bad, even in... more
I was nervous about staying here after reading some not positive reviews, but kept my booking anyway and was pleasantly surprised. Is this a 5 start hotel, no, but is it a nice clean hotel, from our experience yes. We did not have a view our windows were frosted and when I peeked out the top of the window we... more
Me and my boyfriend stayed at Days Inn South 7-8 July 2009 to visit the Stampede, and I had doubts as I had read all the negative reviews. We were prepared to find a dump, but we were surprised! The room was huge and clean and had all the facitilities you could wish. The staff was very helpful and friendly,... more
I recently stayed here for 3 nights for the Calgary Stampede at the end of my Canadian Rockies tour and cannot believe all of the bad reviews on here! I do not expect 5 star treatment, but neither will I put up with any old thing and I experienced none of the faults spoken about in previous reviews. We had... more
We stayed July 6&7. after booking I checked out some of the reviews and was worried that I picked a c@!%!y hotel. I was pleased to not see anything related to all the negative comments I saw. I found the staff to be freindly and helpfull. we also stayed on the 4th floor, and it was obvious that the halls... more
We stayed for one night. Though it has a nice lobby, it is apparent when you walk down the hallways that this place is past its prime and on the way down. The parking lot was very small a difficult to move in. The manager however, was a great young man and very helpful with problems we had and very... more
This hotel proved to be neglected throughout - needs a lot of TLC from ownership. We would recommend looking elsewhere first.
We stayed here one night as we got in late at the airport. It is a bit far from there and cost $42.00 by taxi. The lady at the desk (Bobbie I think ) was very helpful and efficient. The Room was nice without being spectacular. It was quiet enough for a good nights' rest. The grounds seem a bit shabby... more
Initial impressions were good, nice reception, grubby stairs with a water leak and tired hall ways. The room was very pleasant but then the smell of curry appeared. There was an indian curry cook house below the hotel and boy did it stink. I like curry but this was over the top. we spoke to the staff and they said... more
Spent 3 nights during the first week of June 09, while on a business trip in Calgary. Positives: Well priced for the location. Rooms dated but clean (although there was a musty smell on day 1 of my stay) Room was reasonably spacious, liked the fridge and microwave in the room Housekeeping was effective, not stellar. Ensured the room was... more
If price is not a big factor, make reservations else where. My mistake was sucking it up and staying for the two nights. A few problems I noticed: stale smoke smell in hallway and room, thin walls, bed sheets not really clean, poor sink drainage, dirty carpet & curtains and broken lights. As for the breakfast...no thanks. The staff was... more
I read the poor reviews before we went, but we are pretty easy to please and thought it couldn't be that bad. Well, it mostly was. We are a family of 5 and stayed for 3 nights over the May long weekend. I say mostly bad because we found the staff to be very friendly (with the exception of 1... more
What a [----] hole. The dirtiest dingy hotel i have stayed in ever, The room had previous guests garbage on the floor, the bedding sheets had hair on them including the pillow. DO THEY EVER CHANGE THE SHEETS. The washroom was uncleaned, dirt in the tiling, personal hairs of people all over the floor, feaces around the toilet bowl Yes... more
I do a lot of work in Calgary and we use this hotel sometimes. Biggest advantage - it's a good location if you have work downtown or in the SE. Downtown and SE Calgary have very few decent mid-range hotels so it's an alternative. I've never had problems with cleanliness or service myself. Breakfast is OK. Disadvantages - the upper... more
Staff was friendly, but place was a little run down although room was clean. I had trouble getting hot water one evening and was asked to "let it run about 15 minutes" to get some. It only took about 5-7 minutes and then there was plenty.
We will never stay there again! First, we were not allowed to check in early, even though there were many vacant rooms... so we put our luggage in an unregulated storage room where anyone could walk in and take our stuff. Then the main parking lot was rediculously small, so you drive down a ski slope to the other parking... more
Hi i have booked thee days inn through expedia. This is one of the worst motels i would have gone to due to maintance of the motel and response of people working in the motel.I checked in motel on sunday i washroom lock was not working ,i did not have time to compaint due to my personal meetting when i complainted... more
Most things were pretty good, except the bathroom shower which was dripping water and took a long time time before getting hot water. Air conditioning too felt like it was blowing air at the same temp of around 65 no matter what you set the temp to. Otherwise the hotel was decent.
Days Inn South Calgary, reception is very good, but after that very littlw pleases the eye. Hallway carpets are in serious need of professional cleaning services, and while the beds are comfortable it is a poor option to use 2 white flat sheets instead of a cover for the duvet. I was very frustrated to have to stand waiting for the water in the shower to get warm enough for me to even think... more
A really good place to stay if you want to be close to downtown yet have decent access to the main arteries. The hotel is fairly modern looking for its age, and is incredibly well staffed. Did find that the pool area to be a little on the dirty side, but other than that, all the other amenities were in... more
For a place to stay, this hotel provided the basic needs. Its an aging property, however the room itself was clean. The hallways left alot to be desired, but we don't sleep in the hallways, do we? There is a Tim Hortons and MacDonald's next door which proved to be invaluable, since the hotel had no restaurant available. The wireless internet wasn't working during my stay and the front... more
I booked this hotel for 1 night on Hotwire. It was rated 2.5 stars and cost US$100. That’s too high a rating, and clearly too high a price. This is a dumpy old property that had only a partial makeover. (It became a Days Inn ~2004) Here's the good: - free breakfast includes make-your-own-waffles; the eating area is large -... more
We stayed at the Days Inn Calgary south for three days. During this visit, the staff were pleasant and very helpfull. Rooms were clean and the facilities were great. Plenty of selection for the morning breakfast. Would highly recommend.
The Days Inn on McCleod in Calgary was very reasonably priced and included free internet, free breakfast, free parking and an indoor pool. We had stayed in another hotel a few blocks away, earlier in the week that was more expensive and offered fewer amenities. The staff was very friendly. Check is was smooth. The location was close to restaurants, the Chinook mall and was within 2 miles of... more
Hotel is an older hotel that has been redone. Could still use some work. Rooms were clean. Pool is ok. Breakfast was good and lots of choices.
My family and I were booked into this place for a three day stay but one look at the room sent us running for a new hotel. The room wasdirty , rundown and dark. There were smears on the furniture where there had been attempts to clean , there was garbage on the floor and no covers on the beds.... more
The only thing this hotel has going for it is location. It is well located close to downtown Calgary and thats where the good ends. The hotel is in need of a full renovation. The hallways are dark and there is a sense of everything being covered in some old layer of dirt. The beds were clean but the bathroom... more
The Days Inn Calgary South was close to where I was going to do business on this trip. I had attempted to use the printer in the office center and found that there was no printer... which I thought was odd. The staff helped me print what I needed by using their computer and printer behind the counter, so I found the staff helpful. The hotel was alright and I felt ok about my stay in general... more
This is a bad place. Shoddy interior. Elevator takes way too long. Too few clean towels to give more than 2 per room. Dirty bathrooms with black grount between the floor tiles. Altogether disappointing. Avoid this place.
The building was at a convenient location to downtown and world class shopping mall, Chinook Centre. The building was attractive and the room was in great condition. The carpet in the room was practically new. The linens were crisp, clean, and very white. Excellent price per night for a booming city. And breakfast included too! I would definitely stay there again.
Good location. Close to Downtown (too far to walk, but close enought to use the transit system). No restaurant directly in the building, but a lot of fast food around (McDonald's, Tim Horton's). Cheaper Hotel found in Calgary. As it's easy for me to be satisfied, It's a good choice. I recommand this hotel if you want to discover the... more
This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. We arrived from the UK after an 8 hour flight and went to our room which was dark and noisy. The hotel's air conditioning unit was right outside the window and throughout the night came off and on every minute and 37 seconds. We had requested a move... more
I stayed here for 2 nights. The front desk staff were terrible no help whatsoever. There is no restaurant in the hotel and the breakfast is really terrible. The rooms were outdated but very clean. The only person to be of any help were the housekeeping staff, who help carry my luggage. I would look elswhere to stay next time
It is a decent hotel.Better than staying in downtown. Bit pricey though. Parking will be a bit problem if u come late in the night. Other than that the receptionists are very nice and helpful. Room is good too.Recommend the hotel.
we thought everything was very good. the complimemtary breakfast was very good and had a good variety of food. i was surprised to see only 1 small coffee pot for so many people. other motels usually have 3 large coffee pots for coffee: one decafe, one regular, and one hot water for tea and hot chocolate. the rooms were clean and made up very nicely.
Impression from outside was that it was a bit shabby, but inside, it had been recently renovated. The room was very spacious with kitchen sink, microwave, fridge, coffee maker etc a settee and two queen sized beds. There was no air conditioning, but they provided a fan, which was a bit noisy. The hotel is next to Tim Hortons, and... more
Overall this hotel was satisfactory. We arrived early in the day (~10AM) and called ahead to see if they would be able to accommodate an early check-in. We were told the cleaning staff had just begun and there was no way we could check in yet. We were close by the hotel so stopped in to see if we could... more
Maybee some of the rooms are ok but the one we had was not. The entire hotel is supposed to be non- smoking but the room we were in stunk of old smoke. Even the ceiling and fixtures had that yellow-brown coating of smoke and had not been cleaned. My view was a roof top air conditioner. Small bathroom. Clean... more
The exterior of the hotel is a bit dated. Rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The continental breakfast was quite good. The hotel is close to restaurants and shopping malls. Would recommend!
It was our first time in Canada, we stayed at the Days Inn for six nights we found the staff very helpful and friendly the rooms had everything you needed cleaners came in everyday really enjoyed it, would recommend the hotel also the hairdresser at the hotel was fab.
Stayed here for 3 nights in a business room. The room itself was very good -- newly renovated, duvets on the beds, and an in-room computer with free Internet. The air conditioning functioned well but was very noisy so bring your earplugs. The hotel itself is in need of a major update / cleaning. The elevator is filthy and run-down,... more
We were in Calgary for the Stampede and this hotel is within walking distance (20mins) or you can take the train from two blocks away. The staff were friendly. The room was quite dated but I think they are starting to upgrade the rooms. We had a window but it was frosted so we couldn't see the wall view !... more
I went on-line to try and find the most reasonable hotel I could find as we were en-route to another destination so I was just hoping for a clean room. As in turned out the room was clean, hotel staff were friendly, good with kids, gave a gift bag to our kids, housed our bikes for us, gave us coupons... more
The location was okay but the service was poor for the money. For the continental breakfast you had to bring a coupon and 1/2 hour before closing they closed one of the breakfast bars. The apple juice was terrible - undrinkable, watered down so much. The rooms seemed dirty and the duvet was dirty. I was not at all impressed and would not stay there again if I am ever back in Calgary.
This is a very nice, even upscale, hotel for a Days Inn. It is on a busy street in a busy area of Calgary. It is very clean and comfortable, except that our nonsmoking room smelled a bit like smoke, so I believe they needed to clean more thoroughly. It is now a completely non-smoking hotel, which we like, but... more
