Oh so good

We love Indian food. We tried this place based on the reviews and our hope for a yummy dinner. After a review of the extensive menu (available on their website) we chose the vegetarian dinner for 2. It came with several dishes and dessert. Each dish was excellent and the dessert was a nice treat. We will eat there again.

Average food quality, slightly smaller buffet, average price, service & location.
I reluctantly give it 3 stars because they like 98% of the other Indian restaurants, hate to replenish the buffet.
Their buffet is from 12?-2pm. We got there at 1:15 and it looked pretty bare.

An unexpected gem

I'm a Castlegar native now living in Toronto. I make a point of coming here every time I visit. It's simply some of the best Indian food I've ever had and far better than some of the popular Indian restaurants in downtown Toronto.

I was visiting a good friend and another of her friends came to meet at Cuisine of India in Castlegar. Bean there - done that

One person's cuisine delight is another person's beans on a plate for the price on an entree. Add a protein and your wallet thinks that you went somewhere nice but your pallet is going, "Huh?" Some people really like the place but I don't get it.

AWFUL! GOOD service, BAD food

Big portions of the Worst food I've had in a LONG time. Might as well make some quality food at home. The only reason people come here is because there is nowhere else to eat in Castlegar. Go to Nelson.

great food

I frequently eat at the Cuisine of India, it is such a nice change from the other restaurants in the area. The food is always good and the portions a good size. Lots of choices. Staff are helpful and friendly.

My favourite local restaurant

Cuisine of India offers consistantly good food. I haven't tried everything on the menu as I can't resist having my favourites
(for instance eggplant bartha, spinach nan)! I don't eat out often but when I do, this is the place I prefer. The family based staff are friendly and the atmosphere most welcoming.

The surprise was inside

The outside of this gem of a restaurant is not much to look at but the food and the service was excellent. We will be back many more times. Absolutely loved it.

Excellent food and service

The service here is absolutely exceptional. The food was delicious and the portion was too much even for a big eater like myself. I would have taken the leftovers home but I am travelling so it made this a non option. I will stop by if in the area again.

best east indian food ever

We thoroughly enjoyed the quality of the food we ordered at Cuisine of India.
The flavour profile was complex and the portions generous. We both thought it was the best tasting East Indian food we've ever had. The restaurant was very clean and the service prompt. We will eat there again when in Castlegar.

We arrived near the end of the lunch smorg so things weren't looking quite as fresh as they probably did an hour previous but it was pretty good anyways. I don't visit Indian restaurants but made an exception and enjoyed my meal. friendly staff, good service, and a welcome change in dining

Consistently good

My favourite is their weekday buffet lunch. They consistently restock to keep things fish and hot.
I love their nan bread and love to have a Lassie (yogurt based drink) with my meal. The butter chicken is incredible. With larger groups its great to eat dinner off the menu - ordering and sharing different plates.

I like everything about this restaurant, excellent food, service, and over all experience. I go there for all my special occasions and will continue to do so. I especially love the leftovers the next day..just as yummy! Quick service too!!

Authentic India Cuisine

My friend and I were there to celebrate my birthday. We chose this restaurant because we both frequent it when we are wanting authentic India food. Their dishes are excellent, and the service is always friendly and efficient. It feels clean and well cared for this restaurant and I would recommend it over others in the area.

After many recommendations we finally had the opportunity to stop at Cuisine of India and were very pleased. The 'Dinner for 2' was excellent with many distinct flavours.... and we were full! The service was friendly and efficient. We'll be back!

Just Great

This family run place has been a blessing to the town - You are treated with such great respect when you go as well as amazing food - you gotta try their Butter Chichen - none better anywhere!

Exotic flavor

Love East Indian food. Always have! I find the menu to be satisfactory and so many different selections, but, I love the buttered chicken the most with rice and roti.

Delicious, authentic food

Price was very reasonable for the two of us. We really enjoyed the authentic food and atmosphere. My husband had never been to an indian restaurant, and he definitely enjoyed this introduction to indian cuisine!

Favorite restaurant in Castlegar

Excellent flavors. The food is delicious. We have dined in and taken food home (take-away) and have always been pleased. Generous portions and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Went here for dinner and it was great :) Went back for luch smorg - it was not so great :( Definatley liked the dinner better, and ordering off the menu. It was sooo good

Best Indian food in the Kootenays

Love, love, love Cuisine of India. I'm always happy with my food. It makes me excited to be travelling to Castlegar to get the chance to eat here again. So good!!

Indian buffet for a great price

We stopped in for lunch and were not disappointed. Not the best Indian Rest we have been too but good. We paid around 10$ (maybe alittle more) for the buffet.
Something for everyone, Week on salads and dessert. Oh well the rest made up for it.

Great Indian Food in the Mountains

This is a wonderful restaurant in Castlegar. I love Indian food and so, I had Palek Paneer and it was terrific.

Very nice

The lunch buffet is so good you should plan a nap after. Great food, friendly people and for a small town, a real gift.

Very good option in a monotonous town

They have a buffet at noon, with a very good Indian food. Not too spicy, it tastes fantastic.
In the evening they have à la carte options, which are really very good (namely the nams and the lamb tandoori).
Service is very fast and pleasant, performed by the wife of the owner, who I think is the cooker.

I live in Vancouver. I found this place on the way to Calgary was very pleased with it.We ordered Dinner for 2 with Lamb Curry Very Hot ,Butter Chicken and eggplant.The size was average but reasonable price. it was the best Indian food i ever had, no words how good it was. i wish i could eat there everynight!!

What a disappointment

After reading the other reviews we entered the Cuisine of India with great expectations.
We were shown to our table quickly and efficiently but that dinner only went downhill. My husband requested a 'hot' chicken curry, a request that was met with a blank stare. Food was poor, popadoms were a joke and service was mediocre.

If you are looking for a great home cooked Indian meal, this is the place. Great food, reasonable prices in a family run restaurant.
My favorites are Kashmiri Naan. Killer. Best naan bread around.
The eggplant bharta is exceptional as are the vegetable pakoras.

I live in Nelson and I'm obsessed with Indian curries. Needless to say, I've eaten at many curry houses and I make my own from scratch regularly, I eat here about once a week and I absolutely love the food.

Best Indian Restaurant - love it

Since finding this restaurant, we regularly drive 2 hours one way to eat here. The food is excellent (we order 4 meals and take 2 to go!) the staff are always friendly, polite and accommodating. I can't recommed this place enough, I just wish we lived closer!
