Real, authentic Cantonese and ridiculously cheap. Three can dine on the dinner for two and still have food to take home. The Cantonese chow mein is a winner and for $5.00, you can't beat the General Tao chicken. It's addictive. The hot and sour soup is perfect. They also do a great dim sum early in the day. Probably the best Chinese food west of Toronto (in southern Ontario). If that wasn't enough, there's plenty of parking behind the place.
I would give this place no star if I could. Whoever said this place is the most authentic for chinese food has not had authentic chinese food.
First off, service was horrendous. We sat down and no one gave us menus for the first 10 minutes until a server came and asked us if we had any. No one came to ask how the food was or if we needed anything such as a refill on our empty water glasses.

Sorry but this restaurant has fallen so far! Used to be my favourite Chinese restaurant and loved the dim sum. I just ordered a chicken fried rice. It was absolutely tasteless. And greasy. I ordered two egg rolls and they gave me spring rolls. It was take out so didn't know till I got home. Plus they have increased their prices. Going to try a new place. Sad..
My family and I have been going here since I was a kid. In recent times, the staff had been nothing but rude even coming up to my family to complain that we didn't give them enough tip. First of all, no one has to give you tip if they don't want to. If you wanted more tip, why don't you put a disclaimer in your menu that asks for a certain amount? Also, stop complaining about how you make... more
I had takeout from here a few nights ago and it was amazing. We got lots of food and all of it was fantastic. The food was ready quickly and the location of the store is very convenient. My favorite item that I got was the general Tao chicken. It was absolutely perfect. I had a fantastic experience here.
Offensive dining experience where we were blatantly ripped off by the servers who arbitrarily made up the total amount on the bill and over-wrote the prices on the menu and when asked to verify the pricing they were not interested in making it clear how a bill added up to $20 more than it should have been. Food wasn't even worth it anyways. Will never go back.
Worst experience ever. We got to the restaurant at around 12:40 pm, they first wanted to seat us in the worst table away from everyone, we told them we wanted to sit somewhere in the middle, we got a table, while ordering it took the food about 1.5 hours to come and that is with having to keep asking them when it is coming since they seemed to forget about us, the last thing we were waiting for... more
Not as good as the reviews say. Some of the dishes ordered were good some were terrible. Looks Iike I will be driving to Toronto again. I was hopeful.
This restaurant comes with bright red walls and carpets with black round tables scattered throughout. Washrooms looked old and floors were sticky.
There are specials listed on the wall near the counter in the back, mostly in chinese.
There are a couple dozen different dishes available for dimsum, with sizes split between S, M, L, XL, and XXL. Prices are ok: you're looking at about $3 to $4 per...

Came here for dimsum after hiking. Once more, the food was delicious without a doubt. Service though, was slow. The restaurant was clearly understaffed, and the 3 people working there were busy cleaning tables constantly. One of them at least was apologetic about being slow. We waited a while for the last dish to arrive, to be eventually told that it would take 15 mins to cook and if we still... more
This is a must. This place is constantly stepping up their game, my go to for dim sum and Chinese food.
I've had dim sum in Toronto, Markham, Vancouver, the Seattle area, Shanghai, Seoul, and Singapore. Oddly the best dim sum I've ever had was in a little hole in the wall place near the Seatac airport. Crystal Dynasty comes a very, very close second. No pretense to this place. They hit all the markers. Food gets to your table a bit slow and I'd wish they did the cart serve. But other than that,... more
Good to have some authentic Chinese dim sum in the Hamilton area. Service is super slow. But worth the wait.
Worst and slowest service ever. Our family went out with our grandma to this restaurant for Mother's Day and we waited over half an hour before we were able to order. After that, within the hour and a half that we were waiting for our food to come, we finished the three pots of tea that were given to us two hours ago and those were never refilled, which is usually standard for a Chinese... more
My husband and I had been here once before, for lunch. Tonight, we decided to take our parents out for dinner, to celebrate an early Mother's Day. The service was so horrible, the staff were so incredibly rude and we were completely embarrassed to have "treated" them to dinner at this "restaurant". I'm really not sure how they are able to continue to bring in the clientele with such poor... more
Having grown up in the Hamilton area, I know there are not a lot of great options for Chinese food. This definitely continues to be an example of the low standards which have been set.
Even under new ownership, they failed to impress. We had a group of 10 of us for lunch on a Sunday - we had to set the table ourselves. The food came incredibly slowly. We ordered a couple of dishes which we...

Visited again, quality is not the same and prices are higher, better go to Toronto area now that they got tons of Dim Sum places offer special deals, some before 11 AM, some all day.
Good place that runs the gambit from westernized to authentic southern Chinese. Excellent value for the money!
Food weren't fresh, taste water down, no taste at all. They had crab dumping, I ordered that to try. It was supposed to taste like crab, but I taste curry pork! Definitely will not come back.
Ordered delivery from here after reading positive Yelp reviews and am disappointed. We normally order from Thai Pho You but decided to try this place.
Dinner for 4 (a) took around an hour to be delivered and was okay. Nothing memorable, turned out to be like mall food court Chinese.
Too bad, I love dim sum and would only give this place another chance if I am dining in - for delivery this...

The food is alright but boy does the food take long to come out especially considering it's a chinese restaurant. The staff were a bit rude and impatient but that wasn't surprising. The best part was probably the price and the atmosphere was kind of nice if a little old-fashioned. We got the sweet and sour pork, beef and broccoli, and some fried fish dish. Everything was just OK... not good but... more
Last night we enjoyed take out at home with our daughter and family, tonight we are in the restaurant. Pictures of some of the dishes we had for the two of us were posted.
The portions are generous so we took some uneaten portions home in provided take out containers.
It is telling when the place has numerous clients of the same heritage. We consider that to be a good sign.
The restaurant...

My enjoyment here is very pleasurable everytime i go. Pros: cheap price : authentic tasting food : Simplicity of environment : Fast serviceCons: Slow service when packed : Waiters can be ignorant : Food sometimes rotten/freezer burn
This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. The plaza that the restaurant is in looks abandoned so to think of even stopping to try out this restaurant was one of the best decisions ever. This restaurant is definitely comparable if not better than a lot of dim sum places in Toronto and is my go to spot in Hamilton for dim sum.
The quality of the food is amazing for the price you are paying!...

Big portions, ethnic and decent food considering is in Hamilton. Great weekday special as well. Will definitely return
Best Chinese food ever!!!!!
Found this little gem tucked away in the Hammer. The esthetics of the place is nothing special but neither are most of the Chinese restaurants that I frequent on Spadina in Toronto.
Went for an early dinner and it wasn't busy at all so the service was good. Ordered the hot and sour soup, general tao chicken, beens and beef and finally the spicy shrimp. Everything...

Living in Burlington there aren't a lot of options when it comes to authentic Chinese. This little gem in Hamilton has Dim Sum that rivals ChinaTown in T.O.
I go here on sundays for my fix and it never disappoints. I love everything, the stick rice, spring rolls, shrimp & chive dumplings, shui mar... it's all good.
This is my "Go To" place to take friends and family for good, hot and reasonably priced Chinese food in Hamilton. Always a mix of people and the staff is friendly and helpful. I usually order the deluxe dinner for 2 and it is more than enough for 3 or even 4 people. If you are starving add one more... more
Good Dim-sum. Very fresh and reasonable. In general, you can't really expect great service at Chinese restaurants, which I don't care, I would prefer delicious food with not good service to so-so food with great service there.
The seafood and tofu soup was very good and so was the spicy fried eggplant dish. The shrimp and snowpeas dish was very succulent and fresh. The steamed bean curd with Chinese vegetables was soft and creamy but the vegetables were only but a few. Overall, I enjoyed the food and the endless supply of Green Tea! I will certainly... more
I ordered takeout. I found the food pretty salty and it was incredibly expensive for what they gave us. There's better chinese in the city for sure.
Dim sum : ) Shrimp dumplings, xiao long bun and other Cantonese food. I love the spring rolls and steamed pork ribs
Went for dinner with friends here last night and had a fantastic meal! The salty shrimp was the highlight of the meal. I could have eaten another 5 plates of those! Service was great, food came out as it was ready, steaming hot, crisp vegetables and very flavourful. Will definitely be back!
If you are looking for authentic Chinese food where you can order several different dishes and each has it's own unique flavour then this is the place for you. If you are looking for great value this is also a great find. Four of us ate here last night and had three beers, a wine and six dishes for a... more
Came here for dim sum in the summer and everything I ate tasted bad. As far as I could tell, it was bad-tasting frozen dim sum that they unfreeze when you order. There are some frozen dim sum that actually taste OK after you steam it, but don't expect it here... Not that I really want to have frozen dim... more
Woah wait a minute could it be that some of the best Dim Sum I have had outside of Hong Kong could really be in Hamilton and not in Toronto or Richmond Hill? I know what you are thinking "Say it ain't so!". Take it from a guy who has eaten Dim Sum in Hong Kong, Vancouver, Calgary, Victoria at at least 25 Dim Sum restaurants around the GTA alone when I say that yes this place is easily up there... more
Chinese wor wonton, pan fried pork dumplings, Szechuan shrimp, Garlic Beef with onion and ginger, fried noodle with beef and satay sauce. All of the orders were excellent and the portions are very generous. They do not spare gwai-lo the regular spice level. food here is excellent and executed very well but the service is atrocious. not only are the staff not friendly or even remotely courteous they are down right rude

Staff prepares genuine Chinese dishes - on a comprehensive menu - and I get confused! So you must ask for help, and they will definitively tell you what is great, and not so much. Servings are very generous, dishes mostly contain solid blends of vegetables and meats, excellently seasoned, great variety. This is not pretentious, nor bright red and plastic... more
Being cantonese we have eaten a lot of dim sum and wanted to find a new place in Hamilton. Sadly this certainly was not the place.

Delicious and very fresh! There were 6 of us so we ordered the Dinner for 6 option.
The first dish was the wonton soup, which was actually individually served to us out of the main bowl by the waitress. It was also one of the best wonton soups I've ever enjoyed.
The egg rolls were perfectly cooked as well as the chicken balls -- made with chunks of chicken breast and house-made cherry...

We are accustomed to enjoying authentic Mandarin and Szechuan cuisine at restaurants frequented by natives of these regions. Our first hint was probably that the guests were all non-orientals. Lobster is the best (but sometimes don't taste as good), others are only average!
The dim sum is average, and so is the majority of their menu according to typical Cantonese cuisine. Combine that with unnecessarily rude and arrogant waiting staff make for a restaurant that I will never step into willingly ever again, unless threatened at gunpoint.
their dim sum isn't the best..and that's all i've really had there.
Crystal Dynasty Chinese Restaurant offers these services: chinese food, restaurant.
