A great selection, knowledgeable and friendly staff. You don't need to be a foodie to enjoy all the delicious offerings at this store. But if you are a big cheese head like myself (I don't know if that's a real term), then you will be in heaven. Lots of choose from, and the team there will gladly help you choose something to suit your palette. Highly recommend that you check out this company.
Very extensive range of cheeses to cater to any pallet topped off with excellent customer service.
solid little source for a rather decent offering of cheeses in the GTA. considering the size of the shop i was quite impressed with the amount of variety they had. the owner & staff were happy to make recommendations and offer samples to get you what you're looking for.
they also offer paninis made to order (you pick the bread/spread/cheese), for $7.99 - didn't give it a try this time around... more
We won a gift card for this store, and for some time meant to try it, but kept putting it off. That was our mistake, because once we entered this store we fell in love with the it.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and were wonderful in interacting with my children. The range of cheese is fantastic, and we were told that they can order in special cheeses if they didn't have in stock... more
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Huge selection of cheeses from Europe and North America. You can sample them all.
They also have nice gifts like hand carved cheese trays and make great panini sandwiches.
Nice to have a great cheese shop in Durham region.
I wanted a selection of different types of cheese. The staff took the time to help me make selections and offered a variety of options with samples. All the staff were patient with my busy toddler and fussy baby. I have an excellent assortment of new cheeses for my extended family and I to try and had every question answered... more
Over the years being in sales, I am always looking for something different to express my thanks to my customers. Upon meeting with Marlene Turcotte @Country Cheese Corporate Sales and Service, I am excited that they will be receiving a special gift this year. I explained to Marlene the budget I was looking for , and she met my needs.... more
Stopped by to see what this place is... and bought a couple packages of cheese. Definitely a cheese specialty shop. The owner was very patient and informative and offered samples of any cheese there. I learned about how much I don't know about cheese! Impressive variety and they have sandwiches, too.
While this is listed under restaurants, it's not really a restaurant. They do have sandwiches and things, but they are a great cheese specialty shop.
Finally, a cheese specialty shop in Durham! Sure, there are deli's and grocery stores that have OK cheese selections. But you're not going to find Pecorino Balsamico from Italy or Wine Rind Cheese from Spain... more
I'm lactose-intolerant but visited the store to buy a gift for a friend. I was pleasantly surprised to discover some lactose-free cheeses, and was then informed that I could eat and digest many of the cheeses in stock because of their naturally low lactose content. This was a revelation to me, and am thrilled to confirm that it is true.... more
What a great shop -- so many cheese choices -- and even some amazing tasting low fat versions The staff are fabulous, so friendly, patient and knowledgable
the applewood smoked cheddar, roasted garlic mozzarella and carmelized onion cheddar are amazing.
Being lactose intolerant and going into a cheese shop is a bit of a death wish. However, walking into Country Cheese Company was far from it. Yes, they have an amazing assortment of cow's milk cheeses but the variety they have for those like me was amazing and exciting. Imagine being able to have cheese again that's not fake!
Not only were there lactose free options but also sheep and goat's... more
I met the owner and affineur on the set of a Rogers show, Know it All. I was the floor director that day and chatted with them before the show. They are lovely people and I ate quite a bit of samples of everything after the show. They are true food artists and have come up with the most remarkable... more
My husband and I recently discovered this place thanks to Trip Advisor. The cheese, like any other cheese shop, isn't cheap but it's not overpriced. The sandwiches are very good although I do wish they had a selection of deli meats. Even if only 2 or 3 to choose from.
I was told about this shop by friends of mine that raved about it and I just had to see it for myself. It reminds me of shops I visited while travelling in Italy. I had a cheese panini for lunch and it was superb. I had to stop myself from buying some of everything.
If you are having a... more
Not only is there high quality cheese and a wide selection, the staff are super-friendly and helpful, giving advice and samples. It is great to have such a fine shop in Ajax.
I was so happy I finally noticed Country Cheese Company and went in last Sunday. The ladies behind the counter were all very friendly and helpful, and were willing to answer any questions I had and let us sample a few of their best sellers.
I agree with some of the other posters that it is pricey, but to be... more
Going into Country Cheese Company is always a fun experience. Tammy (the owner) is so lovely and always has something new to try.
Such a great asset to the durham region!
Very pleasant staff and wonderful cheese choices. A bit goes a long way so choose carefully. There is a blue cheese with red wine and cranberries(I think). I buy a "smidgen" ( $5 - $6 ) and make it go a looooong way. My husband loves it so I have to ration it!!
Certainly a good addition to the Durham region. The cheese selection is good and products are fresh. However, prices are excessive. For that reason, I will not be visiting them again. Some products are over $40 /kg more than other places... more
I bought my wife a great cheese platter from here for valentines day that consisted of some chocolate dipped strawberries, a fabulous old cheddar in a heart shaped wax mold and my choice of two other cheeses including a caramelized onion cheese that was just out of this world!!! My wife loved her gift and we will definitely be coming... more
While I did have one of their tasty sandwiches and enjoyed it thoroughly, the experience of tasting different cheeses and then selecting new ones to take home to share with my wife is by far the best part of the visit. The ladies are very knowledgeable, extremely pleasant and helpful and really a joy to talk to about cheese and... more
Met Tammy, the owner when she first opened up. What a pleasure it is to shop here! Finally a quality cheese shop close to home.
Best thing is, if she doesn't have it, she will find it and order it in.
Highly recommended. Lots of special events and wine pairing nights too.
I visited today for the first time and walked away with a number of excellent cheeses. These gals really know their stuff and have locally-sourced (YEAH!!!) cheeses as well as a good choice of Canadian and imported varieties. I especially liked their British Cheddars. Try the one from Wales...amazing!
Finally - we don't have to travel to the markets in Toronto to get great cheese. What a surprise when you walk in the door - setting done well, staff that know what they are talking about and pleased to share their knowledge. They want you to try it all and this attitude had me buying more than I had... more
Great selection of cheese and very friendly staff. Try before you buy - it's encouraged. We did not try the sandwiches but they looked and smelled great. We used to go to the St Lawrence Market or to Leaside to get our cheese. This place is just as good but way closer, and with free parking. Great find in Durham!
The cheese selection is amazing. While it may be overwhelming at first if you are not a cheese connoisseur, the staff is more than willing to share their vast knowledge of their products. Ranging from the origins of the cheese to the varying production methods to food and wine pairing the ladies are a delight to work with.
Looks like... more
Just sampled my "Valentine's Day" order for my husband and me! Wonderful presentation of 3 different cheeses (two in the shape of a heart), and chocolate covered strawberries on an artisan cheese board! Something different for Valentines Day - a great idea! Thank you Country Cheese Country! We will be back!
This quaint location is a great cheese paradise for any cheese lover. The personalized service and with attention to details make this company one of my favorites. My drive to downtown Toronto in no more for cheese and with that savings, I can purchase more cheese:).
I just discovered this little gem of a store and already I'm a big fan. I used to travel into the city to get great cheese, but no more. Though they are relatively new, they carry a very impressive selection. I was greeted warmly and the lady helped me choose some really interesting cheeses based on my tastes. Friendly, attentive,... more
I recently found an amazing new Artisan Cheese store in Ajax. The friendly, knowledgeable staff has introduced me to a world of Canadian Artisan cheeses that I never knew existed. I sat down for lunch, as they serve wonderful grilled cheese sandwiches and learned about their cheeses. I ordered a cheese board for a dinner that I was hosting and... more
Sweet find local artisan cheese in Ajax !!
I saw this place right next to the 401 so I had no choice but to stop. Found some great Ashley Goat and Comfort Cream (maple smoked) both recommended for the venue - went over extremely well at the wine party,,
Tammy the proprietor was very knowledgeable and helpful....
We will be back !!!
Thank You CCC..
