A real Ottawa classic. Can't miss with the original Colonnade.
Good pizza!! First one I've had where the cheese is on the top. Crispy cheese, nice dining area, wait staff is good - better than other sit down pizza places. This isn't a grab 'n go - it's more of a sit down.
Great pizza. A bit different from what I'm used to (it's layered with crispy cheese) but it's delicious. Definitely worth it.
Sorry, but I have to give this place a single star. I have a son in a wheelchair. We were in Ottawa for an appointment at CHEO. Needing to go get some dinner, we heard about this place. Called to ask if it was wheelchair accessible. I was told it was. It wasn't! There was no automatic door operators. My son needed to use the washroom. The men's washroom had two stalls, none of which could... more
Crispy cheese, all the way to the edge. Best in Ottawa, beats Gabriel's by a narrow margin.
Colonnade Pizza, the Metcalfe site, still offers the best pizza in Ottawa. I love the fact that they offer a "personal" size pizza, perfect for me. Normally in most restaurants, my husband and I share a medium pizza, but at the Colonnade Pizza, I can get the personal size at a reasonable cost, so I can choose my own toppings.... more
We ordered a Combo and a Vegetarian. Both were piping hot and delicious. Some of us have been going to the Metcalfe Street site since its opening in1967 - 47 years of great pizzas !
My favorite pizza in Ottawa! All about the food. Nothing fancy. Just a great tasty pizza. Went with my two sons today for lunch. It was their first time there and they absolutely loved the meat lovers pizza. Very fast service - about 10 minutes to get our food. Can be quite busy on week-ends but service remains fast and... more
I have one word to say Excellent! Perfectly made to order,no fancy seating arrangements. Fast service and good prices. Have never been disappointed.
We go at least once a year for pizza at the Colonnade. Have been going there for years and years. Our recent visit confirmed that is still the best pizza in Ottawa. The pizza had a very good crust with delicious cheese going right to the edge of the crust. Very tasty! The Italian salad was not as flavorful as... more
The Colonnade restaurant has been an Ottawa fixture since the 60's - not much has changed inside including the best pizza in Town! Service is excellent and the prices reasonable. This is pizza heaven - the way pizzas should be done!
Food: everybody liked their meals, either pasta or pizza, and desserts.
Atmosphere: pretty crowded and noisy. It's not obvious but there is free parking at the back. (I got scared off by the mechanical arm and wasted $4 paying at another lot.)
Service: our waiter was good
Price: average
Overall: I would return.
We were having a particularly hectic day at work, with no hope of a lunch break, so a coworker ordered a pizza from Colonnade. We are downtown and it arrived within a half hour at most. I quickly grabbed a piece and was highly impressed by the crust, copious toppings, and perfect amount of sauce and cheese. You'd expect a... more
I had never been there before and thought I would give it a try. Well I will not be going back after this experience. For a place that has been in business since 1967 you would think they would know how to make good pizza. Not the case here on Bank street anyway. It was disgusting, and all the edges... more
We frequently pick up pizza from this location as it has very good gluten-free options. However, I will not be doing that much longer unless the service improves at this location. It is very good service at the Merivale location that we also use. At the Metcalfe location, the man who works the front desk is unfriendly and surly. For... more
On an Ottawa friend's recommendation I walked 20 minutes from my hotel in the rain to have supper here. It certainly was worth it. I was surprised how large a dining area it had and being met by an older Italian lady to show me to a seat was extraordinary. I ordered a coffee and a Mediterannian personal pizza. The... more
Had pizza last night that cost $30 because it was gluten free. The crust was awful and the bacon was minced instead of strips. I used to love colonnade, but in my opinion it has gone downhill.
Excellents Pizzas. I found in the internet this place and said that is best place of Pizzas. I recomend the burguer Pizza it is delicious
I found the service unfriendly. We ordered the pepperoni, mushroom, green pepper pizza it was made with the toppings under the cheese, I personally don't like it this way, as I like my toppings cooked on top. I found the taste under-ordinary, couldn't taste the flavor of the pepperonni nor the cheese. It is a thinner crust pizza, and was... more
We used to go here weekly in high school and then through university, as they have one of the best pizzas in town (I used to like The Prescott pizzas too, but haven't been there in a while). Thankfully, things haven't changed that much over the years. It's still a great place to go. Always friendly service. Casual & inviting.... more
A few colleagues said this place had the best pizza in town so I had to try it. Nice quiet location with lots of seating space, indoor and outdoor. The personal Santa Fe pizza I had was delicious, with just the right amount of cheese. Looking forward to trying other selections there.
Loved this cute family run business. Friendly staff fast service and great prices. Pizza was very different from the cardboard chain pizza.
Colonnade City Pizza on St. Joseph Boulevard, Orleans. It seems that it may not be part of the Colonnade Pizza and Restaurant; if it is not, then Colonnade should not allow them to use such a similar name. It was good pizza, not the best. BUT the service:
We ordered before 7:00 and phoned at 8:10 to enquire about its...

Was at the Colonnade 3 years ago, and my main goal was to return! It is by far the best pizza ever: very generous with their toppings, and the top of the pizza is made with different types of cheeses, forming a broiled golden crust to bite into. I cannot even begin to describe it, but know that I am... more
Growing up in Ottawa, and visiting frequently throughout my career, I've found the Colonnade to make the very best pizza almost anywhere. This family restaurant has a wide variety of menu choices, but its specialty is thick crust pizza. From the delicious and zesty tomato sauce, its sumptuously doughy crust, and a multitude of toppings, a Colonnade pizza is topped... more
I recent ate at the Ottawa South location.
I have a tomato allergy, they asked what kind of sauce I would like instead. I chose the alfredo and it was delicious. Not too much sauce, and they did not charge extra for the switch - an experience I've had at other restaurants.
The staff was friendly, the atmosphere relaxed.
I used to order pizza from here allllllllll the time! The pizza was so fluffy and delicious, the sauce was thick and juicy, and the toppings were sliced to perfection!! What a great family business! My friend's grandfather started it ages ago!
Not fancy. Warm reception. Family business. Greasy salty pizza, in a good way. Chewy crust. Never changes, this place, but although outdated, it feels good inside and the service, although not polished, is honest and welcoming.
I think the title says it all
we ordered the special Mediterranean pizza with black Olives, artichokes and fetta cheese.
and it was fabulous, wow (: (:
I never take a trip to Ottawa without stopping into the Colonnade Pizza & Restaurant for a pizza.
I have tried elsewhere, but, for me, The Colonnade is the best.
The restaurant is very clean and the staff is friendly. Prices are reasonable, too.
Went there with a group from work, glad we had reservations, tables where full at 6pm. It has a large open dining room, decor is vey simple. Waitress might have been having an off night, at out table of 8, 3 people didn't get what they ordered, thought that was pretty high. But she did try to rectify things when... more
This place has no pretence. The food speaks for itself. Excellent pizzas for a variety of preferences, good salad, "nothing fancy" dining so ditch the tie and take the kids.Staff are patient, helpful and friendly. Our third visit in three years.
The Colonnade on Metcalfe Street downtown is an Ottawa institution. It is your classic unpretentious pizza joint, although the sit down area is pleasant and family friendly.
What Montrealers call all-dressed (cheese, mushroom, pepperoni, peppers) is called "combination" in Ottawa and it is no exception here. The pizza is quite thick, with very generously applied toppings. It comes out hot and...

Not my thing, but for what it is , it is good. Visitors and those new to Ottawa should beware:This is Ottawa style pizza, which means bready, fluffy crust and a mound of cheese over all the toppings, including the meat. This means that each slice is heavy and greasy as the pepperroni etc.. stay almost uncooked underneath. I really... more
The Colonnade pizza restaurant on Bank Street in the Blue Heron Mall is not the original but is just about as good! The pizza is consistently delicious, served remarkably quickly, and delicious with lots of toppings on a hearty crust. Somehow they get it just right every time. If you save room , the desserts are also delicious - especially... more
Ottawa has a very distinct take on pizza: thick white crust and an inch of cheese seems to be the status quo. If that's your thing, then Colonnade is for you. I'm not a huge fan of the Ottawa style of pizza, so i can't give Colonnade more than 3 stars. But, if I were a fan of Ottawa-style pizza,... more
They don't deliver but eat-in and pick up is definitely worth it. Though they have more than pizza on their menu, the pizza is the draw for me.
Very good Pizza. The Colonnade Restaurant is an institution in Ottawa and I recommend it any chance I get.
Its been quite a while since we have eaten at Colonnade Pizza but it used to be a favorite many years ago in downtown Ottawa. We decided to try their location on Bank Street and have been sorely disappointed a few times now. They had their last chance this week when we ordered a pizza with bacon that arrived smoked... more
Great pizza joint that has a bit of an old-time feel to it, but in such a good way. Friendly service - they'll make you feel like a regular! - and more importantly, excellent pizza.
It's true that their pizza is terrific, especially the Mediterrenean. The restaurant has a large dining room, but a sweet atmosphere and charming service. But it is the coffee that is extraordinary - lots of rich coffee flavour, a little trip to Europe in a cup! Go for the pizza stay for the coffee.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this busy little restaurant,Been coming here since our son started at Carleton U. Cant wait to bring the kids for the MAY 24 weekend!
This place has been doing it's thing consistently well for many years now and many Ottawa residents (myself included) swear it's the best pizza in town. It's about 10 blocks from my office, but when my colleagues and I need to order food in for lunch or because we'll be working late, it's a very popular choice...I've long suspect that... more
I love the pizza here & have loved it for 28 years. It is always our go to place for pizza or lunch. The staff are friendly.
The Colonnade Pizza & Restaurant serve the best food in Canada. I have many good memories with family and friends. Great fun and the best pizza!
Pizza wonderful!!! Great dishes like chicken fingers and fries, salads, pasta. Everything you order is just made to perfection. Staff is friendly and really helpful when you have trouble deciding.
Colonnade has some of the best tasting pizza in Centertown, maybe in all of Ottawa. It is also one of the more expensive options with a large, 15 inch pizza, costing between $20-30 depending on toppings.
The ingredients taste fresh, with none of the chemically taste that you get at Pizza Pizza. The cheese is plentiful and the crust is crisp. My biggest complaints about the pizza is that it's...

Not for those who love thin crust. Best for cheesy and chewy pizza! Great lunch place or family night out.
Best Pizza in Ottawa BAR NONE......we visit atleast once a month. If you want Pizza this is the place....nothing fancy but good pizza.
What is "Ottawa-Style" pizza (OSP)? I'll do my best to describe it. Perhaps I'll start by saying what it is not: thin crust, designer pizza that is light on cheese and toppings. OSP generally has a fuller crust and is not shy with the cheese. The cheese is usually on top and cooked to a nice golden brown.
I love...

My husband visits Ottawa more often than me so he told me about this pizza and said it was the best ever. Of course I was doubtful until I tried it myself. I must say- it's the best pizza I've ever had and we make our own pizza at home. We love this stuff. Not sure why it's so good-... more
Most locals I know consider this the best pizza in town. Family owned, and it shows. Staff is attentive, friendly (as are the owners - the parents have been there as long as I can remember). Amazing how their food is consistently good, and now my grandchildren agree that that this is their favourite pizza place by far.
first visit with a friend from ottawa. one the main floor of an office building.
ordered a single pizza for myself and was surprised how large a serving it was.
have recommended it to friend who live within walking distance of it -- one can't go wrong with this choice.
If you want a good Pizza this is the place to go. I liked the fact that there are other options for those that are lactose intolerant and that there is a comfortable dining area
First time was in about 1969 -- when it was pizza and hot chocolate with a sweetie. Still get pizza there these days. Quality ingredients and good pizza.
A great family restaurant - the kids will feel at home. The prices are reasonable, the menu is varied - - but the pizza is the best in town! We also regularly pick up to take home (they do not deliver). In restaurant, we also love the zuchinni sticks for an apetizer, with thegarlic lemon dip. Mmmm! The place makes... more
Food great pizza the best, italian food gslore great service, this restaurant is slways busy. Find a place to sit and be amazed at great food.
Not only is this my favourite pizza joint in the city, it's my favourite restaurant in the city, and the best tasting pizza I've EVER HAD, and I've lived in six cities. I don't know what they do to their pizza, but it's amazing. I usually get the meat lover's or a combination.
They do not deliver.
Still my favorite pizza joint in Ontario. The colonnade is a great big greasy pie filled with flavourful cheese, toppings, and a nice thick crust. It's a great break from the ubiquitous thin crust "authentic" pizza that's everywhere else. If I want authentic pizza, I'll get it in naples, thank you very much.
The rest of the time, I'll enjoy this consistently good, north american style pizza...

I have traveled throughout Canada and this may be the nation's BEST pizza. Anyone honestly telling you it's "not that great" just shouldn't be trusted. I haven't tried their other dishes but the pizza is absolutely fantastic. A trip to Colonnade is usually my first priority when I visit Ottawa.
We ordered two pizzas...one cheese only and one Mediterranean. The mediterranean wasn't anything special, but the cheese was The. Best. Ever. No exaggeration. Don't know what it was, but the flavor and texture were perfect. Order the cheese, you won't regret it.
One of the best pizza in Ottawa! Load with topping and happiness!! Love love their meat lover pizza! The only downside is usually feel really guilty after eating there. So good that it's hard to stop eating :(
A lot of people rave about this place but honestly it's not that great. With the limited options in Ottawa I understand the love for this place but it doesn't hold up to good pizza in other cities. It's not even the best place in town in my opinion.
The first time I tried it I thought wow that's not bad but I think it was different more than anything. The second visit I realized how greasy the...

Despite all the reviews that have been raving about this place, I completely disagreed that this is "Ottawa's Best Pizza" ... but then I thought about it a little more, and I couldn't name a better pizza place in Ottawa. How sad is that!?!?
The pizza had its high points and low points. Good crust, the toppings were both fresh and fantastic, but the something about the sauce or bread just had...

This place for me feels more like a normal place for pizza. Nothing to really write about. Nothing special here...I try something else.
Let's tour my new pizza rating system:
CRUST TEXTURE: Thick - a soft/chewy/doughy crust with a crisp bottom - usually the cheese leaks down the sides of the crust, ALL THE WAY AROUND. Overflow of crispy baked cheese goodness. There is literally NO bare crust visible on this pizza.
CRUST FLAVOUR: Tastes natural. No weird chemical/preservative aftertaste. The crispy cheese wrapped around it...

I found this place to be pretty good pizza for the money. Not amazing, but a more "Montreal style" pizza than anything else I can think to compare it to. The "small pizza" is just right for me, an "individual" would have been to small. The large looked big enough to share for about 2-3 people depending on the eaters. So for $15 I was satisfied.
The onion rings were quite nice as well......

Horrible experience the other night...
I'll start off by saying that I think this is probably the most overrated Pizza joint in town. Like others mention, there is way too much cheese and the pizza is too greasy. Greasy to the point where the whole center of pizza just flops down because there is too much grease on the bottom of the pizza, like the crust part.
That being said, I was with some...

Best pizza I've had in years, possibly ever. Pizza topped with sliced tomatoes = not soggy; incredible.
I LOVE this place! I've eaten at so many pizza places that I can't even remember, but this one is simply unforgettable. My boyfriend and I walked into the restaurant and sat ourselves. We ordered bruschetta to start and a personal pizza each for lunch on a Friday - his was the Meat Lovers and mine was the Mediterranean. Though the decor is completely outdated, a bit drab, and there isn't very... more
This has the potential to be great pizza...but, they put WAY too much cheese on! I love cheese, but this regular pie had a literally sickening amount of cheese on it. I can't imagine who would like this. Awesome crust and sauce, great ambiance in the restaurant but please cut back on the cheese. If I ever go back I will ask for 1/4 the amount of cheese they regularly slather on!!!
The pizza was drenched in cheap cheese-- like eating a flap of deep fried cheese. The pizza here will appeal to those who like junk food-- the pizza is mostly tasteless, becomes soggy and oily with the cheese overload. Foodies be warned.
I always love taking visitors to Ottawa here. The service is down to earth, the pizza is excellent and price is good. Try any one of their pizzas. All good.
There's very little I have to say about this place other than: it's the best pizza in Ottawa! Go! GO! The toppings are fresh, they put a heap of cheese on their pizza and the overall quality is incredible. Unfortunately, their prices are high ($20-$25 for a large pizza). Also, I hate that they don't have delivery. If you want to experience Colonnade you either have to eat in at one of their... more
