Though I just stayed for a few hours in this hotel, I can say my overall stay was good. The reception was good, staff were very friendly and hospitable. I felt safe in the hotel while traveling as a Single that matters. I had asked for a Taxi service and it was so quick and very well maintained cabs. The positive points were the free airport shuttle which is very comfortable for travelers and the... more
Everything was perfect, the service was excellent, the food was very good.
rooms are clean but very dated. T.V.'s are old CRT's most hotels have flat screens now. Clean up staff was good and didn't miss anything. Some of the front desk staff was a bit aloof but others were open and friendly.
The Good: - Room was clean - Beautiful view from the seventh floor - It's in a fairly good area; close to shops. - Horizon Bistro is delicious and the staff is friendly. The Bad: *** THE FRONT STAFF IS EXTREMELY RUDE; - Came a little early; woman at the front desk scoffed at my friend and I that our... more
Have stayed and worked at this hotel, but not for several years. However, after this experience, it's like time stood still. The decor and fixtures are looking a bit tired. We were in Calgary during a large trade show, so paid a large premium for the room, which makes it hard to justify good value for the money. Positives: -... more
Shuttle service is advertised like it is a big amenity but it is the worst service I have ever experienced -- don't advertise something you have no intention of fulfilling. Rooms are dingy and old, housekeeping does not change linens and towels even when you ask them to, food in restaurant is terrible. I was here for a business meeting... more
Stayed here Jan 09/2010 and the hotel is great. Shuttle service is good to the airport but if you get in after eight at night be prepared for a hazzle to get back. I arrived at nine at night and when I phoned for the shuttle they told me he went home for the night and I would have to... more
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights while in town for a wedding (which was taking place in the conference centre downstairs - very convenient for us!). I'll be honest - the hotel was a little dated, but this was no problem whatsoever for us. The rooms were very spacious, clean, and had everything we needed (iron, coffee maker,... more
I was motivated to write my review after reading the previous traveller's comments. We just had our annual Christmas Party at the Coast Plaza Hotel and if I could sum it up in just one word it would be AMAZING! The service and food were without compare and I was told at a very competitive price. Check in was fast... more
Paid for a premium suite... 5 days with no hot water in the morning. All calls and complains were ignored, I ended up taking showers at the pool downstairs. Food at the restaurant downstairs is terrible and overpriced, especially the breakfasts, so bland and tasteless. Overall the place was old and worn down, not a nice place to stay. No... more
This hotel met all our expectation. The price was reasonable, the services were good, and we all as a family were satisfied in this trip.
Well..I came with a Dad, a younger brother, and two uncles for the Calgary Stampede. It's only by luck and chance, after an hour of finding a hotel, and groaning at frustration at all those that are all filled out, did I find this nice hotel! When I checked in, the receptionist was so helpful and cheerful that I was... more
Arrived late from the airport having had difficulty finding the hotel. Poor location, inconvenient for anything except fast food joints. Average reception staff. Dated hotel, but clean. Had a room on the 3rd floor- noisy, random young men in the hallway, and noise all night from passing people - terrible for our young children. No safe. Went down with the... more
If waiting for a room upon arrival is your thing, then stay here! I've traveled quite a bit over my years, and have never seen a hotel charge you to go to another part of the hotel. So not only do you pay 140$ per room...they will try and snag another 7$ to go the adjoining club. Rip off? I... more
Never again. There was no heat in the room. Turn up the thermostat and then the fan and you get cold air. We were a late checkin and so at did not want to change rooms. Kept thinking the heat would come on. It didn't. Unbelievable. At checkout I complained. I think they've heard this before. They gave us a... more
For starters, at the time of check in, I had a card for corporate discounts and was told to produce this card upon check out, and the rate was suppose to be 76.00 plus tax, a few days later I was called to the front desk and was asked to pay for the first 3 nights, and she (Front desk... more
After reading some of the other reviews, there are some things that make me laugh. The decor of this hotel is outdated (even though everything looks fresh). It's one thing that surprises me about the so-called 'New World' - how much 'older' it looks than Hotels in Dubai or Bahrain. Anyway, I've stayed at this Hotel three times now. The... more
The room was extemely dirty (scum on the shower and jacuzzi tap), jacuzzi was dirty, stuff had been spilt on the walls, and table chairs as well as the coffee tables being really dirty. there was wood chips on the table cloth (???). After telling the manager and employee at the front desk they were very rude about it. internet was not working, called the front desk 4 times with no response. ... more
Our stay at the Coast Plaza in Calgary was quite uncomfortable. For starters, they turn their main boiler off for the summer. The weather was cool and we had no heat in our rooms. It was so cold in our room in the morning, that the thermostat was not even registering. Since the boiler was off the hot tub is... more
We stayed 2 nights at the hotel arriving from Buffalo via Minneapolis, late in the evening and were met met with smiling reception staff. Check in was fast and efficient, the staff even suggested we go check out the Indian wedding that taking place in one of the function rooms!! Very colourful. The rooms we big, bright and airy just... more
Arriving early I found out I had a bit of a wait for my room. I had lunch in the restaurant. Food there was basic but tasty and reasonably priced. Especially the breakfast buffet. Great deal. Then they stored my baggage while I went for a walk in the area. A couple of malls close buy 1 a quick C... more
While doing a roadshow in Canada we had the misfortune of being booked into this hotel. Now the hotel itself wasn't that bad, though was way over priced compared to other higher rated hotels in Canada, but the staff on the front desk were shocking. The one gentleman on the front desk did his best to assist but the two... more
Book a "premium" room for a higher floor and perhaps a better range of amenities. My 12th floor corner room was spacious and had a few upscale touches- a wide variety of bathroom amenities, an inexhaustible supply of bottled water and chocolate mints, a paperback Calgary guidebook, and a business centre on the desk with paperclips, highlighter, etc. Internet access... more
We were worried after reading some reviews here but were happy when we got there. The staff were friendly. We stayed on the 12 floor in a nice sized room. The restaurant was excellent. The hotel was close to tons of restuarant (olive garden, the keg, red lobster), to name a few. Great time and will be back next stay... more
Stayed for 3 nights on a recent roadtrip from Calgary to Vancouver. Booked through a promotional special which included complete buffet breakfast at a great price for summer in Calgary. After reading some of the reviews here, I was a little worried about the location, age, and condition of the hotel. From the outside, the building does look like a... more
all staff did there best. airport pick up did not take too long. room was clean and larger than I though.
A large group of us stayed at this hotel for two nights in January and received a fair group rate. The hotel is located somewhat near the airport and is quite far from downtown Calgary. The staff were accommodating, the rooms were a decent size, nicely decorated, and very clean. The hotel has many amenities including a pool, hot tub,... more
Booked here by company for brief overnight stay. Checkin was efficient, if somewhat aloof, service-wise... Once we headed for our rooms, the elevators were first clue to an overall "showing age" theme that would prevail. Our arrival in the hall was met first by the smell of old food and then a hallway with several old dinner trays laying about... more
This dreary hotel as benn recently rennovated. Why did they decorate it in 1970's ugly decor? I would not stay here again as there are many airport area hotels including a brand new Staybridge Suites (I love brand new hotels). This property is just OK.
I wouldn't stay here again. For the price we paid it wasn't really worth it. It took them over 20 minutes to check us in and they were not friendly at all. We requestd a non-smoking room and the front desk supervisor/manager said to her employee - tell them we don't gurantee that it a rather snotty attitude. 1) she... more
Secend stay here, this time for a convention. Free parking and internet in rooms, and a free business center. Buffets in restaurant are excellent value. Rooms are large and adequate. This a 3 to 3.5 star hotel. Would recommend for visiting families and tourists who do not wish to be downtown. The only downside is it's almost too far to... more
We spent 2 weeks at this hotel in July 05. The rooms were clean and well equipped. The staff friendly and helpful. Not much to do in the hotel and too far away from most things just to pop out for a drink or a bite to eat in the evening. To get to downtown we had to walk across... more
A basic hotel - recommended for business travellers only. Not a lot going on. Clean basic rooms. However, it had complimentary high speed internet access. Room service a bit disappointing too. Staff extremely friendly too - except for a stuck - up concierge (the older one).
This was our first hotel stay in Canada. It is good value for money, the rooms were clean well equipted and plenty big enough. The pool was lovely and not busy at all. Food in the bar was excellent and had friendly staff. The airport link was quick.
Nice, clean, comfortable hotel. The pool, whirlpool, and sauna are nice. The location is okay, it's right next to the cheap movie theatre.
