Subjects loyal to "Vancouver's prince of pasta", Pino Posteraro, "stare in amazement" at the open kitchen at this Yaletown Italian–Med while savouring the mix of "creative and traditional" plates that issues from it; "outstanding" wines, "exceptional" (some say "a bit pretentious") service and a "lovely" earth-toned dining room, plus a more casual enoteca next door, add to the pleasure, so... more
Consistency is underrated in our fad-happy age. This Yaletown room has been the gold standard for more than 10 years. Chef Pino Posteraro runs it with military precision, ensuring that every bowl of his peerless spaghetti alle vongole ($30) is exactly al dente, each portion of roasted scallops with tomato confit and artichokes ($22.95) perfectly drizzled with preserved winter truffle... more
Bourdain's buddy Chef Pino Posteraro is a dedicated, decorated seducer of Yaletown's most sophisticated palates, mixing Mediterranean with local, coaxing together eclectic flavors and textures that suddenly can't seem to live without each other, like scallops, pineapple and pureed almonds. From butternut squash to beef cheeks, pasta couldn't be more perfect, but pretty much everything is,... more
I was there on the 16th with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. The service was impeccable and the sommelier was very helpful with our wine selection. The osso bucco and pappardelle with veal cheek and porcini were the best I've had. Unfortunately, my wife's salad of lobster and heirloom tomatoes had 3 small shells in it. I would have... more
A great choice for a special meal in Vancouver. Food was very well prepared and they have some nice choices not found on other menus.
Owner was "on patrol" all night keeping an eye on things and greeting the regulars. A very "old school " approach to service. Chef also came around to check on meals.
An expensive night out...

Excellent selection of Italian inspired food. I had the ox tail ravioli and they were amazing. The patio setting is wonderful for a summer evening dinner. Great service, attentive, friendly and helpful.
Cioppino"s was recommended to us by the Hotel reservation assistant. What a find!!! Three of us had different salads and entrees and all were excellent. The portion sizes were perfect and all of the meals were presented beautifully. The staff was very accommodating and helpful and we were not rushed at all. The experience made a perfect ending for a... more
I took my friend here for her birthday dinner, it was a win. We had reservations it was a very hot evening and upon our arrival we were given the choice of patio or inside, we chose inside and it was a good choice. had dinner at Cioppinos in June with some colleagues and a client.
Really liked the place... beautiful inside and out, with a fabulous patio outside to sit and people watch.
Food was delicious, but portions were small ( for the men in our party anyway). I thoroughly enjoyed my wild boar two ways, and the halibut was delicious but so...

This is the finest restaurant in the city. The service and food are great. the prices are appropriate for the quality. Pino is the to chef in western Canada. This is also the place to see the celebrities and athletes who are in town.
I have travelled the world and this place was far from the worst places I have been for service and food. The staff here were rude the food was Okay nothing special and I found extremely expensive.
I will never dine here again. I will tell my friends about this horrible place
We dined while on vacation with our family that includes 3 kids (ages 8, 9, 12). We had a fabulous meal with amazing service in a really lovely space. I was a little hesitant when we walked in as it was a quiet and even romantic restaurant and we brought our kids (albeit early in the evening). Our service was... more
My wife and I have been here many times. The food just stays great. We ordered the roast chicken with extra peas, including a stellar pinot noir (recommended by our server). Our appy was the grilled Caesar salad.
Mr. Postero (head chef and owner) spoke to us about our meal and was genuinely interested that we enjoyed our food.

They squeezed us in without a reservation, avocado and crab salad was delightful, the dressing was light but flavorful and the lobster risotto was exactly what I hoped it would be. Both the lamb and pork medallions were melt in your mouth good. Dessert was great. Our waitress was absolutely lovely. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Amazing food and great service, albeit in a room which feels slightly dated. The mixed seafood which consisted of roasted lobster tail, crab, scallops and prawns was perfection matched with the bottle of Viognier.
Excellent food and very food service.
I went there with my wife and had a very good dinner: Classic lobster bisque, porcini and chestnut soul, sautee mushrooms with potatoes and risotto with lobster.
All dishes were very tasty - definitely a place to recommend.
My husband and I visited Cioppino's on Friday, May 30th, 2014. We were in Vancouver to take in the 'Eat Vancouver' trade show, & really wanted to experience a few of Vancouver's highly regarded restaurants. I must say...it was a truly unforgettable experience! The in house cured meats we had as an appetizer were AMAZING! I was so impressed with... more
Vancouver - don't tell me that's all you got!! We were disappointed eating at this place last weekend. A mediocre fare - your old school typical menu, plates way too big and no creativity in presentation. The interior is also cheap (plastic flowers tell it all) and not what you would expect from a high-end eatery. Wine list is gimmicky:... more
This was my first visit to this award winning Grill & Enoteca. Cioppino's is located in Yaletown generally an easy walk from most Vancouver hotels. Parking in the area can be difficult, so I suggest you make use of the restaurants Valet service ($12.00).
The first impressions are positive, warm greeting by the Hostess and inside the ambience is very...

Cioppino is a seafood stew that is generally an inexpensive way of feeding great fresh seafood to a lot of people. It’s usually found in more casual atmospheres.

This is a must dine, romantic Italian restaurant in the heart of Yaletown. Great food, outstanding wine list. Wonderful waiter who knows his wines well and can make astute recommendations. Delicious, lobster risotto. Hearty, yet light and flavourful. Cannoli for dessert just made my tummy happy!

If you like real Italian cuisine and you are in Vancouver you should go there.
It's the best real Italian restaurant all over British Columbia.
Me and my family, we loved it.
It's the only Italian restaurant in Vancouver and you can taste real Italian food, it had been like being back home in my country.
The decor is very modern and very elegant with a large open Kitchen.
Their wine list is by far the biggest and best I have seen in Vancouver.
Their service was outstanding and the staff were all very well dressed and attentive.
All of our food was SPECTACULER. They have fantastic Pastry for desert.

I did not order off the menu (as usual). The server (Patrick) was outstanding. The Saltimbocca was the best Pino (the chef) has ever made. We love going to this restaurant when we come to Vancouver. On top of excellent food, the service is amazing. Pino always has the time to come over and personalize the experience. This restaurant is very expensive to overpriced - food and wine. I'm just glad that the night we went, our food was delicious. Restaurant is located in Yaletown.

Vancouver has become such a "foodie" town that it is hard to narrow down restaurant selections. But this should be one of them. It's easy to get to this trendy area by subway. Nice and cozy atmosphere, makes you want to stay and enjoy your meal. The staff was very helpful and welcoming, even though we were a little late. Large selection of wine, modest selection by the glass. I quite enjoyed the dishes, found the octopus to really be amazingly tender. Upon the recommendation of the hotel's concierge, we dined at Cioppino's, located in the Yaletown of Vancouver. This is an upscale Italian restaurant that serves excellent food. The quality and level of service at this restaurant lives up to the hype. While the wine list (book) may be somewhat daunting at first (note whites are sorted by grape and reds are sorted inexplicably by region) the servers are happy to distil the perfect bottle for your meal.

The setting and atmosphere is without reproach so is the service. But the food and the wines are so overpriced.... Not for a first date, not for a casual bite to eat, but for a retirement (or any other momentous occasion) Cioppino's will not disappoint. If $120 is normally an expensive meal then make sure to bring a defibrillator here our bill was well over $200, a single appetizer costs what I normally pay for an entire meal. Now if you're in the mood to be pampered there is no better food or service.

I had great expectations coming to this restaurant, expecting to be overwhelmed by the food. I was underwhelmed. Appetizers...cut up sausages on toothpicks, rice balls with basil (couldn't taste any basil) and cut-up tomato brouchette....nothing that stood out. Without doubt the finest Italian restaurant in Vancouver and I have tried them all multiple times. Incredible food and service. Elegant, urban yet fun atmosphere. The food exceeded expectations and the decor is great because you can see what is going on in the kitchen. I highly suggest the vegetarian course menu because there are not a lot of place in Vancouver that do high-end delicious vegetarian.
Excellent Food and service. Very good suggestions on the wine. Personal greeting by owner Pino!
Biggest Scallop I've ever seen! Waiters have great french accents
The food was superb. The staff simply fantastic. The owner was unbelievable. A must eat restaurant when traveling to Vancouver.
"""the room is not big. but no TV, good decor. servers are knowledgeable. the wine list is too much, even don't feel like to open the big fat list. open kitchen space, a little noisy. staff are very good. good bread and dip."""
"""The food here is absolutely delicious, but if you want to have a pleasant evening don't bother. The servers are stuck up and rude and the prices are beyond comprehension."""
"""The top italian restaurant in Vancouver hands down. The service is exceptional and the food is amazing. If there is one restaurant that you have to eat at for any reason, this would be it!"""
Either the Grill or the Enoteca is worthy of a special trip to Cioppino's. The food is always filled with surprise and delight. So is the bill at the end but the best doesn't usually come cheap.
"""Good food, but not as great as its reputation presumes..."""
"""Arguably Vancouver's finest restaurant and certainly one of it's most expensive. The chef is a genius, the food always exceeds expectations and the ambiance is fabulous, particularly if you like looking at the rich and famous who frequent this place."""
Great food but can be pricey compared to other restaurants for a similar experience.
"""Food, Wine and Service are always impeccable!!! I have not gone for awhile but when we do, it is one of the finest if not best Italian restaurants in Vancouver"""
Easily the top Italian restaurant in Vancouver. The pappardelle with 4 hour braised veal cheeks is ridiculous. The penne with lamb ragout is phenomenal as well.
Food is definitely not what it was. I have experienced a significant decline in quality over the last three years. Four years ago this was the place to go for good food. Service can be quite good but is generally pompous. Disappointing.
It is expensive but if you order the Lobster Bisque a whole meal can be made with the exceptionally good bread. We sat on their patio for our wedding anniversary and it was very romantic. The servers are very charming. When they found out it was our anniversary we were presented with a complementary dessert: Panna cotta "alla Torinese", flavoured with vanilla and spices, "Vecchia Lanterna"... more
Outstanding service. Chef and staff waited on us and explained the history behind the cuisine. Sommelier was excellent. Food was not equal to the attentiveness of the staff. Wanted it to be.
This restaurant is overrated.....service very good....food that I had was very ordinary. I went to the restaurant not knowing its reputation and rating and was shocked when I found out later that this was the highest rated restaurant in Vancouver on Zagat.
Our waiter said that everything is good, boy, was he right! We tried menu'd items as well as today's specials and everything was FANTASTIC. We are looking forward to going back when we visit Vancouver next time.
Very good service and meal in private rooms. Good variety of size's for different groups. Will work with you to develop your special menu
great food .. wonderful wine selection, but a little pricey .. if you have a chance to enjoy the risotto with black truffles, it is to die for .. wonderful evening .. very attentive service .. and knowledgeable .. definitely recommending and will be back for more ..
Great food, but not as great as the pricetag. Very overpriced wine list. Somehow the term "second mortgage" comes to mind when contemplating the whopping bill. If your wallet looks like that of some Hollywood celebrity, you'll likely fawn all over the food and tell all of your too beautiful friends to go.
Voted one of Vancouver's best Italian/Mediterranean restaurants year after year. If you get lucky to hear the owner Pino Posteraro sing opera, you'll be in for a real treat. Food and service are both incredible.
Beautiful restaurant and amazing, beautifully prepared food. A favourite of the Canucks - get ready to people watch!
Pino Posteraro is perhaps, Vancouver's top chef, certainly he makes the best Italian food hands down. Not cheap, but what do you expect for food this good?
Overpriced and overrated. Vancouver is known for its variety, authenticity, local products and good value. Not here.
Maybe the finest Italian food in Vancouver but menu needs changing. Been there numerous times but menu seems static. Over-priced wine list.
great food, service. Another celeb hangout. More of a special occasion destination, very high priced
Chef was personable and was able to accommodate special requests. Beautiful open kitchen and private dining rooms.
extensive & pricey wine list. elegant & gorgeous surroundings & service. Delicious meals everytime. A bit o' snob appeal and always a visiting celeb at the bar but worth the added expense for a special night out.
Best Italian restaurant in Vancouver. Gives top restaurants in Italy a run for their money too. If you can afford it, go there immediately.
Chef Pino & his team produce culinary miracles in a subdued, rich, setting. An excellent winelist & knowledgeable staff allows a profound Italian culinary adventure.
Beautifully presented, expertly served in a warm, lively atmosphere. Expensive, but worth it.
Excellent food---fresh, modern and trad Italian fare. Good place to see and be seen.
One of Vancouver's true celebrity chefs, Pino Posteraro regularly turns out some of the most delicious, inventive Italian cuisine in Vancouver at a price tag to match his lofty talent. Unfortunately every meal comes with an even larger dose of attitude. A
What was a great Vancouver piece of Italian fare is no longer worthy of that classification. Tired wine list and aloof perhaps insulting staff ruin the experience.
Best treatment of "meat" I've ever had this side of the Atlantic. Place is a bit precious, but once you get past that, it's all good.
Superb cuisine fresher than an 18 year olds thoughts. An excellent menu with daily specials. The chef wins awards for the food, but deserves kudos for his frequent walks throughout the restaurant chatting with his guests. A wine list as good as it is ambi
