Absolutely delicious food, although the prices are a little high considering the small-ish portions. Still, the quality makes up for it. I'm a truly ardent meat-lover, yet this restaurant makes vegetarianism more than palatable to me ;) Main dishes run at about $14-16, if I remember correctly... plus
A friend of mine recommended this restaurant. My husband and I tried it around Valentine's Day and were very impressed. The service was excellent. The food amazing. You must try the spring rolls, the best in town. Also the dumplings in peanut sauce were the best I ever tasted. Just keep and eye out because just next door is their express restaurant called Chuch where you can bring your own... plus
Great vegetarian Thai restaurant. A bit small on the portions but taste great. You'll really think it's real meat.
4088 Saint Denis Street. This is my favorite thai restaurant in town, and/but it's vegetarian. The meat here is mock meat but very tasty for sure. A mean yellow curry and great fried bananas.
The panang curry and sticky rice is pricey but oh so good! Definitely worth the splurge!
Vegetarian hipster chick food. Complete b@!%!**t. Yes it "tastes good" but vegetarian food is like beat boxing, the best is can be is almost as close as the real deal. Paid 16$ for a fist full of pad thai that is 1/4th the size of any other place. Left starving and had a Burger right after.
Hungry men beware.
Classy Thai vegetarian place. Try the satay skewers and miam kram for starters. The chilli basil tofu is also very nice.
My first time dining here at ChuChai and I've been pretty impressed so far. The first thing that caught my eye on the menu was the duck in red curry. I immediately ordered it and it was so good! One of the best Thai dining experiences I had so far. I would definitely love to go back here and give their other dishes a try!
Great top-rated Thai food, suitable for a fancy evening out. The owner often works the counter and is happy to offer suggestions.
This place recently re-opened and the place looks amazing. The restaurant has gone upscale, with fancier-looking dishes and a place that looks like it will slide nicely into being a high-end place to go for drinks in the evening.
With this came a significant...

Thoroughly enjoyed the deep fried tofu appetizers, the pan fried dumplings and the ginger tofu entree. Everything was delicious and I didn't miss the meat at all!
"""It's vegetarian, and that keeps it full. But while everything here is acceptable very little is exceptional. Still for restaurant quality starved veggies such as I this is a giant among the dwarves"""
"""Vegan restaurant. Serves 'I can,t believe it's not meat' protein dishes. Pointless for meat eaters. Tacky 80's asian decor."""
Very good vegetarian Thai food. Fake duck tastes like real duck!
great and inventive thai vegan cuisine. more expensive in the restaurant section than in the caf
This is one of the best vegetarian places in Montreal. The tofu dishes are very good and some you would think that it is real meat. Even if you love meat you should give this place a try once.
Especially yummy for vegetarians missing the taste of animal protein, but meat eaters will also be impressed. We are from outta town and will be going back. The duck dishes are recommended.
It looks like a duck, tastes like a duck but its not a duck! Delicious vegetarian dishes themed around basic "meats" there are duck, shrimp, chicken and beef dishes that look and taste just so. Bring your own wine right across the street from an SAQ. Great for small groups but I suggest dinner for two
This is a unique vegetarian resto - you eat duck, shrimp and chicken! The meat products are all soya based! I ate spicy coconut chicken soup - and red curry duck. As I am not a vegetarian, I could tell the difference, but the food was great nonetheless. The service was a little slow, but only because the place was packed. I don't know if I would go on a regular basis, but I did enjoy the food.... plus
Bring some meat eaters and don't tell them what you are up to.. they will eat and think it is meat, then will be shocked when they hear that there is no meat involved- would fool anyone...There is a mushroom starter that I dream of, it is so good.
Although following a promising review in ZAGAT 2007/2008 we were still amazed by the superb tasting vegetarian food. There should be a ChuChai in every major city in the world !!!. I have only one suggestion for improvement: the vegetarians at our table were turned of by the non-vegetarian description on the menu. So ChuChai should make a vegetarian and non-vegetarian card describing the same... plus
Reasonably priced and of a decent quality. Service wasn't great though.
I recommend making a reservation if you are planning to dine here on a weekend. The service was excellent! I had the dumplings with peanut sauce ($7), "duck" with red bean curry (I cannot recall the exact name of the dish ($16)), rice (ordered a la carte) and lime sorbet. There were many choices. The food was delicious! I would definitely go back!
One of the best thai restuarants in Montreal. Don't let the fact that it is a vegetarian restauarnt scare you off.The appetizers are excellent as are the main dishes. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is clean and sleek.
Vegetarian or Not, this restaurant will blow you away. Chu Chai offeres every type of food, created to mimic the original meat product using tofu. Words can never describe the restaurant until you check it out for yourself. Try to go in the evening, because the day time restaurant on the side(express) doesn't compliment the exactual restaurant.
A group of 6 of us went to Chu Chai at the end of July. It was an amazing dinner! Make sure that you share the plates. I Highly recommend the Peanut ";chicken"; with spinach. I Love my meat, but this place certainly made me think that being a vegetarian would be so bad after all!
This restaurant specializes in mock-meat dishes, and if no one had told us the food was vegetarian, we'd have never known - the imitation is that good. But the food is not just ";good fake meat"; - it's absolutely fantastic by whatever standards you use to measure it. Our favorite was the shrimp with deep-fried crunchy spinach leaves and the faux-beef kebabs, but everything was good. This is a... plus

Tired of the same mundane vegetarian grub? Chuchai is for you. This purely vegetarian eatery is known for its faux meat and serves up a variety of Thai delicacies. Do try the mock fish with basil, coconut milk and spicy sauce. The non-vegetarians... plus

Chu Chai's mock meats give new meaning to the words, "tastes just like chicken." Widely regarded as the best imitation poultry, fish, shrimp and beef dressed up in Thai style, the best choice is to have it all from the tastings menu. Four can dine on generous samples of several dishes for a reasonable price. The "meats" are created from soy-based products and the sauces are traditional Thai... plus
