Be sure to come in and take a service on Sunday if you're living nearby. The church is splendid. And the pastors and staffs are very nice.
We came across the Cathedral while walking down Burrard Street from our hotel down to the harbour. A beautiful old (by Vancouver standards) building in the middle of all the skyscrapers! So peaceful inside and beautifully kept. We had a nice conversation with the gentleman sitting just inside on 'reception'. There is no charge but donations are very welcome! We... more
This is a beautiful Anglican church and it is worth visiting. Other than the gentleman who was at a reception desk when we entered and who provided information about the church, and two other visitors, we were the only people in the cathedral. The church has a beautiful wood ceiling and a number of stained glass windows. Photographs are permitted.... more
We walked along Burrard St. from our hotel towards Canada Place and half way down, came to the Cathedral. We were expecting a large building but it was the size of a small Parish church.
However, once inside we were greeted by a pleasant man seated at a desk, who was ready to give you any information we wanted yet...

Gregorian chants are performed every Sunday at 9:30. This was such a nice change of pace for us after dinner at Diva at the Met, to walk over to this little church surrounded by modern skyscrapers and listen for awhile to the singers before calling it a night.
Beautiful and quiet cathedral for meditation and contemplation outside of regular service hours as well.
I attended a funeral for a former school teacher. I was impressed by the service, the music and the respect shown to her family and former colleagues and students.
I visited Christ Church Cathedral for a concert rather than for a religious service. It is a lovely old building with wonderful stained glass windows. A magnificent venue for a concert.
One of the oldest churches in Vancouver, but by European standards it's small and not special. The acoustics are good and concerts are often held there.
Beautiful interior unusual in that it is constructed primarily of wood. I especially loved the modern Tree of Life stained glass windows, which portrays salmon swimming, trees, river, and sky.
The history of the church's financial woes and how they were overcome is also very interesting. We learned about this history from our fantastic tour guide (see also my review...

This is a gorgeous old church with lots of beautiful stained glass and woodwork. The accustics are amazing so we enjoyed an outstanding musical event featuring a well known violinist from LA and her piano accompanist.
Even if there is not a concert to enjoy, this church is well worth a visit!!
The atmosphere is lovely. One of the oldest churches in Vancouver, set among tall highrises. It's nice to visit for special concerts given during December. It's located right across from the Burrard Skytrain so it's very easy to get to.
We actually went here twice. First on Sunday evening (9:00 pm, I think) for their Gregorian Chant service, which was very special. Then the next day we went on a walking tour of downtown Vancouver, and this was one of the stops. It was great to be able to go in during the day, and take some pictures (which I... more
Lovely Anglican church with a lot of history (Vancouver Tour Guides explains it on one of their free tours: Downtown and Olympic Waterfront tour). Look and see the different types of outside building materials used in it's construction, the dog in the stained glass window, beautiful organ, and the use of fine local lumber inside. Hey it's free to visit... more
This is (outside of being a regular church with a parish and services) an historical building, The church has beautiful windows, displays, and is open for tourists. Parking is horrid, as usual.
I think this is the prettiest church in Vancouver. Beautiful wood beams. Music concerts are very enjoyable in the space.
I stopped in recently just to see the stained glass windows . Someone was playing a huge organ in the loft .
Where I got married. Beautiful church (probably the most beautiful in BC), and this is from a Catholic.
Beautiful church in the middle of downtown! Step in and go back in time ... beautiful stained glass windows and huge pipe organ! Across form the Hyatt and the Fairmont ... oldest church in Vancouver.
Stop by here for 15 minutes. A quiet refuge in a bustling city. Beautiful woodwork and an amazing pipe organ.
Very different than most churches and well worth a visit, and a small donation.
Oldest church in Vancouver. Looks like old English village parish. Worth a visit if you can find parking. Read my blog entitled "Downtown Vancouver" for more details.
WE attended have attended many cultural events in Christ Church, the last of which was a choir. It is a beautiful venue with marvelous accoustics in the heart of Vancouver
This cathedral is beautiful and the pastor in charge is very engaging. We were fortunate to be invited to a beautiful wedding. The church was festooned with the loveliest fresh flowers and even without the wedding, it would be a great place to sit for a few moments and enjoy your own thoughts.
For a new city we are luck to have such a beautiful Church
This is an amazing venue for music - the acoustics are phenomenal. They hold frequent musical events (checkout their website for a current listing) and the variety is pretty amazing from gospel, to jazz, to classical - something for most tastes. Great location in the middle of downtown - easy to get to.
An oasis of calm where you can visit, sit, pray, meditate, and appreciate the beautiful ceiling.
The cathedral is open during the noon hour providing a place for quiet contemplation.
If you care about historic architecture, don't miss a look at the stunning interior of this Anglican (Episcopalian) Cathedral. On some days a Labyrinth based on the Chartres labryinth is available to walk. As well as religious services, the Cathedral hosts many public events and performances.
Make sure to check and see if there is a musical event on in the evening or afternoon before you go! Vespers (evening prayers) and Compline (night prayers, around 9pm) are both beautiful services to attend. It is very quiet and peaceful. There are also other non-religious musical events here as well. And the architecture of the church is just... more
Withut a doubt the stained glass at what many believe to be Celtic inspired, Christchurch(Anglican Cathedral) is worth a look, esp. if the light is right, for some of the work done there with some of the windows is really first rate ( too many stained glass windows in North America are sadly mediocrity personified) and one can see how this medium was used in an age of illiteracy (The Middle... more
This gothic-style cathedral has 29 beautiful stained glass windows.
Walk into this 110-year-old church and feel as though you've stepped back in time to a serene place. The historic cathedral, located across the street from the equally impressive Hotel Vancouver , features 29 striking gothic stained glass windows, each reflecting a story from the New Testament . The public art displayed in the lobby is also mesmerizing. The downtown landmark plays host to many... more
