Helene Pappas expertly crafts handmade chocolates with an adventurer’s palette. Purists dig cocoa in the an adventurer’s palette. Purists dig cocoa in the raw sprinkled with cocoa nibs, but better to create your own buffet by ordering a selection. From chili-steeped, pink peppercorn, wasabi-ginger, molé, Thai lemongrass with a hit coconut cream and curry, who needs lunch? For dessert, unwind on... more
Forget fancy cars, granite counter tops and 6 burner stove tops, one of life's real luxuries is to consume a box of perfectly handcrafted chocolates and a good bottle of wine. Having eaten chocolate around the world including the best, as far as i am concerned, Pierre Marcolini in Brussels I consider myself a reasonably good judge.
This family run shop produces chocolates in 50 flavours as well...

I bought 4 chocolates to sample before buying a bunch to take back to friends and family. I loved their new Guiness truffle and wish I had bought more! She was so nice and let us borrow a knife to cut each truffle into little wedges. Their caramels are also amazing and fluid. Both dark and milk chocolates have a snap when you bite into them and that is a telltale sign of quality chocolate and... more
I am a bit of a chocolaholic and have bought chocolate from all of the chocolate makers in Victoria Bc. This store has the best. I love the Thai Lemongrass and the Mango but I have never head a bad one. On Fort near Douglas beside the TD bank.
A few times I dropped by to checked when i was in Victoria buy always missed it for some reason but made sure that before I go home I'll drop by coz it's highly recommended and as expected I was definitely please on every bite of my chocolate with a hint of coconut brownie shared with my husband who until... more
What's so unusual about their chocolates you ask. Well, how many shops have wasabi, saffron, mole, Himalayan pink sea salt and my personal favorite, chili chocolates? We stop here every time we visit Victoria and have given chocolates from this shop as gifts to friends as well over the years. Fresh, tasty and wonderful flavors both in dark and milk... more
My husband's other comment was, "I could get addicted to this if I lived in Victoria", so be warned. We tried the 'Dense Chocolate' ($3.75): eat it with a spoon, and it is advisable to share it. It is VERY rich. We also tried the Xocolatl ($3.00), which is cocoa, water and spices (cinnamon definitely, and a hint of something... more
Just off of a busy intersection, this is a really nice place to have a seat and grab a coffee... or a hot chocolate. Stopped in with a colleague for hot chocolate and a brownie. The hot chocolate was incredibly rich. The brownie was excellent as well. Recommend stopping in for a quick bite or drink to refresh yourself.
Fresh, handmade from quality ingredients. What's not to love? And such an array of flavour pairings....salted caramel anyone?
Even if you aren't already addicted to chocolate, you might want to use caution in visiting Chocolat. I avoided the candies for a year or two, enjoying only the hot chocolate drink, but I was with my daughter and son-in-law this trip and they loaded up on the filled chocolate shells (called truffles in Belgium). Chocolat uses Callebaut couverture, the... more
What can I say about this place? Nothing bad, that's for sure. I come here once and a while to just sit down and enjoy the people watching. The hot chocolate is the best I've ever had and your chocolate treat options are damn near endless.
Must visit if at least just once.
A beautiful assortment of chocolates, drinks and baked goods. Interior is intimate and only accommodates a few for eat-in, a small price to pay for the great location at the heart of downtown. Did not have the opportunity to sample the drinks or bar chocolates, but the individuals have always been up to standard, priced by weight and simply boxed.... more
My daughter and I dropped in to select a few special chocolates to share at home after we had a long walk through tree lined streets of Victoria. We selected 8 different chocolates with varied combinations of ingredients including chili, wasabi, matcha, coconut, lime, mango and passionfruit. What a treat! They were simply the best I have ever had. Although... more
Just tried the new Pure Nacional hot chocolate. Beautiful, thick, smooth, not overly sweet, it's worth stopping by. Not to mention all the other great goodies. This is a great place to visit after a day at work.
Exceptional chocolates. Check their website for pictures of the fabulous selection. I went prepared with my little list because I knew it would be too hard to choose if I didn't have a game plan. We bought six: three for me, three for him. I had the chili and dark chocolate (a real kick), 75% cocoa truffle (velvet on my... more
We stopped in this delightful little chocolate shop during a trip to Victoria, and ordered the special Hot Chocolate and a delicious chocolate ganache tart. The hot chocolate was a real treat, not too sweet, very rich and memorable. The tart was out of this world delicious, with a crisp vanilla cookie type crust, and fresh raspberries covered in a... more
Had the best cup of hot chocolate made with a special chocolate with water and a little sugar. I can still taste and feel it in my veins a week later. Delicious handmade candies that were quite different. An absolute must to stop in.
Nothing particular wrong with the chocolates at this shop except that they are expensive. Nothing particularly right with them either. The baked goods are overly dense and sweet. If you are having a chocolate-dominated obsessive episode, you can get cured here. That's about it.
Fabulous melt in your mouth chocolates without preservatives or additives. For true chocoholics try the "Dense Chocolate" 3 oz of melted bitter sweet chocolate in an espresso cup. Yum.
Absolutely the best chocolate shop I've ever been in.
This family-run business uses top quality, fresh ingredients and offer a gorgeous array of handmade chocolates you can buy individually, like praline, lavender, chai, champagne, pumpkin (my new favourite), Himalayan pink salt, chilli, matcha, and many more.
Their chocolates have a very short life span, but when's the last time you thought,...

Best Chocolatier hands down!! They don't add preservatives to their chocolates which makes em' taste even better.
Everything is fresh & made everyday.
The Hot Chocolate & desserts are soo good! just too bad they don't ship out cause the owner says it'll go bad after 10 days.. (forgot to even buy some for my family cause i was too amazed on how good it was) Would definitely come back when in...

This place almost fully fills the space in my heart for "decadent little treats". If ever I'm hoping to wow someone with top-notch, specialty chocolate, these are the morsels to do it with. We have a few chocolateries on the island including Perdy's & Bernard Callebaut, which are both tasty - this little shop leaves them both in the dust.... more
Best hot chocolate in Victoria BC. Visited many times during my brief visit to the city. Variety of styles to choose from. Great dark chocolate drinks.
Great selection of wonderful chocolatey treats. Very good chocolate confections, although no trip is complete without a trip to Rogers's for some Victoria creams!
This is an amazing chocolatier. I wish I could meet this lady Helene Pappas and tell her to give me her chocolate secrets. Well worth the visit if you are in the Vancouver area and want some great chocolate (even though you will need to get on a ferry for an hour to get there). I really wish they would mail chocolates too, I called them today and they said they only will deliver/mail to the... more
The old man who runs this place sure knows how to make me cream my pants.
Best hot chocolate I've ever had -- Swiss Miss with c@!%!y fake tiny marshmallows.. GTFO!
The handmade chocolates are all delicious as well. Bars of chocolate next to register are categorized by cocoa content, win.
This is my place of sinful pleasures ;o). Run by one of the former owners of Hilltop Chocolates in Saanichton, which closed due to retirement a few years ago. That was a very sad day. Luckily Chocolat Chocolaterie de Victoria uses the same recipes. The best chocolates I have ever had, by far. Always made fresh. I like that they are not too sweet, just right. The truffles are light and creamy.... more
Fan of the thai lemongrass truffle...also the spicy hot cocoa, ...and the grand marnier truffles,...I can go on and on! The mocha was delicous! The pepper truffle was interesting. THE STRAWBERRY WHITE CHOCOLATE IS MY FAVORITE! I come here for birthday, Valentine's Day, tried to come around Christmas and New Years, but it was closed...come by for a quick drink or even an ice cream covered in... more
DH and I know chocolate...love chocolate....and search for great chocolate wherever we go. Our favorite is Michael Recchiuti, where 13 oz of molded chocolates is currently $83, not including tax. We DON'T like European dark sweet chocolate, preferring bittersweet instead.
But Chocolat Chocolatiere De Victoria is the only store we've come across in 40 yrs that offers a truly fine, dark sweet...

It's a fancypants Chocolate place that's perfect for picking up truffles for that special person on their birthday, your anniversary, Valentine's Day, or Administrative Professionals Day.
They have a number of different varieties, such as a saffron truffle, and a cinnamon truffle, all with an intricate, but not stuffy appearance. Every piece I have tried has been delicious.
They also serve a...

I am not someone that knows a lot about chocolates and sweets, so I'm not going to be able to mention the finer points of the chocolate they produce here. What I will say is that for $5 I picked up three truffles that were all made in-house. The service was friendly and the inside of the store is cute. And they have chili hot chocolate and chocolate with chili in it!
This place has always been...

Chocolat Chocolatiere De Victoria offers these services: chocolate, cocoa.
Helene Pappas has earned a devoted following among Vancouver Island chocolate connoisseurs, with good reason. Not only do her creations look notably more attractive than many of the competitors', they also taste absolutely incredible. There's a small café where you can enjoy a cup of coffee with your treat of choice, which might be a few chocolates or even a slice of cake. If you're an... more
