Worst experience of my life

Terrible place. When I go into details of why this was the case, my review gets rejected.

Do not stay here! May be cheap ($80/night) but here is what you can look forward to
-Sweltering heat and no AC
-Rooms that have had serious chain smokers as guests
-Heavy Metal playing loud enough to rattle the walls in the pub downstairs until 1am
-Dog blankets for your bed spread
-Terrible customer service

Horrible, horrible experience.
-Dysfunctional showers

Inside good, outside bad

The outside of the hotel and the immediate neighborhood are pretty run down (my girlfriend called it "really sketchy"). It's also in the same building as a karaoke bar that seems to be managed by the same guy. That said, that one guy was really friendly and helpful and inside the room itself was great. One night was too much!

We booked a room for a couple another an additional adult. the supplied room had 2 beds which were supposed to be 'double' but they were below the width of the usual double bed. for the couple this meant a most uncomfortable night with little sleep. the hotel staff were pleasant and the gentleman helpful with directions. We would find it difficult to recommend this establishment.

Would definitely go back

Considering the first place we stayed at in Squamish had dirty comforters, stained sheets, black mold, and wifi that would not work couple with rude staff, this place was great! Nice hotel but no good room

Hotel was nice, but no good room. Smelly rooms. Uncomfortable bed etc. No proper parking directions. It was very hard to communicate with the hotel staff.

Good Price-Clean Rooms

Hotel staff were very helpful and attentive. Hotel exterior is very rundown, however room and bathroom were clean and somewhat updated. Hotel is under new management and perhaps they will continue to make rennovations. Hotel is in a good location, you can easily walk to restaurants and unique gift shops.

Nice for the Price

Clean and comfortable room. Pleasant staff and helpful. No air-conditioning but a fan was provided.

Good Value

We selected hotel because it was the only one available and given the low price our expectations were very low. The hotel entrance adjacent to the pub reinforced our initial impression, but much to our surprise the room was clean and quiet. If all you want is reasonably priced, clean quiet place to sleep, then the Chieftain is not a bad choice.

The hotel Although they had tried to make it comfortable was extremely hot and there was no AC the window opened out to a roof which was easily accessible fro the street.

Well within expectations for this price range and location. Barely Passable

No the best hotel but was cheap. Rooms were no the cleanest.

Good economy stay

Nice comfortable place that is a little on the aged side.

Old, but ok for the price

They could use fitted sheets that stay on the bed. And the breakfast they advertised was a coffee pot in the room w/ tea and coffee to make in the morning.

Pictures can be deceiving

We spent two nights at the chieftain and were surprised to find that the rooms look absolutely nothing like the pictures on their website. Nice downtown Squamish stay

I decided to stay in Squamish while visiting the area and found the Chieftain to be a nice hotel. Squamish definitely has the small town feel and most places close pretty early. I would consider staying here again if I was doing a lot more sightseeing in the area.

whistler alternate

Two of my friends and I stayed here on the way to slay the dh trails of Whistler. The price was nice and, upon seeing there were 3 of us the gent at the front desk gave us an extra room FREE! The views from the room were fantastic. No A/C, but big whoop. Get tough. I will return.

I love this place

The Chieftain is very different to most hotels we stayed at on our 4 week road trip.

Great Room. Really Clean

I would recommend this hotel not just for the price but for the cleanliness of the rooms and the very pleasant helpful service. All rooms have recently been remodelled and updated. Decor is tasteful. Had a great sleep in a VERY comfortable bed.

not worth the cheap price

I found this on Expedia for $69 and it seemed nice. The hotel is older, no elevator so you have to drag your suitcases upstairs. Stay away from this dump,it is much safer to sleep in your car. The room was hot and had a funky smell.
