Cozy little Victorian area in the back with soft couches and a coffee table. Unfortunately, it's so comfortable that the rich poutine and stew are bound to give heartburn on the couch.
The rest is a traditional sports bar with a pub feel.
Dart boards and a billiards room compete it.
The poutine, Guinness beef stew, Yorkshire pudding, and fish and chips were all perfect and fast. To top it off,...

My sister and my friend have both been to England, and they said this pub definitely had a British feel! Only it was much more spacious than your typical British pub. Not sure why there was a disco ball. It wasn't crowded when we went for dinner, but the waitress seemed rushed. It was nice of her to reprint the receipts after I checked in on yelp for the 10% off deal. Not much selection when it... more
Very friendly staff. Food is good.good atmosphere makes for a good pub stop when in Sidney. Right next to gas station and Best Western.
Good selection of beer and the live music on Saturday was quite entertaining! Can definitely see myself coming back when in the neighbourhood.
Handily located at the Travelodge and a stone's throw from the Best Western, both near the main drag of Sidney, this is a great place to get some good grub.
Be prepared though: you get more than you can possibly eat. If you're looking for a light meal in the late evening, as we were, then order a couple of...

We were staying in the hotel next door for 4 nights and we went to the pub 3 out of the 4 days we were here. The food was amazing and the staff were too.
Wednesday Night they had something called Music Bingo, it was fun but we didn't win :(
Friday was a lot of fun they had a...

We had fish and chips, quite delicious. The service was a little slow although the pub was quite empty at the time (late lunch).
After traveling all day my wife and I did not want to travel far for dinner. The receptionist at the travelodge next door recommended the Dickens Pub. We were not dissappointed. Entering the pub it definitely had the feel of being in a real English Pub. The service was freindly and very efficient. Our dinner order was taken and served... more
I had dinner at the Charles Dickens last Monday night and had the Lumber Jack pork chop dinner
It was better then some of the many meals I have spent way more money on at the Keg in Victoria
With this meal you don't need an appetizer and i very much doubt any desert. I had it with the mushroom...

Loved the atmosphere of the place. We got there right at opening time (11:00am) so had it nearly to ourselves. The food was good and fairly priced. My husband and I both enjoyed our meals. The best part was the desert! We ordered the apple pastry with ice cream desert and shouldn't have shared it! I should have ordered one... more
We were staying at the hotel beside this pub-style restaurant, for one night before a southern vacation, and decided to walk over for dinner. The menu is large, with a variety for everyone, and a selection of various cuisines. Having read some reviews about bad service but decent food, we were prepared for whatever....wow, they must have changed staff, because... more
We chose this pub due to its proximity to the hotel and the 20% discount for hotel guests. The food was very good, my husband had the double bypass burger and found it excellent and I had the beef dip which was very good. Unfortunately the service was not good. Server was inattentive and slow even though it was mid... more
We have just moved to the Sidney area and dropped in for dinner. This is a typical pub/sports bar with about 10 assorted screens, plenty of background music and a youngish clientele. We prefer quieter places for conversation so it is unlikely to become our local.
The draft Boddington's was excellent and the food and the service were quite good....

We ate here when we overnighted in Sidney close to the airport for our early morning departure. The location right beside the Travelodge was awesomely convenient. The atmosphere is warm and cozy with a fairly good menu selection, similar to what you'd expect at any pub restaurant. The service was somewhat sluggish and inattentive, especially when it came to clearing... more
I have eaten here a number of times and the food is generally not bad, but there has been a couple times that the food wasn't very good. Service is again average, not going to be left long with an empty beer but not going to always see your waitress stopping by. Nice atmosphere and lots of TVs to be... more
The Airport trace lodge is next door and offers guests a discount. However, it's actually a step above what I expected with a great pub style menu and cozy setting unlike most noisy oversized places. Recommend
Semi pub/sports bar. Great food and was quiet so you can talk and relax. service was prompt and friendly Good curry and macn cheese. Full bar
new cook great food excellent well presented reasonably priced....BUT servers slow do the job but with little real interest.......would rate higher for food but service leaves a lot to be improved....half hour to get simple pub food in afternoon during week? if could get it together would rate above average
Really good food and awesome beers, don't miss the Poutine with wild mushrooms, beef stew was also really good. Blonde server was outstanding
I guess I was expecting British Pub Fare because of the title. So i was disappointed that stuff like shepherd's pie was not on the menu. Soup was okay but it was listed as a special. I found it inside the menu at smaller price and with garlic toast. So that was somewhat confusing. Service was good.
Nice beef chow mien spoilt by the loud music, especially for someone who relies on hearing aids. Staff friendly and service was reasonable. Only forgot one part of the meal
My hotel was way down by the waterfront, but I passed by this place each day on my way to work, so I got curious after a while.
Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. The first time I went (yes, I went twice to a place I'm three-starring; I make questionable decisions sometimes), I had the prawn curry, and...

The burgers here are fantastic and very good value. Very friendly and attentive staff. Very clean and well run.
I had the pleasure of eating my first Bangers & Mash in ages. Being from the USA, we don't normally see that on our menus so when I saw the Charles Dickens had it on the menu, I had no choice. I had to take try it!
I am happy to report that my Bangers & Mash was delicious and was paired with an excellent Canadian beer that our waitress had recommended. I'll definitely be back!!!
We had dinner here one night because the Smitty's restaurant near our hotel was already closed. Good pub food, nice atmosphere !
un by the hotel as we wanted a late dinner. It was about 9:30 pm and the kitchen is open until 11! (Most places close around 9, but things were going strong for a monday night!) Firstly I noticed how clean everything was; tables, chairs, floors, ketchup containers, etc. What a nice change to the normal dirty pub scene. This... more
I fully expected to have a terrible time here last Friday night, so naturally I prepared myself by getting drunk. Surprisingly, despite all the dire omens (bigscreen tvs, Top 40 dance music, and a mostly 20something crowd), it was pretty damned fun. And no, it wasn't just the booze.
The mixed crowd was cheerful and unpretentious. Even the traditional bastion of b@!%hiness, the women's washroom,...

good beefeater meat tender, nice bun, dipping sauce not salty as before, service was fast and friendly.
This restaurant serves typical pub food; not great, just okay. I had a steak that was quite chewy and a little overdone for my taste. It's located in a strip mall of sorts - next to a liquor store and across from a gas station and McDonalds.
While passing through Sidney en route to the ferry terminal and stopped by for some lunch. Our first choice was a pub near the waterfront, but for some silly reason all parking spaces are limited to 15 minutes! We went in search of another restaurant and found the CD Pub near the highway. Funnily enough the parking spaces in front... more
If you want to have a good meal choice, you really must visit the Charles Dickens Pub in Sidney, B.C. The service was excellent. The girls were so pleasant. We had just arrived in from a flight from Kelowna and we were looking for place to eat. Well we made the right choice. Keep in mind, it is a pub,... more
The Charles Dickens is a combination bar and restaurant (separate rooms but same food) that provides good quality basic fare at good prices. Typical selections are burgers, and fish and chips, and the portions are well sized. It is a good place to go with family (the restaurant) or for a good time (pub). Great location - right on the... more
If this is the pub in Sidney BC it was the most fun I have had at a pub attached to a resteraunt I've stayed at. There was a cover band called Ginzu Knives I think and they were amazing. The staff said that they have a DJ every Friday and Live bands every Saturday. We were only in town... more
