A cute little coffee shop over yonder on the 19th St NW strip. The main room is pretty small. It can get a little noisy with the coffee grinders and makers going. I enjoyed Central Blends despite the fact that they got my order wrong and that the girl at the counter seemed a little clueless (if I was working in the kitchen I may come to hate her, it's not hard to remember to give out a number so your coworker doesn't have to wander around aimlessly trying to find who the BLT belongs to).

Central Blends is a brilliant cafe. Right off the bat, the coffee is incredible. Bar none, the best espresso (and decaf) I've had in a while. The menu is perfect. Breakfast and lunch with all sorts of fresh baking to fill the gaps. Even Gluten Free options!!?? Wow. The owner is all about supporting local artists by allowing them to hang their work for a month, for sale, at no commission!... more

Central Blends is, as they say, "meh."

In three visits I had two London Fogs and a Mocha. The Mocha was lukewarm and lacked flavor: too much milk, not enough coffee and chocolate. This could have been because the barista was in training, but it was still unsatisfactory. The London Fogs were the same story: lukewarm and without adequate flavoring.

Good food, bad latte, really nice people. I would go there again simply for the staff. It is such a nice little family-run cafe I really love it there!

This place has its quirks, and it is worth checking out.
I've driven by it for years and years, but only started visiting when I happened to be frequenting the business next door (Brilliant Beginnings, which I have another review coming...)

Central Blends' muffins may seem relatively harmless, but beware. First you'll sample the regulars -- blueberry bran, cranberry oat -- then you'll realize that they are just the gateway drug to a daily roulette of muffin goodness: raspberry lemon ginger, coconut mango, or the amazing rhubarb streusel... This place is so funny... from the outside, driving past, it doesn't look like much. For a long time it had plastic lawn furniture for outside seating that turned yellow from the sun. You remember those - from your youth? It was the only thing your mum would let you spray with the hose for hours on end.
