The staff here were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was ok but quite old, gave the impression of an old school bed and breakfast however I think most hotels are like this in Vancouver. The rooms had wifi however you had to pay for it each day which was a bit annoying, the wifi was only to... more
Hotel cleaners are very good, friendly staff and has facillities such as whirlpool and sauna. Not good you have to pay $8 for wifi, hotel is near downtown close to public transport. No breakfast included. Not a bad hotel!
Not quite the gateway to Vancouver but really close to transport, bus and sky train. Comfort, spacious with perfect view of Grouse mountain. Whirlpool, sauna, WIFI and helpful, friendly staff. Bino for meals just a step away. Enjoy!
Dealt with 4 different members of hotel staff. Only one was helpful and friendly. Others pretty much let us know we were a bother. Room was adequate for an overnight stay, but had a mildew odor. In the the mid-80's when visiting and the thermostat on the air conditioner did not work. It was either on or off with no... more
While the hotel was in a quiet location it was a long way from the city. Also, there were very few places in the vicinity to eat a meal and the hotel did not have a dining room. The room was comfortable but owing to an inconsiderate guest above us our night was disturbed. We spoke with the night clerk (at 2.00am) who did very littlew to remedy the problem and only after insisting did he agree to... more
good location, friendly/helpful staff (Sophie and Sam), but the room is a bit old and not very clean. (had hair in the bathtub, and the glasses were not that clean either.)
The reception made our stay ok. But the room needs renovations. Its old and dirty. The bed doesnt smell good. But the location is fine, when you go out in the hotel there are buses that can carry you to metrotown shopping mall and where ever you want to go...lots of restaurant in the area... incase you are planning to... more
I checked in very early in the morning (5:30 am) I was happy they would allow an early check in for a $30 extra charge as I was exhausted from travelling. However they would only accept cash for the room deposit which meant a taxi ride to an ATM. What a pain when I was so tired. The room was... more
The price I paid via here was considerably higher than one I was shown when I checked in.Their was no carpet under part of the bed and the bed frame wheels were embedded in pain concrete. No face cloths and almost an empty roll of toilet paper, but another was provided when we asked for it.On the plus side it does have secured parking.
The hotel is dated and many places show sigh of wear and tear. Faucet works but cannot control flow of cold water (full on or dripping). Air conditioner works but cannot set high/low air. Gym room has functional mill, but tirm board is falling apart.Overall, the hotel is a good location with friendly stuff. However, the location is showing its age.
Stayed here for 3 nights (we booked a superior room), upon check in the room was not what we expected booking a better room, it was small, no fridge and had a funny smell. We complained to reception and after viewing a few rooms we moved to another room which we were happier with. The receptionist a young girl, sorry... more
This is a basic hotel, with very helpful staff. It is clean, convenient & inexpensive. It was good for us, who wanted a clean place to sleep & do sight seeing for the whole day
Front desk was friendly and helpful. Great location. Rooms were very clean and quite large. Better than expected for the price. Coffee was strong but nice underground parking and close to metrotown mall!
We stayed here one night. The entire hotel should be levelled and build from scratch. There were stains everywhere even on the lamp shades. The lights flickered as if had ghosts in the room. We opened the sink cabinet for God know what reason and it was as if something had exploded there. Carpet was filthy and we had the... more
ACCOMODATIONS: Well the hotel looks like its dillapidated and falling apart, not well maintained. The room is clean , OK, but again the air con looks old but everything else is good. The bathroom was OK but not really clean. Bed is good, slept well during my stay.
SERVICE: Very nice staff, they are the GEM of the hotel, they...

We planned a last minute trip to Vancouver over Memorial Day weekend. It seemed like a good deal considering the proximity to downtown. I was nervous from reading reviews about the poor conditions of the hotel, but as long as there's no bedbugs or roaches I can deal with an outdated room if it saves me some money. I dont know what kind of miraculous accomadations people expect for $70 a night.... more
The rates are great if you book online via expedia - much cheaper than the front desk rates - and good value for the buck when in a pinch. On a previous stay we had found the place to be a bit dingy, but gave it a 2nd & then a 3rd chance, and on both the latter occasions found... more
Desk staff were great. Free parking and easy entrance from Kingsway. Cost $9 for internet.
Well first of all they lied that the were pet friendly until u get there. They don't speak English and they ripped me off.. We were unsure whether to stay another night and sad we needed a late check out for now ... We were wondering if it was cheaper to go thru you guys well the girl told us to call back at 3 and she would figure it out for us and when the next guy came in he said you guys no... more

the staff were very standoffish, room was in poor shape and not clean, the bed was dressed with minimal old linen and we had to request a comforter, room temperature was near freezing upon entrance, pet fee was more than half of the room cost, I asked to speak to a manger and was told there was no current managers or supervisors associated with the property as they were in transition, upon... more
We've just moved to Vancouver and were looking for renting an apartment but didn't want to be in a hurry, so we booked one-month stay.
Staff are super nice, friendly and helpful.
The room was spacious and clean despite it's a bit old. Air conditioning was perfect.
The location is perfect given that I don't like the busy humming downtown....

The location
Cassandra spots on Kingsway, part of Vancouver's center. A 10-minute walk to the Skytrain and adjacent to millions of restaurants and convenience stores. Also within 2 stops skytrain distance of the Metro Town, VPL and hospital.

The heat was turned off and as I stayed when the temperature outside was cold, it took five hours for the room to heat up to an appropriate temperature. If I was to stay there again I'd arrive earlier to turn on the heat and then come back later when the room wasn't so cold!
Outside the hotel there are ciqarette butts all over the grounds. The hallways are becoming run down. Bathrooms are not cleaned fully, dirty floors and cabinets. Some of the staff speak little English which interfers with the service. I have stayed at the Cassandra many times this past one and half years, and at the current conditions, will not be staying here on my next visit to Vancouver.... more
Everything was great except the whirlpool/sauna were broken for the duration of our stay. Most of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and the location was a 15 min walk or so away from the skytrain, nice neighborhood.
This hotel is quite bizarre..and not in any good way. The hallways smell from being old and not maintained. The room I had was freezing cold and the heater was so old it literally took half the night to get it luke warm. Interesting enough the front room where you check in was toasty warm..everywhere else..not so much. The manager is an odd character too..his approach and attitude is something... more
If I could give less than one star, I would! What they dont tell you online is that there is a $150 deposit! I didn't mind the hold but would like to be notified before. What if I didn't have the money? Already a bad start. But to top it off they checked us into a dirty a@s room, we called the front desk and they told us to wait in the room while they figured it out. 2nd room they tried to put... more
Never will we stay here again. You have to pay $8 for the wireless, the rooms are dirty, full of mold and stink like smoke. Not very friendly staff at all! What a joke! Don't ever stay... more
We stayed there short notice with little option - staff was friendly but room carpet was definitely not clean and the bed was a bit saggy in the middle. Upon arrival we had to leave our bags there and we told to not leave any valuables... Felt safe straight away! The overall condition is good, but the selling machine was off.
A reasonable hotel but a little out from downtown but very accessible by public transport
The location of this hotel was not good at all for our excursions. NO FREE WIFI.
Desk staff was overworked and still working on language skills. Internet service was irregular and frequent shift of password made it unusable for business purposes. Even getting a cab was a stretch for staff.
The room was clean, but everything felt worn. Air conditioning did not work, a bottle cap was stuck in the sink and it did not drain well. The towels were really disappointing, very small and thin. The rates were affordable compared to most other Vancouver hotels, although it is a located a bit far out.
Before we even checked in we were locked in the garage because their were no signs saying to check in before to get a key, by the time we got inside the man at the front desk was very rude. At least the rooms were decently sized and were clean. The neighbourhood around the hotel was one you would not want to walk in at night. The cab to downtown was about $30. When we checked out we had much... more
I was travelling in Vancouver this month. Vancouver was a really nice city in Canada. Fresh air, friendly people and beautiful views. Called 'Hotel' and charged rate likes hotel but is a low quality motel. Internet is charged too
I spent 2 nights for tourism. We were too far from down town and there was no bar nor breakfast in the hotel.
I was a visitor who was traveling in Vancouver at the first time. During I staying in Cassandra Hotel, I found people were so enthusiasm. The gentleman in reception was so patient and the information he gave me was helpful to me. It is a very good experience to me and a wonderful trip in Vancouver.
I had contacted the Cassandra Hotel regarding a room block for my wedding for out of town guests. I was offered a rate which I accepted. I asked for a contract. I was told they don't issue contracts, however, everything had been noted at the front desk, all they had to do was call.
When guests tried to call, the...

Internet is an important information source while traveling, why is it extra? And why are they not upfront about it. There were two internet stations near the lobby - WITHOUT INTERNET CONNECTION! (weird). Angry reception person behind the desk.? NOT RECOMMENDED. It's usually a bonus when a hotel serve breakfast, don't expect it here.
The hotel was okay for the price paid, not very far from the downtown. Kept having problems with the keys, they had to give new ones to us all the time.
We were just looking for a place near the children's hospital for a family situation, so the location was good. It was disappointing though, it wasn't a very comfortable or relaxing place to head back to. It was outdated, and the service was poor. Our bathroom had 2 taps marked cold and the bath tub leaked, the air conditioner was an old school one that clicked on and off (loudly) throughout... more
We payed $160 for one night - definitely not worth that price. The staff at check in couldn't explain their own policy on security deposits. The entire hotel looked dated from the outside and inside. The neighborhood looked a bit dodgy. The only good thing was that the room was very large.
It's definitely rough around the edges, its a little run down, and the staff really don't do anything. When we checked out the girl at the from desk charged us $50 dollars because a bed sheet and a towel were stained ( both of which obviously costed them no more than $5) I guess if your on a budget it's not the worst place you could stay its actually ok if you are able to get past all that.... more
The bathroom had hair in it, they charged a $200 deposit on the rooms that was not mentioned on the website, and the hotel staff were unfriendly.
The room was stuffy and under maintained. the coffee maker and products supplied were subpar. Over paid for the experience due to supply and demand I hope.
the hotel was too expensive for the quality. we paid over $200/night, and the room was dirty (we found an old sock in the living room + hairs all over the bathroom counter). No one came to clean it and we had to call to ask for blankets on our beds. We ended up changing rooms because our TV didn't work, and the second room was much better.
Extremely disappointing and overpriced. Would never stay here again.
This hotel has A LOT of potential, it just needs some help. Price was OK, but I had to pay for WIFI. To compete with other hotels, they should offer free WIFI.
Too expensive, dnt even have water bottle in the room for that price of the room, even no breakfast.. Not close to recommendation of this hotel.. I would have rate 0/5 ..
The hotel was 45 minutes from down town vancouver, the service wasnt to good the only time it was was when one of the lady receptionists was there and that was maybe twice the whole 2 weeks we stayed there, IT COST $8.40 for the first night for wi fi then more costs after that!!! no amenities, condom wrapper found... more

I had initially booked two nights through expedia. We were to spend two nights camping and then two nights at the hotel. However, our trip took a turn for the worse when my son got sick. Our stay was OK but the pictures on the internet and in the brochures were NOT what we found in reality. A big safety factor was the exposed carpet tack strip under the edge of the bed. Apparently a fixed bed base was removed and a standard frame put in and the tack strip was not dealt with. The whole hotel needs a cleaning, painting and upgrade. It is located a $20 cab ride from downtown. The... more

Unfriendly staffs, extra charges for almost everthing. Unreasonable for the price charged.
We booked through Expedia, so the rates were right ;) Walk-in rates are much higher and would have been a total rip-off for the services offered. Had a non smoking room that smelled like a total ash tray . Hotel definitely not worth the price I paid for the night. Only plus is its close to downtown Vancouver.
My wife stayed there about 3 weeks ago. The location was ok. The hotel was ok. However, the morning front desk person was not polite at all to us and other guess. I was first time to travel Canada and I wanted to stay the cheap hotel. It was a little bit far from the downtown, but we had a carT, so it's not too difficult to stay this hotel. We found most things okay - the hotel had a musty smell; almost damp; perhaps from the sauna room. They seemed to be very stingy on the towels/facecloths and the complimentary coffee, tea, sugar and whitener; we had to ask for more and then what we got was almost adequate. They asked for a $200. room deposit which we were surprised by and really not comforatble with. It served the purpose....... more
We just stayed here last weekend and would recommend that you shell out the extra $10 or $20 to stay somewhere else. We knew for the amount we were paying that we would get a basic room, but didn't expect it to be so dingy. This hotel is in very very poor condition. The carpet in the room was stained and it felt dirty. The walls are banged up and the bathtub in particular was in a deploreable state. Given the state of cleanliness I would not consider using the whirlpool. It was a very... more
Our stay was ok. It is clean but... we ran out or toilet paper and they never gave us another roll. The Wiifi was $8.60 a day, to me that was too much as I have stayed in more economical hotels and they give this service for free. Overall it was good, cheap and clean. We had tv and dvd player so it was not bad.
Was not expecting it has everything specially a big TC screen for us to play PS3 :P
Good staff and helpful when check in service such as early service and warm heart attitude.
I Love Cassandra Hotel. Good place to be while your in vancouver for business or pleasure
Was renoed for the Olympics, but could use some TLC currently. Good beds and lack of noise made for good nights sleep. In todays market having to pay extra for internet is questionable. Booked thru Expedia thus good value, walk-in door rates were considerably more.
Definitely the worst hotel stay I have ever seen. When we got there, there was two girls in the lobby telling us not to stay there and that their room was full of cigarettes and stains and hold, and the bed was covered in burn holes. Unfortunately we had already booked online and had to take it. When we got to our room we noticed it was not the room we booked as we booked for 2 queen beds,... more

We stayed at Cassandra 4 nights. The room needs a good scrub. The Bathroom was filthy and I meen things they could clean if they just wanted to.They tend the room only every other day. They did not take out the carbage at one of the times they did.The "fitness room" also couuld use some handling, one of the machines almost broke down as we were using it.The staff was smily and helpful.
It wasn't until I got to Vancouver do I realize the transportation is do easy with a ticket transferable between bus and skytrain.
Stayed at the hotel and got some fabulous service and reception staff to go to places around with my famiy like Metrotown and night market. Had a decent stay, will try again!!
East of Vancouver. Near the light rail. Staff was very friendly. Hotel is old and needs update. They charge for Internet. You also gave to take your own room towels to hot tub. Located in a funky part of town. There are many Asian restaurants nearby. There is also a Starbucks and a Safeway within walking distance. Overall it was alright. I would use it again for a jumping off spot.
We live in Vancouver and booked our stay at the Cassandra because our apartment was being treated for bed bugs and we needed to stay somewhere else. After carefully cleaning all of our things we left to check in at the hotel. They had no record of our reservation at all. I've truly enjoyed my stays at this hotel. The friendly, helpful staff went out of their way to be accommodating to my needs. They had an appreciation that I'd not seen in many places that I've been. Thank you Cassandra Hotel.
Nice location, near skytrain and pet friendly hotel :)
The Cassandra is a good place to stay, as it is within a quarter of an hour's drive from pretty much everything you might want to see in the Vancouver area. Pretty nice place to stay. And great price. Clean environment. Good front desk services.
Been to this hotel two years in a row, and probably a third.
Staff - friendly and courteous.
Room - rather large for the price, loved the microwave and mini-fridge. Bed was comfy and the TV got American channels (weird watching a channel from Georgia (USA) in Canada) and major Canadian channels.

Fine hotel, large room, en-suite bathroom. Flat screen TV and DVD player. Iron and board in room. A little bit out of town, but a couple of blocks from the Skytrain and good bus links close by to Downtown.
Main criticism was lack of knowledge from the receptionist. But nothing that serious and wouldn't stop me staying again.
Strong mildew smell as soon as we walked into the lobby. Restaurant has been closed for a while with no notice, explanation or apology. Drywall missing or patched and unfinished in the hallways. Dirty carpets. Stained bed linens. Could hear the people walking loudly in the room overhead. This was a dive with pretentions of being something better.
My husband and I booked that hotel for our honeymoon. My husband was just recovering from stomach surgery and was feeling pretty sick when we checked in. He went to the vehicle to get his credit card and the receptionist made a comment about how grumpy he was. I thought that was very out of line. When we got to... more
The price was good, and the access to public transportation was great. The location wasn't the best, since it's far from downtown (but, as I said, you can use public transportation easily enough. Dirty carpet everywhere, room, halls. Mold in shower stall & curtain. Had the old bldg. smell goin' on. Don't waste your money here.
I would not recommend this hotel and I would never go back! When I arrived at the hotel they tried to charge me a higher rate than what I booked it for online. The room was dirty and only had 1 blanket and 1 towel and the pillow smelled like mold. Also the front desk was calling our room at... more

this hotel is not worth the money!!! Needs renovation badly! By far the worst hotel I have stayed in while in Canada, A very unpleasant surprise was the 150 $ "deposit" they had put on my credit card, despite the fact that I have already paid for the room through "Orbitz". Rooms have the 1950's feeling and bathroom needs cleaning.
Just what i was looking for, cheep comfortable and just a short walk away from the sky train. The staff was helpful and nice and the room was clean and not shabby. The only weird part was the breakfast, could be a bit healthier it was a little too sweet for my taste. But other than that it great!
The hotel looks nice from outside, the room was decent and clean. We got upgraded to one that got a view of the mountain side which was really nice.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I found it online and four of us stayed for about $72 with all the fees. Overall a great value and good for someone on a budget.

When we first walked in their were hairs in the bathtub. They were sawing into the ceiling in the hall outside our room at 4am to look for a leaking pipe. But they didn't have any problem with our dog and they didn't charge any extra fee either. Location was very convenient.
Sitting on the outskirts of an area reminicent of Chinatown, the Cassandra Hotel serves as an inexpensive option for tired travelers.
Booking through hotels.com, I snagged a superior queen room for a mere $58 after tax and fees.
The lobby staff was definitely new, it took a bit of training and shuffling around to get things squared away, but they were nice and apologetic- and it's not like I...

nothing particularly great or bad about this hotel. located too far outside vancouver, so a pain to drive in to. however, within walking distance of skytrain, which will drop you right in the middle of downtown, so that's good. bed wasn't that comfortable. secure parking and room access, rooms were a bit small, nothing fancy, but it worked for our purposes.
very nice. Staff very helpful and friendly. Location was convient especially the parking.
Horrible experience. I did not sleep a wink in this hotel. Next time I go, I will spend a bit more and get a nice hotel anywhere but in this part of town. Very smelly!!
It's big enough and very confortable room for this reasonable price.
The hotel staff ([...]) are very helpful and kind to me. [...] helps me to get around the city and nice location to visit and how to use skytrain. I think I am lucky on this trip.
Friendly staff, but service requests never get fulfilled. Last trip, noisy fan wasn't fixed. This time 2 squeaky doors. They note it, but nothing is done. Still, pretty good place. Great rates, good location.
Friendly & helpful staff, but noisy bathroom fan never got fixed. Towels won't be replaced unless left on the floor.
The staff was disorganized about the check-in. Myself and my other guest arrived at different times, and they collected deposits from both of us and gave us each extra sets of keys. At first they weren't even going to let me check in because the reservation was under the other guest's name, although I had called a week in advance to let them know I'd be arriving early. It was a cheap hotel... more
We were looking for an overnight accommodations due to a college visit. Very disappointed in this hotel although a bit expensive. Carpet was stained in many places. Pillow cases were stained. Bathroom was outdated and in need of some repair. Blankets had a smell to them. Air conditioner was very noisy but when we tried to turn it off, the room became extremely stuffy. Could hear other people in... more
This is a very mediocre hotel which suffers from poor maintenance and housekeeping. We had to change rooms because of plumbing problems and excessive noise coming from the rooms above us. A room on the third floor is a must. This hotel does not provide free internet and tried to charge us $3.50 a day for Wi-Fi. We negotiated 4 free hours however. On our third day of a four day stay our room... more
staffs are friendly.good rest in the quiet surroundings.AC TV needs to up-grade.
The room stunk, and the windows did not open. Three of the four bed pillows had blood stains on the cases. There was a tampon wrapper on the floor. And the tap in the bathroom sink made a very loud banging sound and gave no water. There is only one elevator, which is small, slow and dirty. The neighborhood Safeway store had security guards at the doors.
A good value for the price. Room was comfortable, not cramped. The microwave and fridge were very handy. Located within walking distance of the free sky train - great for visiting downtown vancouver. The neighborhood was ethnic and working class - interesting, but not much to see and do. The underground parking garage was also a nice feature. The attached resturant always seemed to be... more
The Cassandra Hotel seems a bit remote from downtown Vancouver at first, but it's actually a blessing in disguise. Located in a nice residential neighborhood, the rooms are good for the price and, if you get a room facing the mountains, it will afford you picturesque views to dream by. If you don't know where to visit, just ask the super friendly staff who were very helpful and hospitable. If... more
1. It was clean.
They provided us a clean room and well secured condition of properties during our trip for a week. And i got my suit back which i left in my room.So they sent it back to me by mailing. I strongly recommed this hotel to anybody who are planning to trip vancouver. And it is located quite close to vancouver downtown.
It was very poor about services such as resturant for breakfast or dinner .It had old bath room with poor quality about services . I know it isnt 5 star hotel , but has a problem with 3.5 stars that they show in hotels lobby.
The hotel is located a ways from downtown Vancouver, but it is easy to get there on the skytrain or bus. Our room was comfortable, larger than expected and clean with air conditioning, refrigerator and plenty of amenities for three of us. We spent two nights and appreciated the quiet in the hotel and the helpfulness of the staff. We enjoyed the location in the Collingwoods neighborhood which... more
