Few restaurants in eastern Canada can match the food or prices at La Baccara, which is tucked into a quiet corner on the third floor of the newish Casino du Lac-Leamy just outside Ottawa proper. This is your splurge night, if you're coming to Ottawa to do the town large. It has all the requisites: the harpist, views of the lake and the city skyline, upholstered armchairs, gold-velvet drapes,... more
Typical casino. The staff working the games are friendly, as they should. It is also clean which is nice. My only complaint is the bar in the middle of the casino. The server way over charged us and gave us the wrong drinks. When he saw the mistake he asked if we wanted to buy the drinks, since we had already had a sip and didn't give us any money back since we grossly over paid for our drinks.... more
Let's all just acknowledge the fact that I have never been to Vegas. If I had, this probably would rate around a 2 or 3, but for my gambling experience, it was decent (more of a 3.5, but hey, why not round up?).

I haven't been to the casino in a real long time but I recently checked it out and had an amazing time with some friends.
They moved to the main bar in the centre and you can get your own juice and soft drinks at different stations around the casino. They still have a person come around if you want coffee or an alcoholic drink.
They no longer take quarters at the slots, instead you insert a...

While lately in Ottawa, we were dependent on taxi's. A relatively short drive from our hotel--worth the trip. Beautifully appointed restaurant and impeccable service. Our table was perfect! The food was elegant and well presented. Enviable wine list.
The casino itself is nice and very modern/swanky inside, and they have a good number of slot machines and selection. However, I didn't like that they put all the 25 cent video poker machines on the second floor. Also, it was weird that they don't give you physical chips for blackjack anymore, and you have to play half with physical cards and half on a touch screen with virtual cards and chips.... more
We did not gamble but rather walked around to see the building. There is a 5 star gourmet restaurant , Baccara, reached in the back of the casino via a glass elevator to the 3rd floor. They are doing a lot of rénovations. The decoration at the new bar is very cool. Shows presented at the theatre are great. Gambling: you decide if you like it or not. My husband and I go to the Casino du Lac Leamy once or twice a year and we have always enjoyed our evening. I don't know why I didn't like this Casino there was just something about it. I really enjoyed the OLG casino in Rideau much better. The casino at Rideau Carleton Raceway... more
We recently went to see the Piano Men. The tickets were free which was a good thing. The show was not very good and people were walking out. The food is second rate at first rate prices. Very disappointed in the overall experience. Now I remember why I only go to see a show there every 4 or 5 years.
I hate feeling like an out-of- towner, not knowing where to eat, going to the closest thing to our hotel.
We were at the Hilton and wanted to try the Surf and Turf buffet prominently displayed in front of the restaurant.
There was very little surf and only one kind of turf, small pre-cut steak slices.
The food was very bland, no high end items like smoked salmon, it's about $30 for the night...

Machines are tight and rarely pay anything, it sucks. Don't like coming here. The mood is also depressing as nobody looks happy.
Food and drink were fairly expensive, however that's pretty much how it is at every casino I've been to. I'm not much of a gambler so I can't really comment on the quality of the dealers or the machines. The selection of games open were fairly limited, however that was probably because I went during a weekday. I didn't really care all that much for the 'doom and gloom' vibe I was getting from... more
This Casino is under renovations but that didn't take away from our time there. My husband and myself both enjoyed the electronic black jack area. Food avaible on the trays was of poor quality and cheap material. The price we paid was four times higher than what you pay for an oriental buffet for a food quality much worse. Le Baccara is an exceptional restaurant and as close to a Michelin-starred restaurant you will find in the Ottawa area. The menu is not for the faint of heart - it has many unique features such as bison and duck - but there is sufficient variety to satisfy most tastes.

The worst rake in North America. Inept Management, a useless union that ensures seniority entrenched jaded and lazy workers are rewarded rather than the hardest workers. Lac Leamy is a perfect little microcosm of what is wrong with Quebec.
There is no competition across the river. The Lac Leamy has a monopoly.
Very nice restaurant in the Casino. Was taken out for dinner there and it was excellent. High end but great service, great presentation and great food!
This restaurant is one of five rated 5 diamonds by CAA, in Canada. On a second, more sober visit, I saw the deficiencies. A cigar is a great place to meet up with treps. Lac Leamy is a little kept secret on the Quebec side of the Ottawa Area. Gorgeous view of the city overlooking the river. A cozy little hide away.
This Casino is very clean and up-scale. US casinos should learn from the smoke-free casinos of Canada. Options for dining and large gaming areas provide entertainment until the money runs out.
