This is good place to go to for good grilled food. We tried out a number of different grilled items and every one of them was good. The side orders were not so great, though. The place is pleasant and the staff is quite nice.
I was in Ottawa on business and met associates for lunch at the Carleton Grill which is right downtown in the heart of the business district.
Service was very good. our waiter did not rush us and recommended the daily lunch special which on this day was smoked salmon.
Excellent food at a fair price. quite atmosphere conducive for a...

We had a very nice dinner with friends. The steak was perfectly cooked, the black cod was tasty, the porc roast just great. It is a bit pricy but very good.
Some of the words used here deliberately paraphrase the self description done by Sheraton: we do this on purpose, to underscore how true their choice of words is. As a couple, we keep going back because it is "memorable" every time. Today was a special event buffet with full assortment of " fabulous food" and affordable wine. Chef Filliodeau and... more
It is by far the best lunch time buffet experience in downtown Ottawa. The food is always fresh - new menu each day - with a carvery. The buffet has a good selection and the desserts are excellent. Compared to similar standard to restaurants, it is very reasonably priced. We go there for work related functions and highly recommend it.
We had a group of 12 who went for a valentines dinner on Feb 14 for a prix fixe menu. The service was awful. We waited 30 minutes to even get drinks and the appetizer took an hour to come, entree was 2 hours, dessert was 3 hours. The food was poorly cooked; they made the kids wait for their... more
Chef Frédéric Filliodeau's new Carleton Grill Gourmet Club, on the first Friday of the month is fantastic. With his wonderful team he created a delicious and creative menu of 6 service that you can pair with his wine selection at a most reasonable price. We had a great time and enjoyed very much the service of Dariusz and Mélanie. Attend... more
It was amazing. Not many choices for the mains but very high quality. Special mention of the delicious Tilapia and Grilled Jumbo Shrimp (cooked fresh) and a nice array of side dishes and unique salads. The desserts were oustanding especially the luscious chocolate cake. It was such a nice break during the work day. Thank you to the staff and... more
I frequently host colleagues and clients for lunch at the Carleton Grill. Location is convenient, lunch buffet and service are excellent. Closest experience to a private club I've found, excellent value for my money. That's why I keep coming back. Always a disappointment when the buffet shuts down for the season, but always something to look forward to when it... more
A word about Carleton Grill where the grill feature is gradually mutating to haute cuisine. Our Mother’s day brunch provided an excellent illustration of this move by Executive Chef Frederic Filliodeau. Newly arrived, he is truly reshaping the menu and presentation in a French way. The brunch was less focused on appeasing raw hunger and more on an impressionist sensual... more
Since the ruination of Hy's Bar (see separate review), the lawyers who lunch have had to find other digs. Sasha's Bar -- attached to the Carleton Grill in the Sheraton Hotel is a contender.
I've been to the Sheraton 20 times for meetings, etc. and could not have told you what the restaurant was called or even if it had a bar.
Turns out appearances can be deceiving.
I enjoyed a wonderful lunch...
