Visiting the automotive museum was great fun. I am personally not a car enthusiast, but really enjoyed seeing all the antique vehicles on display and learning more about the automotive history of Oshawa.
For a small fee you can wonder around this little museum showing really old cars and some real nostalgia. Most cars are donated and are in original condition. There is also a whole section which features Canadian made cars and motorcycles. It was worth the trip and the 5$ to visit the museum.
This is an incredible amount of history if you are a real car nut. There are a lot of displays crammed into one another. I took a real car buff with me and he was fascinated but there is a lot to root through and if you are there in the dead heat of the summer, it is ungodly hot... more
This is a smaller museum and seemed a little cramped. The displays are worth seeing if you are into the 'older era', and the admission price is very low. It's definitely something to at least visit, but I wouldn't necessarily go repeatedly.
The visit to this museum was bittersweet: it is housed in an old Chevy Dealership in downtown Oshawa and it is OVER-loaded with cars, so much so that they are packed into every corner. Some you can only view from afar. There were so many on the second floor that I honestly was concerned about all that weight on those... more
This place reminds me of a Clint Eastwood movie, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. First the good: It was only $5. It has old cars, many original and unrestored. For a gearhead like me, that part was pretty good plus there was lots of vintage non-automotive items there. I also enjoyed the idea that they used a vintage... more
We visit this museum last fall during the open doors of Ontario , it was excellent and educational for all of us. It definetly something to see. It is like walking back in the past including the building itself. enjoy.
If you like to see cars from the beginning of time this is your place. See Royals Royce, Jaguar ,
Model T's , Harley's and much more. A must see!
I am a major car freak, and after an absence of several decades, I really wanted to return to the Canadian Automotive Museum in Oshawa. I managed to talk my young daughter into accompanying me, and guess what, she loved it! We've been back a couple of times since, and it is always a great time. To a cynical eye... more
We travel a lot and with so many places going interactive my kids were not happy to just look, the highlight for them was a mirror from a fun house. Even having one car to sit in would have made it much more enjoyable.
Lots of cool cars, the right amount of info for an adult but it was dark,...

A must for those with any interest in automotive history or history in general. Definitely a nice way to spend an hour or so and only a short walk from the centre of town with its fine restaurants and pubs.
We took some out of town friends to tour the museum about 2 years ago. We found it to be very interesting but we are "car people" we all own old cars. If you are interested in cars, it's a good place to spend a couple of hours.
a fabulous collection of great old cars and it is NEVER too crowded or noisy. check this museum out when in oshawa, it is a pleasant visit if you are an auto enthusiast. very informative little place!!
I went here last summer. It's bigger inside than it first appears. If you are interested in cars it is definitely worth a visit. I have to say, it was a little unkempt when I was there. It seemed disorganized. Overall though it was a great place for a first date :)
A great museum with lots of cars, trucks and oher artifacts, informative displays, friendly staff and a really cool building that houses it all. My tour took about an hour and a half, but you could rush through it in about 40 minutes or spend an afternoon if you have time to kill. I highly recommend you check it out!
There are lots of vintage automobile, gas station collectables, motorcycles, vintage radios to see.
While photography is allowed the lighting is a little hard to work around.
I have visited a couple of times.
Admission is only $5.00 and it is right near Oshawa downtown.
A must see for any car enthusiast. Large array of some of the most beautiful vintage cars. Its well worth visiting if in town.
If you like cars, this is the place to visit. Some of the most iconic cars in Canada are located here. Priceless antiques and some "different" brands are located in downtown Oshawa.
a lot of interesting cars, it's is interesting to see and read about the cars of the past
Should you visit? Are you a car enthusiast? Are an avid photographer? Do you like museums in general?
If you answered yes to one of the first 3 and yes to the fourth then, yes, you should visit.
The museum is in downtown Oshawa, across the street from Memorial Park. There is free parking. It's in a heritage building that...

The best automotive history museum with insight into the industry that fuelled the surronding area. Very interesting for car buffs or those who enjoy local history.
I liked taking a look in and at all the awesme old fashioned cars stop here if ou re passing through oshawa
If you like old cars this is a very small museum on a couple of levels. Many if not most of the display items are donated which says a lot about their value as exhibits. The place is quite dusty and it doesn't take very long to navigate the entire display. In its favour I must say it doesn't cost... more
A group of Oshawa businessmen established the Canadian Automotive Museum in 1961, to promote the glorious history of the Canadian automobile industry. Spread across two stories, the top story is dedicated to showcasing Canadian made vehicles, while the lower floors exhibits international cars, with the oldest exhibit dating back to the late 19th Century. Visitors can view local makes like Galt... more
