Cajun food carries many stereotypes: that it is hot and spicy, most of it is blackened, and all the food in Louisiana is made by Emeril himself. While the food is distinct, it isn't for these reasons, and the Cajun House adeptly proves the stereotypes wrong. Instead, what makes cajun food stand out is the combination of French heritage with local ingredients, and a more rustic cooking style. ... more
we were hungry and found this place to be exactly what we needed, good food, good price, the service was good, its always nice to find a small gem
This is both my husband's and my favourite restaurant! We love the cheesecake dessert. Ask your server there, and they'll know exactly what we're talking about. I've never had a bad dish!
We had an early reservation, but by the time we left every table was occupied. Despite being packed we found it easy to carry on polite diner conversation at a normal tone. The menu provides many choices and we both found our servings larger that we are accustomed to eating. In the future we will probably order the half portions... more
We have been here multiple times over the years. It keeps drawing us back. We have tried just about everything on the menu. I always gravitate to the Seafood Jambalaya. The staff are very attentive. The menu includes as many locally sourced ingredients as possible, other than the salt water sea food which is a problem to a land locked... more
Food is always good, staff is great. Been a few times and never disappointed. Can be a bit pricey but worth it.
Will be going to again in the future!
What a great restaurant! We went with an extended family group and we all had delicious meals. The petite portion meals are a great addition to any menu and more restaurants should take note. My salmon melted in my mouth and the sauce was superb. The meal came with a generous helping of interesting vegetables which were cooked perfectly. I... more
Definitely eat here, you'll love it as I did! Couldn't decide which part of my meal I liked the best!
This is a great restaurant with an incredible menu. I've been eating here for years and I've never been disappointed.
My only request would be that they add some new items to the menu for people like me. But otherwise, keep up the good work!
Great little cafe - we love it there. Friendly people, good coffee, nice food and a small selection of beer and wine. Nice to sit outside next to the river and the farmers' market on a Saturday
This place has been here for years and it always has been an eating place that is consistently great. The portions are big and full of flavor. Service is excellent and atmosphere pleasing. You never get tired of frequenting this restaurant. Good value for your money and not over priced.
The Cajun House has been the restaurant of choice for get-togethers with friends. The food is always good and the petite size portion has plenty of food for most diners. The salads are delicious and we like ordering the entree size salads and soup (a favourite soup is the Corn Crab Chowder). The past few times we have been there,... more
unfortunately this restaurant had to close its doors due to lease problems they will be missed in the community as they did provide live music
Always know that a meal at the Cajun House is always consistent with great service!
Staple restaurant in St. Albert
This restaurant has a nice atmosphere day-time or evening. The tastes are wonderful. I like the soup, salad, and half-entree so I could experience more of the things on the menu.
Consistently one of St. Albert's finest restaurants, the Cajun House has a great selection of cajun foods together with great and friendly service and a nice environment. The complete menu contains all very good dishes at a very affordable price. It works as a romanitic restaurant as well as a good family place. Parking can sometimes be limited.
One of my favorite restaurants. I highly recommend the Chicken Munroe with the garlic pasta and seasoned veggies.
this is my "go to" restaurant for any and every occasion. Guests and friends love the food and the staff are absolutely superb. We can never say enough good things. The petit portion option is the perfect size meal. Everyone HAS to go here - honestly! Good for families, couples, friends and business.
Loved seeing some of my favorites from NOLA on the menu. Had the muffaletta (not as good as the original, but pretty darn close), the mussels were our appie (delicious) and for dessert we all tried a different one. The cheesecake baked in filo was the clear winner. I could just eat one as my main and one as my... more
The Cajun House is our #! favourite restaurant! It is always consistent in food, presentation, service and atmosphere. One of the best things about The Cajun House is that often they will have a special menu as well as their regular menu so your menu choices are never limited.
Everything is super good - our must haves is the caesar...

For a real treat, try this out. It's my personal favorite in St. Albert. Food is always good and a great variety.
The restaurant was about 1/2 empty when we went for lunch today. There was no one at the reception. We waited for about 5 minutes before anyone came to seat us. We were then seated in a bright section of the restaurant. After that the service was pretty good.
My Mom and I shared a Caesar salad and coconut shrimp...

Excellent food - well presented and reasonably priced . I've recommended this restaurant to numerous folks and will continue to do so.....Happy Fat Tuesday
Over the years we have eaten here many times...whether with colleagues, friends or family,
the food, service and atmosphere are something we know we can count on.
Always a good meal at a fair price. Nice that you can get 1/2 orders if you are not very hungry. Great ceasar salad dressing and the jambalaya and frogs legs are really, really good. Staff is very friendly and attentive and as others say, it is always busy so a reservation is recommended but they will do what they... more
Over the past ten years we have probably gone to the Cajun House ten times. The biggest compliment I can give them is that they are steady and consistent in their food, service and wine selection. There are staff there that have been there since the restaurant opened, the same can be said about their menu. It doesn't change much,... more
We have lived in St. Albert for more than 20 years. We have dined at this restaurant many times and it remains our favorite in St. Albert.
Menu offers regular and smaller portions for many items. We have never been disappointed with the preparation and taste of the food. The service has always been commendable from staff that seems to...

The food is good and menu has a lot of options. The service is decent but a reservation is recommended. The atmosphere is nice with very few children.
Ate here a couple tImes in the last few months, latest last night, saturday.
Place was packed at seven pm when we arrived.
Had a booth at the back which was a great spot. Service was excellent. Meals were hot, served in a timely manner, as ordered, and very tasty.
Left full and leftovers for lunch today! :-)
Highly recommended
Friend from Louisiana stamped "approved" for the Cajun House. Good atmosphere, food, and service. We had wine recommended by our waiter which paired very well with the spices. The tables were full but the service was timely. We didn't have to wait an usual amount of time yo get our food
The Cajun house is a favourite lunch spot with a warm and friendly atmosphere and a tasty lunch menu. The Po-boy offerings are excellent and the soups and salads make for a most enjoyable lunch. A favourite is the Shrimp Po-boy along with a small butter lettuce salad and a shrimp or lobster bisque soup. Staff are happy to substitute... more
I enjoy going to the Cajun House and if a friend is looking to eat somewhere different, I will suggest it. I really like the P-Boys, but my favorite dish is the pork medallions,- they are extremely tasty. Another good idea is that larger and smaller portions are offered, so you don't have to "over-stuff" yourself!
For lunch the Cajun house cooks up great Po-Boys & Lobster Bisque and delivers with friendly helpful service.
I tend to be wary of restaurants with over worn carpet and brass push plates on bathroom doors, something about seeing fifty other smeary finger prints puts me off. So on a first impression, this spot didn't win me. I had read the other reviews previous and was excited but was let down by the food quality. This is no... more
90%liked???? You've got to be kidding me.. Other than the lemonade which was good, this place doesn't even know what a panini is! Tuna melt had about a teaspoon of tuna and the cheese wasn't even melted.. My friend had the ham artichoke panini with no artichoke and again no melt.. On top of that, the salad was comprised of about 7 leafs.. And it all took over 20 minutes to arrive.. Worst... more
We have been here 30 + times. Have taken many friends from town and out of town. Food is great service just as good. Fresh ingredients all day every day. You have to have the warm cheese cake for desert!!
Whether you choose something off of the menu, as my husband did, or have the special of the day you are in for a very enjoyable casual meal.
Cajun food is among my favourite meals and I've been to New Orleans several times over the past 40 years, latest last month. While I have eaten at many quite famous and superlative N.O. restaurants, this restaurant maintains a highly authentic flavour and range of dishes. I like many of them but my (our) favourite is the snapper with crawfish... more
The food is fresh and delicious. Staff are prompt and courteous. We eat here all the time and have never had a bad meal or bad service!
This is a Higher end restaurant so don't expect to be in and out in an hour. Great food and friendly service! Only complaint is the location has limited parking.
Certainly a very awesome place to chill at with your buddies. The manager is a very nice guy and the food there is quite good! I have to say that I was really surprised by the quality of the food and the exotic beers that they offered.
Have not been to New Orleans, so I cannot comment on how authentic this meal was.
Started with the shrimp bisque, too subtle of a taste and the thickness of the soup was not from cream...corn starch or flour.
My wife's seafood gumbo was the better choice.
I had the cajun combo plate - beans and sausage, shrimp creole, Louisiana...

Just had dinner two nights ago (Saturday).
Four of us dined and everything was great, both food and service. Had the halibut special, but over the years have essentially had everything on the menu. We go every second month or so.
Consistently good, and no hesitation to recommend
Out for supper last night with my son, just a chance to catch up on our own... and had a fantastic meal. Of course, you gotta try their seafood gumbo... ask for bread or be prepared to lick the bowl... and I tried their special (seared snapper) and my son had their shrimp po-boy... we had decided we'd share, and... more
Myself and friend chose from the March special menu featuring shrimp. We both had the smokey tomato and vegetable soup, which was very good. My friend had a shrimp and pilaf appetizer which was enough for a lunch entree. She said it was excellent. I had a petite portion of snapper, with loads of vegetables, it was very good. We... more
The Menu offers good selection of Meats, Fish and Seafood with a Cajun flair. I really like the Red Snapper Etouffee but will often choose the daily seafood special. Many menu items are offered in regular or the petite size which is actually a nice sized meal. There are 3 dining areas: the main area is fronted by large windows... more
The size of the resturant is small and cozy. The food was very good and the cost reasonable. The waitress was pleasent. There was no problems with parking.
The Cajun House was the first restaurant we went to over 15 years ago when we first arrived in Western Canada. It was good back then and has maintained it "gotta go back" draw. There is always a special on the menu which won't disappoint and something you don't see anymore is the half portions as an option. The jambalaya... more
I have been coming to the Cajun House since they first opened and have liked every single meal and experience to date. Whether it be the regular menu or their seasonal specials, the food, drink and Staff are excellent. The prices have always been reasonable and the portions generous.
I have dined at this restaurant many times throughout the years. It never disappoints!
Some favourites include: the pecan chicken, jambalaya, po-boys and the mussels. But I have to say my favourite is their seafood gumbo. I have never tasted better and the service is always fantastic. Some servers have been there for 10+ years. They must be doing something...

VERY good meal, excellent service! My boyfriend and I went there for dinner and they were very professional and the food was out of this world. I'm not a huge fan of cajun or spicy so they held back on the spice for me. We both had the salmon with pasta and it was very well done!
The restaurant had excellent service. I found the menu somewhat restricted though given the time constraints of a business lunch.
Good food and friendly service. I had the chicken and sausage gumbo, which was delicious. My husband really liked the pasta jambalaya. Well priced and huge selection. Definitely will return.
I liked the food here :) You will certainly enjoy yourself.
This is our favourite restaurant. The menu is varied enough to suit nearly any taste, and the prices are more than reasonable.
Avery good hit when dining out. Fair sizedportions for your dollar and it is served fresh and hot. I will be back.
Love, love , love this place. I have been there once but its left a lasting memory. They have great dishes to choose from and servings are huge to say the least.
