have visited this historical house a few times and am in awe over the retention of all of the artifacts and construction being kept up. This was a Christmas visit o the whole house was open for the function.

Country Cooking at it's Finest

This is one of the Island's secrets ... and deserves to be better known!
The chef focuses on rather limited but varied menu items ... with all specialties featuring local veggies and meats professionally prepared in a cozy, country setting. Their three course menu is inexpensive, delicious and and exceptional value ... it's always country cooking at it's finest!

Well worth the stop for Lunch, but call ahead, as they are often full (it's 2 small rooms). Most of everything is made in the kitchen, and the desserts are fantastic. Great place for couples. Lunch is an exceptional value for the price. Dinner (only a few nights a week) is a bit more expensive, but still worth it. My... more

Entering Maplethorpe will take you back... It may feel like visiting an Island farm kitchen of the 1950s. At least that is the image I had. If you get a table in the dining room you should be able to see into the kitchen around the corner.

went based on recommendation - turned out lovely - excellent cooking, real fresh local ingredients make the difference! the desserts were to die for with an awesome espresso brownie torte.
