We strolled the streets and came across the very fine restaurant. Although the Duck and Frog Legs were frozen, the atmosphere, appetizers, soup and dessert were fantastic. The owner recommended the the beouf special, but we wanted to try the traditional.
I would recommend a second try and the special of the day.
The food here is distinctly and authentically French. The atmosphere is festive and the service was decent enough that it warrants a 4 star. I had the escargot and bouillabaisse. While the escargot was very rich and tasty, the bouillabaisse was not as flavorful as I hope. Overall, the total experience was quite enjoyable.
Servers were honestly quite creepy and overbearing to myself and the 5 ladies I was with. Food was overpriced and small portions that weren't anything special. Not surprised that the place wasn't very populated.
Wouldn't recommend.
This place is pretty good.
Being in the "old city" of Quebec, this restaurant cashes in on the city's French heritage.
Management and waitstaff is very friendly and helpful. They do not act overly familiar. The manager occasionally checks on every table to make sure everything is going well - a good sign that they care about good service and customer satisfaction.
We each got the table d'hote,...

After checking in to our hotel my boyfriend and I strolled the streets of Quebec. We looked at the menu and felt confident we would get a great meal... Plus my boyfriend wanted escargot. We sat near the window and sipped on amazing French wine. The escargot was fabulous. It was flavorful with lumps of snail wanting to be eaten. We ordered chateaubriand and it was by far hands down delicious! It... plus
Had the lunch special with soup, steak frites and cake.
It took a very long time Before I got the soup served. Man, that should be easy as it was a daily special. The steak frites then... The steak was quite tasteless but the fries were good. Service was ok.
I don't know how it is having dinner here... I don't think I will come back and find out.
The escargots were sublime. The chateaubriand was marvelous. Pair it with a good glass of rouge and you have the perfect combination of French cuisine. Add in a distinctly Gaelic setting and a guitarist singing "La Vie en Rose" and you have a night to remember. Laissez le bon temps rouler.
My wife and I have been coming to Québec City for over 30 years. One of the things we look forward to is the cuisine. We selected this restaurant because it was one of very few that had Beef Wellington on the menu. I was looking forward to an exquisite dining experience, but what we got fell well short of that. The vegetables were extremely overcooked. The pastry on the Wellington was soggy.... plus
Ugh. Ten days in la belle province and this was hands down the most disappointing evening. The tiny portions, the accordion player who never shut up, the all male staff who were always just a little too brusque. Dare I say this place needs a woman's touch? The manager comes around inquiring about your meal and you just want to scream at him "why are you bringing your stench of stale cigarette... plus
Tried the l'inspiration (combination 3 course meal). The food was not impressive. The appetizer with the escargots was very good. The desserts were subpar. Even Marie Callendar's apple pie beat their pie hands down. Nice ambience with the French guitarist singing French love songs. Look for the oversized pepper shaker.=)
My husband and I selected this restaurant for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. The decor was charming, the food delicious and the service superb!! We especially liked the complimentary flaming Ouzo at the end of the meal.
I went for the set menu here and chose the beef soup, followed by lamb chops (cooked medium) with a drink. The beef soup was ok, stock cubes melted into hot water, with some chopped onion. The main meal came as three small pieces of lamb, with two halfs of potato. The lamb was mostly bone and grisle, and amazingly... plus
We stopped in for lunch. It was tasty and affordable. The staff was very nice and the atmosphere was welcoming.
Fair warning: we didn't eat anything during our visit. We did, however, slip in to get out of the cold and get a beverage. We opted for the Irish Coffee, which we realized later was a bit more expensive than expected...because it was so much more than a drink. It was an experience. Call us lame, easily-amused Americans, but we loved our experience here. The waiter flambéed the drinks while we... plus
While travelling from Australia, and visiting beautiful Quebec City we were caught in a downpour on a cold day in mid October, when we arrived at the restaurant the owner Joseph could see we were cold so started the fireplace roaring and we had a warming glass of red in our hand in no time. Our afternoon was a very... plus
After a day of exploring the city we walked into the restaurant as a large group arrived. Despite the volume of diners, service was attentive, atmosphere pleasing with a guitarist serenading the patrons. A fabulous chateaubriand finished table side accompanied by a good bottle of red wine ended the day off well.
I had a lovely dinner at this small gem in Quebec City. I was drawn in on a cold night by a charming young woman and was glad that I responded positively to her invitation. The menu was extensive and I was able to find the traditional Quebecois items that I was seeking. The best part of the experience, however,... plus
We found this place, located a little away from a busy 'main" street in town and got more than expected from touristy quarter. meal was very well prepared and served on-time, staff was pleasantly helpful, nice wine selection, great live music (guitar), great ambiance and decor. Would recommend to visit!
Good food, nice atmosphere. Service a little slow as so busy but food reasonably priced. Nothing fancy. The chef likes salt!
Enjoyed our lunch here. Good soup and entree. Price a little below Old town average. My wife had veal and I had a chicken dish with mushrooms. Right on Rue Saint Louis near Ursuline Convent
My wife and I stopped by the Cafe de Paris restaurant for lunch while visiting Old Quebec City. The owner greeted us warmly upon entering and was very engaging throughout our stay.
We ordered a lunch special which was absolutely outstanding and very reasonably priced. I had the tomato bisque soup which was very tasty. It was followed by the baked sea food plate which consisted of bay shrimp....

Given its location in the heart of tourist central, our expectations were not high, and we certainly weren't surprised to find fomulaic, not particularly fresh or flavourful cooking from a way-too-lengthy menu. We had literally just arrived in town, hungry, and wanted food like immediately.
Hard to tell what the national theme here was either. French? Italian? Mediterranean? A little...

We ate there several nights. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Staff were friendly and full bilingual.
We went for a late dinner, the place was very noisy, not by the clients but the personal. We had 4 different waiters taking our order. No coordination between the personal. The place is a zoo of people that don't seem to know how to run a restaurant. One of the waiters seem to have drink too much. He was... plus
It was a raw and rainy day the day we happened on this sweet little place. It was like we had been transported to Europe! A fire going in the fire place, a small group having a late lunch. Lovely restaurant. The meals were good, took a bit of time to get them. Very small portions. They had a nice... plus
We had lunch there with a lovely seafood bake, great service and the best chocolate cake ever! It was more like a mousse and I'd go back in a minute just for that.
We found the very popular Café de Paris to be a great restaurant for dinner. It is quaint and the host is a super person with a great sense of humour - has his guests laughing. There is a guitar player and singer who is very entertaining and has a great voice. The food is fantastic and the menu has... plus
Thank my lucky stars I didn't miss this hidden gem of a restaurant while in Quebec City. The meal was delicious but the atmosphere devine! As I peered through the rainy window and saw white candlesticks stuck in wine bottles that dressed the tables, I knew this was the place for me! Better yet, when we went inside we were... plus
Chewy lobster in the bisque, bland crust and tasteless cheese on the pizza, and unattentive server. Owner was nice, but that is the only positive thing to say about this very overpriced establishment.
I was not impressed at all. The server was inattentive and bordering on rude. He never came to offer more water or check how the meal was. The food was not good at all. I had duck a l'orange and it was dried out, overcooked duck with a sauce on the side. The salad was no better than a McDonald's... plus
The waiters provide a brilliant floor show. The service is slick but not rushed. The guitar-playing singer is usually in the right key.
And the food is acceptable.
It's fine for dealing with hunger and not expensive. But not a gourmet experience.
We came across this restaurant while walking down the street. The delicious smells and the sound of the music playing just drew us in and we were not disappointed. There is a very warm and comfortable feeling you receive from this restaurant. The food was very good, the wine list was also very good. But the atmosphere was the best... plus
We chose from the table hote menu,so it included an appetizer, entree and dessert.I had linguine with spicy sauce and shrimp. The shrimp were tiny and frozen and the sauce tasted like it was out of a can.I had cheesecake for dessert and without exaggeration ,it was the worst I have ever had.I abandoned it after 1 bite.My husband had mussels and... plus
11 of us had two nights at this café, the first night was enjoyable good food and a helpful pleasant waitress. However, on the second night when the bill was paid the waiter returned the gratuity which had been added and told us in no uncertain terms and in a voice which could be heard by everyone in the café... plus
We ate at the Cafe De Paris in Quebec City in September 2014. We stayed for 5 days in Quebec City and all the other restaurants that we ate at were good to excellent. At the Cafe De Paris, the service was very poor and the waiters were not friendly to non French speaking customers. Our food arrived cold and... plus
My husband and I got the special of Chateau Breauand .. for two. spectacular.... THE best meal.... fantastic service. the owner & manager showed so much pride in the presentation
Were there in mid-August and there is nothing endearing about this place. Although it is called Cafe de Paris, don't expect it to be reminiscent of Paris. In fact, from the decor and menu, it looks like they are confused themselves about whether it is a French or Italian restaurant, and the decor is cheap and random. As for the... plus
We went with a pre paid group and found the food ok but not special I think the menu was $49can and was over priced in my opinion. Surroundings may appeal to North Americans but as a European it was rather quaint and tired. The service was not great possibly because we were with a group although there was only... plus
We had the evening special which was advertised as 2 dinners for $49.99. It was excellent and the service was impeccable. Because we added wine and dessert and with the tax and out tip, our bill came to twice that amount, but it was worth every cent. They even has live entertainment with our meal. We sat next to a... plus
We stopped in for lunch during a day in Quebec City. The kids had a pizza which was really really good. I wish I had ordered the pizza. I had the Seafood Gratin which was on the Table d'Hote menu and was not impressed. It was average at best. Hubby had the Steak Frites which was good. Again, nothing to... plus
The location and décor (and our hunger) drew us in, and the old fashioned French menu enticed us, but the food was not good. I'm sure it stays in business because of its proximity to the square and popular hotels but be warned that it is not worth it, even if the prices were lower.
We ate here our first night and we will not come back. Most of us ordered veal and it was over cooked and oily. I had one small carrot and three roasted potato bites to go with it. The wine list had a 300% mark up. The staff was fine and the room was nice, but for the price of... plus
I am really surprised at all the mediocre reviews. We really enjoyed our meals and the hospitality of this restaurant.
The service was great, the host and the waiter couldn't have been nicer. The restaurant is deceptively large. From the outside it looks like a tiny bistro but once you go in, it's 2 levels and huge! The wine list...

We loved Cafe de Paris! From the moment we entered the restuarant until the moment we left, we felt as if we'd been transported.
The escargot were fabulous...perfectly seasoned and perfectly tender.
The soup, that night was a sweet potatoe & apple bisque, was wonderful.
Then, we had the Chateaubriand! It was superb. Perfectly cooked and perfectly tender. It was...

Very average food, poor service. Expensive. The menu and decorations are 20 years old. Waiters are tired. They've probably worked there for 20-40 years and couldn't care less. Do yourself a favor. Go somewhere else.
We ordered the most wonderful chateaubriand (beef tenderloin) for 2 that was melt in your mouth tender and simply satisfying. Presented expertly right at our table with succulent vegetables. Truly a highlight during our visit to Old Quebec. We ate with soft candlelight and the sweet sound of live guitar. Wonderful!
We had breakfast here. They seemed quite disorganized and so getting service was not easy. The food was acceptable but nothing special. Very noisy. Maybe we were too old for the place!
Both our teens ordered a stuffed chicken 'Surprise' and the unpleasant surprise was that their chicken was totally raw!! Absolutely disgusting and dangerous. They took it back and returned 15 minutes later (our kids sat there watching us eat our meals) with the same plates microwaved, if you can believe it. These items must have been frozen solid. Needless to... plus
I had the Pizza here and it was horrible. Frozen Pizza is better. The service was even horrible . Would never go back. Go to Il Matto which was 1000 times better
It was nice and not expensive. Service real good. The menu was the basically Italian food and some burgers. The atmosphere nice. Great shopping around.
Although this restaurant offers a great menu throughout the day, we opted for their breakfast. The "Omelette" is part of the main restaurant and their breakfast menu, as their name suggests, provides a wide range of options. If you want to start your day of sightseeing with a hearty breakfast at a reasonable price, this is the place to visit.
this place is all about ambiance. Great location, cute interior decor, good menu selection. It was funny because they have a sign outside with 2 prices, they want you to think you are getting a special today, but that "special" exists everyday! They just jack up the prices and give you a 20% discount so you think you were getting a deal. The set dinner was a ok deal. You get appetizer, entree,... plus
Great service, after we where cold sitting at one table no problem at all to change. And everything was really good.
My wife and I dined here over the past weekend. This place has the best Chateaubriand for 2 offering this side of the Atlantic. Old downtown Quebec in a building that likely was built in the 1600's 2 foot thick stone walls, well appointed decorations, great service.
I still remember the 2 foot long pepper mill( never saw one like...

We were enticed into this restaurant by the sign outside offering 2 courses for 2 people for $50, and we were glad we found it! The food was delicious but the waiters really made the place! They were jokers who had everyone laughing! There was great live music too which really topped the whole place off!
We found this lovely place on Rue St Louis and were very pleased with the wonderful and super friendly service. We had the quiche and crepe dinner specials, which were very tasty. The Black Forest cake was excellent and the chocolate pudding was good. Try the unique Quebec ice cider as an aperitif. We sat by the window and enjoyed the view and flavors!
We loved our meal. I had two appetizers for my meal: escargot and pate. Both were great. A basket of bread also had crisp toast in it. Those little french bread toasts were perfect accompaniments to my meal. My companions all had pasta dishes that they raved about. There was a strolling guitar player/singer. I usually hate that because the... plus
Food is good, but service is mediocre and the prices are right outrageous. Too bad. There are many restaurants that are way better and cheaper just in the same area.
Atmosphere was good and compared to another place we went to, I thought it was good. The chateaubriand dinner was a great deal and really yummie. We sat at a table by the window and lucked out with the summer festival concert going on. But inside was also a Quebec singer. The service we had at the table was not... plus
At first i was excited to be at Cafe Di Paris. But the slowly faded away, our server was not friendly no one talked to us during our dinner, not even to ask how are dinner was. My family and I were not happy with the food I ask for my Beef Wellington to be Medium and we got rare.... plus
We sat upstairs with a nice breeze coming in. The singer/guitarist was a nice added touch. The wait staff was friendly and our food came in a timely manner. Located right into the walled city, it is easy to find and get to.
Appetizers weren't awful, but at these prices, should be better and I've had better for less. Main courses again weren't completely dog food, but for French food in Old Quebec, do yourself a favour and seek your meal elsewhere. That is unless someone singing during dinner is a must have for your visit.
Note to English speaking Canadiens & Americans,...

A nice spot, it was a fun dinner. A nice exciting location with lots to see outside, if you are lucky enough to get a window seat.
The service was great at the door, and they played with our limited French, but nothing noteworthy at the table.

It is a very touristy place. Although the food is quet good but nothing special. Prices are high, but restaurants in quebec are exoensive. Staff is ok. Location is very good.
July 6, 2014 we had a fabulous chateaubriand dinner. The food was well prepared and presented. We sat upstairs because there were several tables on the ground floor having fun and a bit noisy. The wait staff spoke French and English. It was the best meal we had in Canada.
I am amazed reading the reviews of this over hyped and over priced establishment. I could not disagree more with respect to the reviews that endorse Cafe de Paris. It started out fantastic as we were fortunate enough to be seated at a window side table. The decor is eclectic, fun and inviting. The ambience is fantastic with a singer/guitarist... plus
My wife and three kids stopped into this very cozy Restaurant at 2pm on a Friday. Some restaurant owners in Qubec or Europe like their downtime between lunch and dinner, but the owners of Cafe de Paris welcomed us warmly.

DON'T EAT HERE. The food was gross. The customer service was horrible. They underlined the amount of tip on the check at the end to tell me I must pay them the tip amount. The waiters were super rude. The food was super expensive. DON'T GO HERE.
Casual, yet lovely atmosphere. Wait staff was attentive and very friendly. The Fresh Muscles Dijonnaise were the best muscles I've ever had. And by a very big margin. The vegetable soup was minor miracle. I don't know how they can make such a basic soup taste so very special. My wife had the Top Sirloin, which came with a bold and savory sauce. Gross. Gross. Gross.
I hate everything about this place.
Came here with 32 teenagers, so I know I need to cut them some slack; however, here are the high points:
-they made a joke out of a student's food allergy. Not. Cool.
-FREEZING. Quebec is cold, people. Turn on the heat so we can thaw out.
-portions. I know I'm a stupid obese American; however, I think even the Québécois want more than...

I and my wife dined at this restuarant on the recommendation of AAA. It is rustic and did seem inviting. They also advertised live music on Saturday night. Well, it was rustic. Then someone comes again with the food, fairly quickly, then they do not return until... plus
Delicious! Cafe De Paris is one of the best restaurants in the city. We ate a dinner special for two, but made it for four. The steak was probably the the best steak I've ever eaten. The music was very welcoming and the staff were extremely nice. The atmosphere was very formal and the stone was very unique.
I ate here with my coworkers last night, it was recommended to us by a Quebec City native that we are interacting with on business.
