Take a trip back to the 1980s at Caesar's Steak House. The decor is interesting here, with red everywhere, but the food is good. They cook their steaks in some unique way that's really delicious.
After 30 years of frequenting Caesar's for steaks at noon with by buds in the awl bidness, it's still the place to go. The Caesar's Special (New York striploin with their special sauce is still the BEST) and the only real rival to this old boys' place is the new Keg at the Westin. Take your clients there for lunch ... you can't go wrong!
i have been coming to Caesar's every once 'n a while for many years, for business or pleasure. There's something that draws me back, perhaps their incredible cuts of meat, but the whole idea of the place has gone stale. They need an update.
I'm sure the interior of this place hasn't changed since it opened, but that's one thing that makes it so great. It's such a classic feeling steak house, with incredible food. Steaks always cooked properly, and lots of choices of cuts and sizes. Expect to pay quite a lot though.
Caesar's is just plain cool. The room has barely changed since the 1970s, with dark hues, red leather seats and... more
This place is what it is. Old School. Traditional service. All male waiters in bow ties, table-side meals and decor to match. The service is great. These guys are professionals. No bimbo university students. We've been served by Paul a few times. He's efficient, friendly and attentive. Going into the DT location I feel like I'm a member of the mafia. Dark, cozy. Some are saying dated but I... more
Stressful! Your floor people are not waiters, they are robots, trained calves! Oh yes, this is the 21st century, where are your women waiters? Food was good but the experience was ruined - way too rushed and too impersonal. Most people go out for an "evening of enjoyment" not to be feed like cattle and sent packing. We are going to place our experience on the web, such as Urban Spoon. We will... more
It's a bit pricier than chains like the Keg but the food, decor and service are all better so it's worth the difference. The menu is pretty standard and the portions are large. If you are looking for something more modern Porterhouse or Murietta's would be a better choice. For plain old steak and potatoes Caeser's is the best in Calgary right now.
My fiance and I dine here when he comes back from his long shifts away at work. WE LOVE IT!!!We have literally had the same waiter every single time, he remembers us and asked my fiance about his work, we got engaged in between visits and he commented when he saw the ring.Sure the decor is outdated, and I normally love a modern atmosphere, but it kind of feels like you traveled back a few... more
I'm not a huge fan of the atmosphere as I like places that look more modern. This place kind of remains me of Reef and Beef (In Rundle- pretty similar). The food was good, I mean you get a lot for the amount you are paying for. I got a steak which came with free bread, soup, salad, potato. I was pretty full by the time the steak came. The food wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad. I don't really... more
Great traditional steakhouse. You eon't leave with any room left with soup, salad and garlic bread included with all meals.
I dined at Caesars on Friday November 13th at a private function for our business group. Folks from the Atlantic to the Pacific were in attendance. The offerings were steak or Salmon. Our President spent a whole day coordinating the members' wishes regarding how they wished their steaks prepared, and submitted the information well in advance. Two days prior to the event, he was notified that... more
The most overrated, overpriced, outdated restaurant in all of western canada. I will put it this way.... As long as you can get a good cut of meat and you are a half decent cook, then you can make a great steak at home. Thus, a steak house must offer more than just good steak to be considered a good restaurant. Tasty sides, salads, soups, deserts and of course good service are all expected at a... more
Very good steak, classic atmosphere, and outstanding service. I've had many meals here and 90% of the time they were excellent. The one time I received very poor service (our table waited 75 minutes for lunch) I complained to the owner and he comp'd our next meal, so all was forgiven :) Gets very busy at lunch.
Tonight for the first time I got kicked out of a restaurant with my 18 month girl. I am still in shock! When my work colleages and I booked we asked for a child seat and no one told us the steakhouse was not kid friendly. Shortly after arrival I got told to keep her quiet. She was laughing and playing. About five minutes later I got asked to leave as the host stated he had a complaint. This was... more
This is supposed to be one of the best steakhouses in town. It's not. My medium-rare steak came out well-done. I just told the server about it but because I was at a business lunch with 3 others, I couldn't send it back because I didn't have time to wait for a new one . She said she'd tell the kitchen, but no further apologies were offered and we were still charged full price for it.In... more
For being such a Calgary staple, I don't understand why the steak's still come out over cooked. I had specfically asked for a medium-rare steak, and it came out almost black. The sides were good, but when you're spending upwards of $100 on your meal, you hope to get your beef as you requested it.
I've only been here once and I don't plan to go back. The decor was frightfully dated, the service was inefficient (and geriatric) at best, and the food wasn't that great. The cheese-bread was almost incredibly salty, the scampi was mediocre and every thing was far too pricey for the quality. This is one Calgary institution I won't plan to check out again.
These couple of paragraphs from Caesar’s website sum up beautifully what Caesar’s is to Calgarians – the old reliable steak house. 70′s decor aside, they only claim to do one thing really... more
The even-more-past-expiration-date cuisine. Caesar's has been around since 1972 and it shows.
This place was interesting. The minute you walk in, you feel like you're in the most out dated restaurant ever... which you are! But i think it's done purposely like that. We were seated right beside this glass box where a chef would grill all their steaks.. It was good, it didn't get too hot or anything. This place was definitely pricey... and for what you get, I don't think it's worth it. I... more
Went to Caesar's tonight for the first time, it was good enough to vote "liked it" but I wouldn't go back for a second visit. The steak was cooked perfect for sure, but the sides were super salty. Careful with the cheese bread it's over loaded with powdered Parma cheese, garlic bread was good. Asparagus was cooked right not too bitter or too soft, overall a decent meal, service is ok not... more
by Carlee (from Calgary) September 2010 - Caesars in simply a very classy, 5 star restaurant. Very rich throughout. Everything just is fabulous there. The food is really, to die for. And the service is wait on hand and foot. The treat you like royalty. Like pure gold. I loved that it seemed our server was our very own he was always there. The restaurant I would say overall, is a little bit out... more
It was a good steak, it was correspondingly expensive but it wasn't worth the price paid. I can get an equal steak (and I do mean equally good) for 75% the price Caesar's charges and I actually get nicely prepared vegetables on my plate too. The stuffed potato I had today was severely over cooked with the bacon bits being nearly teeth shatteringly tough and the green onions being dry & limp. I... more
by Girl about town (from Calgary) April 2010 - I was given a gift certificate for Willow Park Village. We had never been to Caesars Steakhouse so decided to try it. The decor was very dated, think old Las Vegas. We ordered strip loin steak. The "salad" that came before seemed like it was bagged lettuce, not a tomato or cucumber in sight. The "garlic/cheese bread" was like supermarket style... more
GREAT steak! Enjoyed the service, the wine, the lobster and the amazing steak. The atmosphere was retro for sure, so enjoy the ambiance!
Had dinner here by myself close to closing time. Amazing food, steak was cooked perfectly. I was able to watch the chef grill my steak on their awesome grill that is on display and I believe the waiter said it has cooked over 1,000,000 steaks in its lifetime. I would definitely recommend the place.
Best to show up with your A game and go with the full dinner. Cheese toast, salad with house dressing, onion soup and whatever steak you choose will be a top notch combo. Crazy decor unique to this place alone. One of the best and well priced deals in town
Best meal in the city by far!!! Service is warm, food is excellent!
by Tony (from Calgary) September 2009 - I was pleasantly surprised to come here twice so far, once last year for my birthday and again this year. The setting is upscale yet inviting. Staff are welcoming and very polite. Both I and my girlfriend had ordered the most expensive cut which was the filet mignon at about 12 ounces. It was the most tender steak I have ever tasted within the city of... more
Any self-respecting Calgarian needs to go to Caesar. It is a celebration of Alberta beef cooked to perfection. It has been around forever. The decor is straight out of a 50's gangster movie, and the food is just as bold, just as dramatic. The cuts of beef are the best around and are grilled to perfection. Along with a solid steak, wash down the meaty goodness with a Bloody Caesar. It's probably... more
by erik (from calgary) February 2009 - This is the dining experience that I will not soon forget, and that’s a good thing in Calgary. Ceaser is totally opposite to what you expect in a restaurant from coat check to the bill. The vintage décor is classic 1970’s with no wear or tattyness one might expect of an interior this old. Service is great and the food although dated is good. Pricing is... more
by Tom (from Calgary) October 2007 - In general the restaurant is good - service is ok, food quality is good but at the price - nearly $200.00 for four without drinks or dessert - There are any number of restaurants where the food is just as good and the price would have been under half of what we paid.
by James (from Calgary) July 2007 - I dine out an average of three times a week, I have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in London, Rome, Madrid, Delhi, Prague, New York, Beijing and all points inbetween. I went to Caesars and believe me it is the best steakhouse in Calgary. The food is great and comes out quick although it can't be characterized as excelllent. As long as you don't go to... more
by chris (from calgary) April 2007 - I dine out an average of four times a week, I have opened 27 restaurants over the last 12 years in four different countries. I have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in New York, Los Angeles, Prague, Tokyo and all points inbetween. I went to Caesars based upon its reputation as one of the best steakhouses in Calgary, Believe me it is only reputation... more
This is the most highly overrated restaurant in Calgary. The food is uninspired, flat and very poorly presented, IT IS NOT THE BEST STEAK IN TOWN. The service was rude and inattentive. The decor and atmosphere are outdated.
by Gerald (from Calgary, Alberta) September 2006 - How this one has stayed off the list is beyond me. I have been many times, and I take everyone who visits from out of town here.If you love steak and the foods tradionally associated with it and steakhouse, this is the place for you.Salad dressings are all made in house and are fantastic. The CHEESE TOAST is something that sounds crazy to rave... more
This place knows how to cook a good steak...you pay for what you get...but it will be worth it in the end...the atmosphere is great and the servers are courteous... try it
We were in calgary on medical and came to this steak house which we were told about. when we came in we were very impressed as the atmosphere here was very warm and friendly. It is a bit pricey but worth every penny. The cooks here really do no how to make a steak and we hope they get paid well for cooking as we never had a place that could make a steak to where u actually got what u asked for.... more
Very, very good food, I enjoyed it very much. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the menu is so expensive. A awesome place to go, if you can afford it.
mmmmmm had some of the best steaks i have tried and it came cooked just the way i wanted it. no bad things to say just go try it you wont be sorry
Very, very good food, I enjoyed it very much. The ambience was great and my steak was done the way I like it, "Medium Rare".
This is the king of all calgary steak houses. They really know how to do it up right. However, they also know how to charge you for it. For a special occasion you can't go wrong.
I must say they are an outstanding place!!! I have never had a steak done that well. And the atmosphere was perfect.
ONE OF THE BEST STEAKHOUSES, ANYWHERE. PERIOD Quality Alberta steaks prepared superbly, great service and classic ambiance. Consistently.
I have eaten at many steak houses over the years, however I never had such a great steak in years. The ambiance is old and dark. the food is great and flavorful. I would be willing to suggest this restaurant to anyone.
This long-established steak house boasts a classical theme, including Ionic columns, gleaming red leather chairs, and dark, polished woodwork. The multi-level restaurant is divided into lounge and dining room areas, depending on your intent. Charcoal-broiled steaks are the primary attraction, although Caesar's does a fine sauteed scampi too. You'll also be pleased by their capable touch with... more
Dark wood paneling and hardwood floors set a classy mood at Caesar\'s; the service is impeccable and the food is mouthwatering. Because of its popularity, reservations are recommended. The food is a little pricey, but if you like Alberta Beef, this is a great place to enjoy it. You can also choose from an array of other entrees including ribs, chicken, and soups and salads. They have a large... more
