Lunch here was amazing. Healthy eating great taste. Like other reviews. Worth the drive into town. Skip the typical franchise places.
Such a surprise to find a small-town café with big-city sophistication. Wholesome handmade foods with many gluten-free and vegan options, all served with local beer wine, cider and fair-trade coffees. This place is an honest-to-god treasure!
If you're trying to avoid the typical fast food joints then this eatery is def worth a visit. Good home baking & sandwiches like your mom used to make. It's a short 5 min drive from HWY 5 & 97c & worth the effort. We will be back.
Good friendly service and the food was great. Cheese scones well worth travelling for. There is one small table outside, they should have more. Sitting outside in the sunshine we met lots of friendly locals.
Delicious snacks, lots of great gluten-free options. Really good coffee, breads and baked goods, sandwiches etc. Definitely worth the few extra minutes off the highway this is now our go-to enroute from the lower mainland to Kelowna or Kamloops. Thank you Brambles!!
There really isn't much to recommend Merritt since the big music festival faded away unless you are as much of a grasslands semi-arid desert fan like me. However, Brambles is a must stop for anyone heading up and down the Coq as the baked goods are fresh, scrumptious, good sized, and very fairly priced. The atmosphere is small town homey... more
We found this gem by accident. Took a walk on the Main Street to stretch our legs and came in for a coffee. Stayed for the wonderful red pepper and chipotle soup. Took a loaf of multigrain bread with us when we left. We will be back!!!!
We were passing by Merritt on our way home from the interior.
Wanting something different than Starbucks near the gas station, we decided to try a local coffee shop, and we found this place via internet.
The street was pretty quiet in the middle of the day, but the place was busy with constant customers, locals and passersby like us....

We stopped in for lunch on our way through Merrit. It looked nice and the baked goods looked good. The service was really slow. It took 30 mins plus to get our soup and sandwich and the order was not correct. The chicken sandwich was pretty good, but the borscht wasn't great.
Stayed in Merritt for two weeks, a lovely friendly place that has more to offer than meets the eye! Brambles offers amazing bread, soup, tea, coffee, and more importantly cakes! You have to try the chocolate velvet cake, I'm missing it here in England. Really nice little building, free wifi and friendly staff. You have to visit, but don't feel... more
This is such a great place! Local products, great specials, to die for desserts and awesome customer service! Love it!!
On our way to Vancouver and had to make a pit stop in Merritt. I will make it a stop every time I can! On our way into town I had doubts about where we would find. Turned a corner in town and ended up in front of this place. It was busy. Lot's of variety of coffee and tea's.... more
A surprise that made our day after getting stuck in traffic during a whiteout snowstorm on the trip from Hope. We shared a sweetly spiced Thai yam soup and a crunchy baguette overflowing with sliced meats, cheese and savoury vegetables. Staff were attentive, giving great suggestions to meet our requests. Coffee options and tea selections to suit all ages and... more
Stopped in for lunch while in town. Have been maybe 6 times before and good each time; decided to write a review this time. Ordered the corm chowder with artichoke and feta focaccia on the side. As always, soup was hot and delicious, service was quick and friendly. This place is my favourite in Merritt - good food, good prices,... more
So happy to find this little place! Great food and latte's!! It's now my new go-to spot when travelling thru Merritt. I had the grilled chicken sandwich (twice) and the borscht and vanilla latte! All delicious!! Very impressed! Wish I had a place like this in my neighbourhood!
The trip from Vancouver to Kelowna always has one stop for coffee and nosh. The stop is usually Hope, but recently that all changed with the discovery of Brambles. A great place for coffee with an attached bakery. A great bakery, even without the coffee. This is the place every traveler wants to go, no arches on this wood frame... more
Just what to look for in a bakery. Great cakes and sandwiches with good hearty soups. Ideal lunchtime stop.
I envy residents of Merritt as they could eat lunch at Brambles often! We stopped enroute to the Okanagan for lunch, based on T.A. Reviews and were so glad we did! We even returned on our way back! The sandwiches and soup were so good. We just wished we had room for some of the wonderful desserts! We thought the... more
Jambalaya soup was great, the half sandwich that came with it was quite small but still very tasty. Free tap water, nice atmosphere and decor. The locals obviously know that it's good and come in by the droves. A good variety of sweets. Just let down by limited cashier space which means a long wait.
+ Real coffee
+ Freshly baked cakes
+ Awesome sandwiches
+ Nice staff
+ Reasonable prices
+ Free Wifi
- I was freezing a bit
My family and I were headed to Sun Peaks. We pulled off the highway to stop for lunch in Merritt and looked up where to eat. Brambles came up and based on the tripadvisor reviews, we decided to try it out. We're so glad we did. The place isn't fancy, but it is very clean and as long as you... more
Stopped here for lunch based on reviews from tripadvisor. Didn't disappointment. We must have caught a lull in the crowd, the wait was about 5 min which allowed us to decide what to order. Sandwiches were very good, I had the roasted veg sandwich. The soups were excellent and the bowl serving was HUGE. We were warned that it would... more
We were looking for something other than fast/franchise food while on our motorcycle, and found Brambles rated tops on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. Everything is tasty, well presented and cooked on the premises, including the meat (turkey, ham, etc.) used in the sandwiches. And desserts! oh my, the desserts!!! We don't often get out to Merritt, but when we... more
This establishment serves a nice variety of food but is hardly a well-kept secret; arriving for a late lunch in summer vacation season, we found a long lineup to the counter and brisk service processing that felt like a busy downtown Starbucks. It also felt a bit like a chain franchise in that while it offers a nice selection of... more
Definitely worth getting off of the Coquihalla as I've yet to experience a bad meal or drink. I would recommend this as your breakfast/lunch/coffee/whatever your needs may be stop for any travelling you may be doing along this route. Needed a place to stop on our way from Vancouver to Salmon arm and found this place on trip advisor. A great little find. a wee bit off the highway but worth the trip. We stopped in while driving from Edmonton to Kelowna and we loved this little cafe! Top quality food, decently priced, and a lovely atmosphere. Really impressed and if are traveling through the area again we will definitely stop in for lunch.
The town of Merritt, which is famous for the Merritt country music festival, but not famous for cool, interesting, 'found' food places, has one little amazing find, Brambles Bakery & Cafe. If you need a pit stop as you travel through British Columbia's interior region make it this place.
Great sandwiches, homemade soups, homemade desserts--decadent looking chocolate ganache coated cheesecake!...

We had great difficulty finding a good coffee in our travels so this was a welcome surprise. The menu was delightfully different. We would certainly be visiting Brambles frequently
If we lived near or in Merritt. We will be back!
Just dropped in here off the busy Hwy 1 on our way back to Vancouver. Started with sausage rolls with a homemade rhubarb chutney which we would love to be able to buy back in Australia! Then shared a rhubarb pie which was delicious. The pastry was very very good! Ended up buying some take away cheesecake and carrot cake... more
Went in to the bakery for a soup and sandwich and what I came away with is something I will never forget. I ordered the Thai yam soup and a brie, apple and spinach melt. First off the soup was obviously delivered straight to Brambles from the gods themselves! It was silky, smooth, spicy, a little sweet and all around... more
Everything was good from the sandwiches to the desserts. Sandwiches had nice little touches I then and the desserts were fresh and moist. Will definitely be coming back here next time out
Stopped in on our way over the Colquihalla for a quick bite to eat. Nice little cafe with good atmosphere. We had sandwiches which were very tasty and made with good quality ingredients although at $9 each for two slices of bread with a filling I thought was a little pricey, but I'd probably go back.
I have been going in for lunch for the past few months. The food is always fantastic. Everything is home made on site, fresh and healthy. I highly recommend the fresh breads and soups.
Brambles is a lovely bakery. They also provide specialty coffee, lunches, great soups, and a variety of treats. There coffee, including cappuccino's, espresso, latte's is made to your specific needs and tastes. The lunches are diverse and change every day. You have many options, including vegan. They always have great soups made from scratch. There is more than one choice,... more

This was a random find while stopping along the way to Kelowna, B.C. looking for lunch. The cafe has a unique small-town feel with it's wall decorations reminiscent of a bakery built in the 1920's. For anyone bringing small children they also have a small playspace with books and toys, probably a nice break for any families on those long... more
I discovered this jewel about 2 years ago and I never pass through Merritt without stopping any more. The staff and owners are among the friendliest I have encountered while travelling around the province and that is about 60% of my working time.

Brambles was opened about three years ago by a mother and daughter who had been to cooking school in California, and felt the need for a cafe that wasn't Tim Hortons or Starbucks or McDonalds, but one that sold food that was made in their own kitchen. Witness, they bake their own breads and make their own stock for their... more
