A friend and I had heard many good things about Boos and decided to have lunch here one day. The ambience is nice and the service is good. Coming from Australia, we were both craving lamb and decided to try the rack of lamb. My goodness, it was one of the best racks I had ever had. Even my friend... more
The food here is so delicious I couldn't stop licking the plates.
We had Wagjag coupons but couldn't use them as they are not redeemable on the weekend, so by the time we found out, we were seated anyway so we had to stay.
We had the Cuban chicken skewers, the curry chicken and the breast of duck with a...

I came to this restaurant because a friend of mine is friends with one of the chefs. All she could do is rave about the food, So I took a chance.
I was not disappointed! I had the mussels in an apple and bacon sauce, so good I could have licked the plate clean! (I tried as good as I...

My husband and I dined at Boo's tonight. Being a Wednesday night it wasn't as crowded as usual which I guess was good for us. Service was excellent but we never felt rushed.
My husband fancied the mussels from the listing of house specials, so he also ordered the Mango and Stilton Salad (Bibb lettuce, sliced mango, White Stilton, crystallized...

I have taken my mom and family to this restaurant and have enjoyed it every single time. My favourite dish is the tornado steak with peper corn wine reduction. I love the vegetable and how they are prepared. I always make a point of going to this particular restaurant for family celebrations or just when I have a craving for... more
It is with regret that I write the following review of this restaurant where, a couple of month's ago, we enjoyed a very good meal. Because our first experience was so positive, we decided to bring two friends to Boos with the knowledge that our treat would be well received. Alas, the opposite occurred.
The tiger shrimp appetizer was served...

I rarely write a negative review about anyplace that my wife and I go. But tonight the experience we had at this restaurant was so bad I need to tell people about it. We walked into the restaurant an we should have turned right around and left. It was so hot an muggy we started sweating as soon as we... more
Charming find in downtown Hamilton! This was recommended to me by the Crowne Plaza & is my favorite restaurant I have tried in Hamilton so far.
Great menu, very knowledgable and enthusiastic staff, nice wine list. I tried the Mee Siam and it was delicious! Very flavourful. The cheese plate was also very good - interesting selection of cheeses.
I will definitely come back!
Best place to eat in the city. Really tough to find high quality places with great people. Disappointed so many times by many places but finally found our favourite place in the city
Often we do not order an entree and order all the appetizers and then pair a wine with each
Great sport
funky little restaurant. Everything ordered was superb. Staff very attentive but gave you lots of space and time between courses. From the crab cakes and scallop appetizers to the chicken and lamb mains to the cheesecake and creme bruelee desserts everything was delicious. Would go back in and heartbeat.....and we will be soon!!
Best beef tenderloin I have eaten anywhere-cooked to perfection and didn't need a knife. My husband ordered the roasted squash soup (delicious with some nice heat) and the halibut for his entree. While his portion was not huge (unlike his appetite) mine was the perfect amount. Parking on a Sunday night was not a problem and the restaurant was full.... more
Four of us had dinner here after work. We all ordered something different and we all enjoyed our meals very much. The hostess was extremely pleasant, knowledgeable and efficient and made helpful recommendations. The winelist was very good offering a wide selction and all price ranges. The hostess (whose name I am very sorry that I can't remember but it... more
Im not sure how this restaurant can possibly be ranked so high of all in Hamilton. Went there with a group of friends just recently. The service for drinks was incredibly slow. Our waitress was pleasant enough but the whole bistro was understaffed. When I asked her how she finds the special chicken supreme she replied "I dont know I... more
Went in to Boo's with my mother and cousin after having read online that they offered Creme Brulee at the restaurant. I live in Toronto and my cousin was visiting from Boston. We had just come back from Niagara falls and were going to be heading back to Toronto later that night, but decided to stop by Boo's. We had... more
Went here for dinner with friends. We had heard so much about this restaurant that we couldn't wait to go. Before going my husband and I had checked out their menu on the their website. Well, it couldn't have been more different. When we asked the waitress she informed us that it had been a very long time since the... more
There were four of us in our group, and we made our reservations for 5:30, but were told that we were being squeezed in and had to be out by 7:00. Fair enough, thanks for squeezing us in. We went to the restaurant, and we had a fantastic table. Kudos. The menus came, and they were just 8 1/2 x... more
It's been a bit over a year since I reviewed Boo's Bistro in downtown Hamilton. I'm still a big fan of the food but continue to feel that conversation is difficult even when the room isn't crowded. It would be nice if they could do something about that as then it would be pretty near perfect!
My husband wasn't enthusiastic...

Went to Boos as a second choice because our first choice was closed on Tuesday, but Boos will be the first choice from now on. Downtown Hamilton has a couple of well known high end restaurants which I have been going to off and on for a couple years, but their food does not compare now that I've tried Boos.... more
Scallops as an appetizer. Ancho beef for the main. Creme brulee for desert.
All in the food here was delicious and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants to try something just a little cut above in Hamilton. We loved the creme brulee so much we came back the next week just for coffee and desert.
Went with a group of friends, one of whom highly recommended this restaurant. We were not disappointed. Each of us had a different dish and all of us were impressed with the food. I had the rack of lamb, which was served with a light curry sauce on a bed on lentils. It melted in your mouth, was simply delicious.... more
Been to Boo’s a few times for lunch and always enjoyed the food. Recently, went for dinner. Had the seared scallops to start. Superb. My main was a delicate lightly breaded halibut portion in a coconut curry sauce served with naan bread. My husband had the beef tenderloin - cooked perfectly and served with shoe string frites. 4 of us recently went to Boo's Bistro in downtown Hamilton and enjoyed it very much. The service was friendly and professional, the menu was eclectic and the food was quite good and reasonably priced. I especially enjoyed the European ambiance and would go back again for either lunch or dinner.
I don't usually equate Hamilton with fine dining, but my son arranged dinner for our small family group recently, and I was surprisingly impressed! Boo's is not much to look at, but the meal was exceptional. I had a crab cake appetizer with a glorious zesty red onion marmalade. At $15 it wasn't cheap, but well worth it. For main... more
Spent the morning in Hamilton so stopped by with my wife for a quick lunch bite at Boo's. Service was pleasant, quick and professional. Food was wonderful. I decided on vegetarian (not my usual choice) and was extremely pleased with my pasta. Nice, but brief, wine-by-the-glass list. The place has also been recently renovated.
Overall excellent and will return.
Tragically, I was only introduced to this place just before I moved away from Hamilton - had I known about it earlier, I would have spent a *lot* of my time here.
The food was fantastic - just don't expect the same menu all the time. I think the chef likes to experiment and so the menu seems to be...

Had a really great meal there a couple of weeks ago.
The food was great, not a big menu, but you can find something for sure.
Wine choices are not bad, they are able to make good suggestions.
Make a reservation if you are going for dinner!
We came to Boo's with the expectation of good food and were not disappointed. The decor of the bistro is quite plain, but we were there for a food experience. From the pear, walnut and Gorgonzola cheese salad to the crab ravioli and Cajun halibut that we had as our main courses, the flea ours and presentation were excellent. My... more
Finally decided to visit Boo's after hearing good things from many people. We (2) sat down at about 7:30 to a full restaurant and only one waiter on the floor! Booked a table on a chilly night and got some chilly service.
3 of us ordered 3 different mains -just one Appetizer, the battered scallops were burnt on the outside and bouncy hard - sweet sauce drizzled over them did not enhance the flavour.

There is nothing average about this place. I have eaten at some pretty upscale outstanding restaurants in my life, and this blows a lot of them out of the water. Thai beef salad was an exquisite appetizer followed by supreme chicken, which was also outstanding. All four in our party thoroughly enjoyed our meals and would go back in a minute. Highly recommended.
We had a reservation for a table for four. We arrived (on time) and the woman there had given our table to another group - not an apology for this. The appetizers were the best part of the meal and they were average. The entrees were small , the plate was filled with greasy fries along with a tiny piece... more
I like the menu but found they need to follow through further with what they promise to deliver.
Started with the scallops with wasabi mayo and ponzu sauce. The wasabi was barely hinted at; the ponzu but a little dribble. Come on! Don't be shy! Coulda been great but instead underwhelmed.
Next up was the char feature. Sounded delicious and...

My wife and I just happened to come across this place while on an appointment in the area. We had seen the name mentioned in a local paper and figured while in the area to give it a try. The menu is quite simple and straight forward and the wine list is quite eclectic for a small bistro.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Hamilton. The restaurant is very small so make sure you have a reservation. The ambiance is romantic and inviting. The menu is very interesting, the chef is experimental with flavours....great food overall, I've enjoyed trying new things at this restaurant! A cozy atmosphere, to relax and enjoy an evening out.
After several recommendations, we went to Boos Bistro for my birthday. We are so happy to have found Boo's Bistro! My only complaint is that it was a bit too noisy for easy conversation. The food, however, was glorious. there are some great dishes here, some great daily specials and Boo has a knack for being really creative and taking great care. But be careful about buying any wagjag coupons as they seem to just cut the portions down to take into account the coupon...as in a scallop appetizer consisting of 2 scallops for about ten bucks...wtf?
I had dinner at thisrestaurant in March 2012. Reservations were made nearly two weeks prior for 7 p.m. I was looking forward to a relaxed evening with some friends that were visiting from out of town. We simply avoid going down to "downtown" after work hours, but friends brought us here and we were all very surprised. The service, food, wine list and recommendations were all bang on. Four of us went to Boos for dinner on a Saturday. We ordered Ceasar salad, Mango salad, crab cakes, calamari , ancho beef, gorgonzola beef and two thai beef salads as a main. I wish I could give this place 0 stars!
Let's start with the entrance. There is a vestibule- the first door pushes out and the next door pulls in. So you kinda get cramped in before entering the semi- basement. We noticed there were some cracked tiles and the furnishings were cheap and dark. We decided to start with the appetizer. We had crab cakes. Two cakes the size of a loonie. They were...

The menu is varied. We went with friends for dinner in September and all of us enjoyed our meals. Boo has great creativity in his cooking, lots of interesting taste combinations. The setting is nice and tasteful, attentive knowledgable servers, great food. It is not a very big restaurant so reservations are a good idea. Would recommend.
James Street South is lucky to have this little gem. We've had just about everything on the menu, and its very well rounded. There's a great wine selection and the atmosphere is unique and romantic. The staff is very warm and genuine, just the right amount of interaction. This is a perfect place for a first date if you're looking to impress. Try the Spicy Ancho beef.
Sort of an asian fusion type place in a way. Went her for a staff luncheon, and was happy with the food. It was a set menu which blows, due to the lack of choices. I had the sesame beef and mango stilton salad along with creme brulee to finish. Very quaint, and intimate place with good quality food. Hard to find kind of, but no complaints.
I think its a bit over rated. The food looks good and is well presented, but the sauces themselves are from a bottle. Hardly the stuff of "real" chefs
food was amazing service wasn't pleasing I felt rushed to get out and the place had everyone cramped in like sardines.
food was great prepared to just the way we asked, the staff were well prepared for serving and recommending food from the menu. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone
