These guys win awards for their burgers. Not like fast food, like home made bbq burgers but made by a professional chef.
this burger joint, i can't explain it. feels like what the very first burger restaurant in the world probably was, so unique and individual, and their food is incredible!
They've won awards for these burgers, and I'm not surprised. Some fantastic options, and a real homestyle taste that you can't get at any fast food joint. Not overly expensive, sometimes a bit of a wait, but you'll be talking about your burger for days to your pals.
Established in 1969, Boogies is a Calgary fast food landmark. With a wide range of yummy homemade offerings, Boogies... more
The Jebb burger deserves a shot on one of those diner shows. What a burger! This place is one of my favorite hole in the walls. The staff is awesome, and the burgers and fries are some of the best in Calgary.I love the pokes at Peter's Drive in.... and mostly they're true. Please work on the Milkshakes, though. I had the Banana, and it was a bit too fake for my liking. :( Will be coming back... more
My friend and I finally decided to take this place off our wishlist and went to pay them a visit last week. We were worried that there may be a lineup, but as we went around 1:30 we beat the lunch rush. As we walked in we were greeted immediately along with menus. The both of us decided on Fay's burger with a small order of yam fries to share. We took our seat, and our food was brought out a few... more
This place is fantastic. If youve ever watched man vs food and wished we had an awesome burger joint in Calgary, boogies is the place to quell your desires. Awesome vintage arcade games and beer too!
I miss walking through the door and hearing "Hi Honey , I know exactly what you want" as the imortal words of Fay would be everytime I walked in ... and dammit she knew everytime what I wanted.... Don't get me wrong the burgers are still very good.... the heart has seemed to have left.... By pass Peter's when your in that area and try Boogies ... won't be disappionted.... more
this is burger heaven indeed......they play by their own rules in there.....[calorie counters steer clear] my favorite so far has to be the Keith's burger as I haven't had "permission" from my wife to attempt the "don't fear the reaper burger" great decor with all the old school video games very friendly staff but first timers be advised ....go to their website first and figure out what you... more
If you're craving a burger, stick with Peters.
Been here over and over again......in fact, bought a shirt!I love the burgers here. No surprises.....just great tasting AAA beef. My favorite is the Boog mAc with bacon. The burgers are large and filling. I love their sweet potato fries and the dipping sauces for them too. Cool little hole in the wall. This place is the type of eating establishments I dream of finding on my continuous hunt to... more
Yes, finally a place that offers and egg in my burger. As someone who has lived in another country other than canada (and no, not the US), I learned that many peeps love an egg in their burger. In New Zealand, even McDonald's has a burger with an egg in it! Boogies has been a joint that I have been waiting a long time to try. The name scares me, but what really in a name? So after my lovely... more
We recently tried Boogies Burgers for the first time, and were greatly disappointed. There was not much meat in the burger and what there was lacked any discernable flavor. The shake was okay, but really small for the price. Hate to say it, but Peters is better, for less money.
I was not expecting too be able to sit down and eat there so it was a pleasant surprise. But the food was really good. There is truly something for everyone here. Really really enjoyed it minus the bad music playing very loudly the whole time.
5 of us tried Boogies Burgers on a trip to Calgary, only 4 of us enjoyed it... I was going to order the Jerk Chicken, but they were out so I settled fir the veggie burger. BARF! It was so gross and mushy... And neon green! Don't know what the heck they put in that thing, but it was the worst I've ever had. On the other hand, my friends said their burgers were delicious! My boyfriend (cheered on... more
It is rare to find a burger place where everything is good, but we have done it.
My wife and I decided to hit up an old favourite called Boogie's Burgers. When we first walked in, we immediately noticed that the place had changed with new owners. The restaurant now has more seating and a hip look and a modern feel to it. I ordered the fays burger with onion rings and a milk shake. My wife ordered a single cheese burger with a milk shake. We sat down admiring the new look... more
The great and intimidating feature of Burger Inn is its menu. Although all options are reasonably priced, I was torn between several exotic types of meat for my burger including: elk... more
Eating the food you know it isnt good for you. My favorite is the Pizza Burger but it tastes so good it is hard to go half a year without indulging in the 3000 calorie masterpiece.
by Debbie (from Chestermere) June 2011 - While competing in City Chase this weekend, my hubby and I came upon Boogie's Burgers, which I had only just recently been told about. Having lived in Calgary for most of my life, I was surprised that I had not known about this hidden gem before then. They opened in 1969 and the quaint little place still has the feel of an old time diner. Although I... more
Flavor has not changed much from the past, super messy and massive burger for $6 the bun was larger than my hand. Very good burger to enjoy with fries and small drink will cost you $13 a... more
How could I resist deviating away from sushi to talk about this little spot off of Edmonton trail and 8th Street NE? This place has been flipping some of the biggest, juiciest local beef since the sixties, and I doubt the portions have gotten any smaller. What was a family run venture but a few years ago, the recent shift in management has had little impact on the food. Their shakes are still... more
by Lindsay (from Calgary) February 2011 - Boogies Burgers is located on Edmonton Trail, and at first glance, looks like a little hole in the wall place not worth visiting. However, Boogies has been there for quite awhile, and this is a result of their great food and fun, unique atmosphere. It is setup to resemble a diner from a time in the past where food was good, service was great, and life... more
by Cody (from Calgary) February 2011 - One of the best places to go for a burger in Calgary has to be Boogies Burgers on Edmonton Trail. It has been there forever and little has changed over the years. Other than a fresh coat of paint, the restaurant probably looks exactly the way it did when they first opened their doors and the food is still made from scratch, like they did in the good old... more

My review of Peter's Drive-In establishes the low opinion I hold of that place. Boogie's Burgers, on the other hand, is everything I expect from a classic burger establishment, and a little more. Their hamburgers are huge, greasy, and flavourful, with almost too many options to choose from. The service is friendly and casual, and the atmosphere in the restaurant itself seemed nice - I don't... more
What a great place to break all the rules of eating healthy. Where else can you get a hot dog IN a hamburger? Fries are great! Shakes are great!
by Christopher (from Calgary) August 2010 - So, as I sit here, I can still smell the BBQ sauce on my fingers. I hope some of the smell transfers to my keyboard and lingers. I went here to take out a couple of burgers. I had the Blazing Saddles burger- 2 patties spicy bbq sauce and all the fixings. So- when I got to my destination, I was overjoyed with the density of my soon to be consumed... more
I've known of Boogie's burgers for most of my life and it's one of those places that I keep thinking I'd like to visit and never seem to get to.
Despite living in Calgary most of my life I'd never been to Boogie's before. I always figured that since they were opened by the same guy who gave us Peter's the burgers would be the same. Not at all.Today we tried the Fay's and Sam's burgers with an order of yam chips, some onion rings and a shake. We waited a rather long time but this was okay since we heard the burgers are all made to order... more
Finally tried Boogie's after many years of procrastination, and I must say I was quite impressed. The burger I had was absolutely delicious (think burger meets hot dog in a wonderful fusion)! I loved the decor, the retro video games, and the hip staff. The only thing I say that could use improvement are the fries. I'll definitely be going there again...soon!
Boogies Burgers is another great Calgary burger restaurant. Since 1969, Boogies has been feeding the masses with their delicious fare. Today, it was my turn. The restaurant is bright and busy, with an open kitchen and friendly staff. There are booths and tables in the small, but inviting dining area. I sat at the bar, close to the action as the cashier took orders nearby. Once the orders are... more
by Mary (from Calgary) December 2009 - I’m not sure where I heard about this place, but apparently this was the place to try if you wanted an amazing burger. I have to say I was somewhat disappointed. It was quite pricey at around $6 for a very basic burger. Maybe that’s just me. It was quite big, which for a lot of people is a plus. I suppose that would have been the only plus, had it been... more
by (from ) December 2009 - OH man this is seriously the best tasting burger ever, I live in the SE and often find myself driving the 45 minutes across the city for one of these! ha ha. The people that work there are great and i love that you have to wait for them to make it fresh it makes it that much better!I RECOMEND THIS PLACE TO EVERYONE!
Childhood memories, I remember going here as a kid way back when Boogies was in a small hut seemed like a 10x10 drive up shed. It wasn't a shed but not much bigger...I believe Sam and Fay who owned it than and I'm sure their son has it now but I could be wrong. Anyway the burgers were made fresh from the local meat purchased at Bon Ton meats when it was next door by Sam. Fay knew everyone that... more
by Albert (from Calgary) August 2009 - Now I know how popular this burger joint seems to be among people and especially my group of friends so I've given this place two tries over a one month period. My first burger (the Fay burger) was disappointingly dry and flavorless. Considering the Fay burger actually comes with bacon/mushroom/mushroom sauce, and I tried to put a lot of sauce on it, I... more
by Rhonda (from Calgary) July 2009 - Met some friends on our way home from work one evening at a local burger place in Calgary called Boogie Burger located at 908 Edmonton Trail NE. When we pulled into the strip mall parking lot, there was a sign on a billboard saying “Peter Who? which I later learned was a reference to Peter’s Drive-In. Apparently the owner also started up Peter’s Drive-In... more
by Jason (from Calgary) July 2009 - This place is a nice throwback to the old school burger joints that used to exist. A rare find in Calgary nowadays, it even comes complete with an old Pac Man arcade game, that in itself is worth a visit right? Despite the old décor, the prices have been modernized, so be prepared to spend 7-10 dollars for a specialty burger and up to $15 for their most... more
by Susan (from Calgary) July 2009 - I came here to grab some burgers with some friends on a very hot day. This little burger joint was extremely hot and stuffy because there is no air conditioning so we had to wait outside. The look of the restaurant is quite dated and due for a renovation but at the same time, the old look does give the joint some character. The wait time was about 10 minutes... more
by Nicole (from Calgary) June 2009 - If you haven't been to Boogies yet you are in for a big surprise. Don't be dismayed by the less than appetizing name of the restaurant, you have never met a more delicious burger in your life.Boogies sports your ever popular retro-diner look, however unlike all the other's, Boogies has actually been around since the 60's, and to prove it, they have an... more
With a vegetarian wife, it's hard to always make trips to Peter's when she can't get anything substantial there outside of the sides. We've gone to Boogies previously and were pleased with what we got and knew they had a number of vegetarian friendly items, so we thought we'd try again. This time I tried the Sam's burger - I've seen fried eggs on burgers before, but never bothered to try them.... more
by Keith (from Calgary) May 2009 - If you've always wanted the ironic sensibilities of Tubby Dog, but with less dog and more burger, then Boogies Burgers was made for you.I thought this would be a place I'd enjoy when I saw the milkshake of the week was "The Elvis" a concoction consisting of peanut butter, vanilla ice cream and bananas.I knew this would be a place I'd love when a friend of mine... more
by Samantha (from Calgary, AB) February 2009 - I am an avid visitor of Boogies. I absolutely love and crave thier burgers. I had not been in a while and heard that the ownership had changed and was quite fearful to return after reading some of the reviews. I have to disagree with the fellow who said "change is not always good". In my experience the changes the new owners have made are perfect!... more
by Jordan (from Calgary) February 2009 - Boogies... Possibly the best local restaurant in the city... I've been to Boogies now a handful of times since moving to Calgary in 2008. Recommended by many locals, including family, I must agree that they have one of the best customer service / overall experience ratings for the style of their restaurant in Calgary. Upon walking in you see what can be... more
by Zachary (from Calgary, AB) November 2008 - Being a loyal Boogie's customer for five years, I've noticed quite a bit of change with new ownership as of recently. The burgers have a mysterious new sauce that is reminiscent of something Peters' Drive In might serve. I've experienced soggy onion rings, soggy french fries - for a person with a Culinary Arts degree it is hard to swallow when all... more
by jimmy (from calgary alberta) October 2008 - My first visit will not be my last. Myself and wife recently paid a visit to this calgary landmark we were not disapointed in any manner. After hearing about Boogies from a couple of buddies I finally decided to make ther trip down and try it out. The place is very freindly, clean, and relaxed. We sat at the counter next to the big screen and watched the Stamps game. It reminded me of an old style neighbourhood diner. There were 3 young guys working and they were polite and gave great service.

I have been a huge fan of Boogie's Burgers for years. They quite possibly make the best burgers I've ever tasted. A couple of months ago I visited Boogie's and was sad to hear that the owners had sold the business to a bunch of young guys. I was hoping that nothing would change with the new ownership.

I have eaten at Boogies Burgers many times. I was somewhat skeptical at first when my friend said that we should go, but the moment I tried the burgers, I was hooked. They are big, fresh, and delicious. Completely customizable with the toppings, I enjoy them best fully loaded. Their Keith's is amazing, topped off with a fried egg. Some other reviewers mentioned they were greasy, but I find them... more

I have a confession. I've lived in Calgary all my life, but had never had a burger from Boogies Burgers.
by scott (from calgary) April 2008 - I have a confession. I've lived in Calgary all my life, but had never had a burger from Boogies Burgers. I like meat, I really do. I've had Burger Inn. And Galaxie. I've had Peter's more often than I care to mention. But never Boogies.I was missing out. The atmosphere is great (diner-style with 80's video games), and the service is fantastic. Boogies has a bunch of burgers to choose from (as well as chicken and veggie burgers) that are available with a variety of toppings, including cheese, bacon, onions and a mushroom sauce. The burgers were really messy and I ended up losing most of mine to the plate.... more

by Sarah (from Calgary, AB) August 2006 - I have been a long-time fan of Boogies Burgers. They offer some of the tastiest burgers in the city! The spicy fries and the onion rings are also to die for. They use a cheese sauce on their burgers, so if you're not a fan, make sure you don't order it.... more
My wife and I, like most people who live in Calgary, are not from Calgary. We moved here in late '99 from Ontario. Being avid carnivores, we asked a few people in town where to get a good burger, this being cow-town with "The best AAA beef in Canada" etc. etc. etc.

I don't know what that person is talking about- the fries were the frozen variety, which was dissapointing. Overall, too expensive for and average burger and fries. Won't go back.
Boogies Burgers is a Hamburgers, Burgers, and French restaurant where most Menuism users came for a meal on the go and paid between $10 and $25.
